Protects & shines
The easy way to clean, protect and shine rubber, plastic, and vinyl surfaces. Armor All® Protectant contains a unique, patent pending UV protection system to help block damaging UV rays and slow the vinyl aging process. Armor All® Protectant also contains a special anti-static ingredient.
Like you, we’ve got plenty of experience with taking care of cars. A legacy of protection that began in a Southern California laboratory almost 40 years ago. Here’s a quick history lesson on how we’ve continuously helped you keep your vehicle looking like new – and a glimpse of what’s to come.
Our legacy began in 1962 when a 21-year-old polymer chemist named Joe Palcher invented a milky-white “miracle” formula to protect rubber, plastic and vinyl surfaces from UV radiation and ozone. Joe was an early pioneer in the defense of vehicles from the powerful and harmful effects of nature’s elements.
In 1966, a local auto shop owner convinced Joe to bottle and sell the formula. Named Tridon (“no dirt” spelled backwards), the product quickly grew in popularity across the U.S. Among the automotive industry and everyday car owners alike, it became clear how easy it could be to keep a vehicle looking like new.
Alan’s goal was to make the powerful enhancement and shine capabilities of this formula available to car owners worldwide. In 1976, Armor All® Protectant received a patent for its unique formula; in 1979, the company became Armor All® Products Corp., and Armor All® Protectant received a second patent for its exclusive infusion method, which allows its chemicals to penetrate the surface and protect it from degradation.
The 80’s and 90’s were busy for Armor All® as it continued its leadership in car care innovation. With the development of a strong line of products, Armor All® further simplified the process of protecting your entire car. Our line of cleaners and washes, including Multi-Purpose Auto Cleaner, Auto Glass Cleaner, and Car Wash Concentrate Liquid, has helped countless “Do It Yourself’ers” clean their cars from top to bottom. Constant innovation of Waxes, Polishes, & Paint Protectants and a strong line of Tire & Wheel Care products have made it convenient for countless proud car owners to make their cars shine like new.
And we’ve increased our offering of protectants, including Ultra Shine Protectant, to give you a variety of options to protect your car.
Now in the new Millennium, the Armor All® story continues. We’re still coming up with products that are good for our cars, so that they’re good for your car, too. With the introduction of three New Armor AllTM Wipes products, we’ve made it easier than ever to protect, clean and shine your vehicle’s surfaces. We’re committed to keeping your car looking like new. At Armor All®, we look forward to a bright future of partnering with folks like you – who look after their cars themselves – to find new and better ways to make cars look the best they can.
TIP: Along with the dashboard, Armor All® Protectant is effective for other surfaces such as tires, door panels, vinyl seats, consoles, window trim, bumpers, weather-stripping, engine hoses, vinyl tops and more.
|Our First Hand Review:||
Armor All, it is a big name product, can be found in any automotive store and Armor All Original Protectant is a main product of theirs. So, we have high hopes for success with this one.
A good old standby for many detailers on their vehicles. You don’t really get that much in volume, but you don’t need to use that much either, so it works out.
We strongly suggest spraying Armor All on a soft cloth then applying it to the parts rather than spraying it directly.
Need new plastic shiny, this is what I might use if I was in rush. Maybe not the choice of all professionals but it worked ok on new plastic, but was horrible on older or non-textured plastic. You have to be very careful what you use it on, it is VERY slippery! I know it suggests it can be used on Vinyl Seats, but DO NOT use it for this on a motorcycle, unless you want to slide right off it. Armor All could of called this product “Liquid Teflon in a can”!
No matter what we did, the shine seemed to vary and was patchy on flat black or old plastic. It is also quite difficult to remove once it is applied as well.
If the plastic or vinyl surface has a texture, isn’t flat black and is new then you might want to try this out, otherwise, try Pledge furnature polish on it first.
Don’t forget to follow the directions when using it:
There are many products competing with Armor All on the market and cost is about the same compared tothem.
This product is very easy to find and any automotive store most likely will carry it.
While others may swear by Armor All Original Protectant, we choose to swear at it. To add insult to injury, we didn’t even finish the product before it hit the trash can.
If you want really shiny look, don’t care about a uniform finish and are in a rush… Just becareful of overspray, don’t use it on your seat/tires and it is hard to remove off parts.
Maybe the one we purchased was “off”, we would be open to try it again and re-test it. But for now, it gets a 1 star rating… avoid.
