Introducing the 2026 Royal Enfield Bear 650…

FUELED BY THE GUT
Fueled by the gut and powered by Royal Enfield’s proven 650cc parallel twin engine. Cased in a highly durable, premium black finish, it looks rugged and purposeful, amplifying the Scrambler attitude.

FOR THOSE WHO KNOW, 249 IS NUMBER ONE.
The Bear 650 embodies the spirit of a 16-year-old rookie who, in 1960, lined up alongside hundreds of sideburned hopefuls, all hungry to win the wildest race the Californian desert had ever known—the Big Bear Run.

The Bear 650, a road scrambler with a 60’s soul. Based on the Royal Enfield INT650 platform and powered by the celebrated 650cc parallel twin engine, the Bear 650 combines authentic heritage scrambler styling and raw, uncompromising spirit.

Isolation from reality, flagrant audacity, complete disregard for the outcome, and listening to the GUT; this best describes the mindset of motorcycle racers, and is certainly the perfect description for the 16-year old rookie from the Checkers Motorcycle Club – Eddie Mulder, a.k.a. Fast Eddie – who in 1960 became (and till date remains) the youngest Champion to tame the brutal Californian desert race, the Big Bear Run.

In 1960, the unforgiving Mojave Desert served as a backdrop for the Big Bear Run; the biggest, baddest race the Californian desert had ever witnessed. With no rules, roads or tech, and only cacti and coyotes for spectators, alongside 765 other riders, Eddie Mulder, shocked the racing world as he surged first across the finish line in 4-hrs and 21-minutes, igniting a legacy that reverberates through the ages.

Astride his 500cc Royal Enfield Fury and fueled by instinct, unwavering determination and gut, Eddie was one among only 197 who made it to the end of the finish line.

When asked about what he thought was the turning point for him in the race, Eddie Mulder says, “I was in thirteenth place when I lost control and took a tumble down a ravine. I hauled up the bike and inspected the damage. The handlebars were bent right back, the header pipe had been wrenched out of the cylinder head, and one shock absorber was bust. I heaved the bars into shape and kicked the header pipe back into place. Couldn’t do anything about the broken shock absorber, so I rode the rest of the race on just one”.

Sixty-four years later, that fearless spirit has sparked the inspiration for a motorcycle that embodies that indomitable grit and determination in its soul – the new Royal Enfield Bear 650, a stylish and versatile scrambler. Designed for riders who trust their instinct and stand out from the rest, the Bear 650 is more than just a motorcycle – it is a journey, a statement, and a reminder to follow your gut. With its versatile capabilities, robust engineering, and distinct scrambler aesthetic, the Bear 650 is poised to redefine the riding experience for ‘scrambler-ers’ across the globe, inviting them to forge their own path, one ride at a time.

Speaking about the inspiration, conception and design of the Bear 650, B Govindarajan, CEO – Royal Enfield, says, “We’ve always drawn deep inspiration for our motorcycles from our community, and from our riders who’ve achieved extraordinary feats. Our inspiration for the Bear 650 came from one such legendary story – Eddie and that of the 1960 Big Bear Run. The Bear 650 channels the same spirit of raw instinct, sheer impulse, relentless determination, and embodies the ethos of a true scrambler ‘full-send’ mindset and DNA. It is built to deliver confidence and control across all terrains—whether you are navigating urban streets or dusty trails. The Bear 650 is not just about performance; it’s about versatility, resilience, and an uncompromising spirit.

ROYAL ENFIELD CELEBRATES 125 YEARS OF PURE MOTORCYCLING AT EICMA 2025 WITH AN EXCITING NEW LINEUP THAT BLENDS TRADITION AND INNOVATION.

Royal Enfield, the world’s oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production, is marking another monumental milestone in its storied journey as it celebrates 125 years of Pure Motorcycling. The brand’s EICMA showcase commemorates this landmark occasion by offering experts and enthusiasts a glimpse into its historical journey – and connecting this legendary past with its dynamic present and ambitious future.

Since 1901, Royal Enfield has created, nurtured and shaped motorcycling culture across the world – from Chennai to London, from Amazonian trails to the high passes of the Himalayas.

At EICMA in Milan – followed by Motoverse in Goa – Royal Enfield will officially kick off a year-long calendar of commemorative activities, signalling the beginning of a pivotal new chapter for the company.

Speaking at EICMA, Siddhartha Lal, Executive Chairman, Eicher Motors Ltd., said, “For 125 years, Royal Enfield has stood as an enduring symbol of authenticity, craftsmanship, and the pure joy of motorcycling. What began as a simple pursuit of building honest, beautiful motorcycles has evolved into a global culture that celebrates exploration, community, and self-expression. This incredible milestone is not just about looking back on our legacy, but looking ahead with clarity and conviction. At EICMA this year, we’re showcasing the full spectrum of what Royal Enfield stands for, from timeless design and intuitive engineering to bold, future-facing innovations that redefine what’s possible in motorcycling. The Electric Himalayan Testbed and Flying Flea city+ concept embody this evolution, blending our heritage with bold ideas for what lies ahead. As we look to the next 125 years, our mission remains the same, to build motorcycles with soul and make Pure Motorcycling accessible to riding enthusiasts around the world.”
Bringing this story alive at EICMA, Royal Enfield unveiled a slew of new motorcycles, offered a peek into some soon-to-be-launched models and platforms, and showcased special edition variants of some community favourites.

Adding, B. Govindarajan, Managing Director – Eicher Motors Ltd., and Chief Executive Officer – Royal Enfield, said, “EICMA 2025 is as much a celebration of our 125-year heritage as it is a showcase of our evolution. The motorcycles unveiled here represent our commitment to timeless design, purposeful innovation, and the spirit of Pure Motorcycling. We are honoring our heritage by unveiling the Classic 650 125th Anniversary Special Edition, a seamless blend of legacy and modern innovation. Simultaneously, we strengthen our core segments with the purpose-built Himalayan Mana Black Edition and the Bullet 650, which breathes new life into an icon that has defined generations. Solidifying our electric future, we are expanding the Flying Flea portfolio with the FF.S6, preparing for a launch in 2026. Looking forward, we will keep propagating the Royal Enfield DNA, offering riders around the world a blend of authenticity, innovation, and Pure Motorcycling.”

As befits a brand steeped in tradition, the lineup of new launches is helmed by the majestic new Royal Enfield Bullet 650. The Bullet has long been the heartbeat of the brand, prized as an heirloom by generations of riders and enthusiasts. Over the past nine decades, the company has refined the pedigree of the world’s oldest motorcycle in continuous production, and in 2025, it finds its most powerful expression yet: the Bullet 650, the epitome of old school cool.

Also unveiled at the event was a special edition of the Royal Enfield Classic 650, reimagined to commemorate 125 years of Royal Enfield. This special edition blends the timeless silhouette of the Classic with a strikingly modern aesthetic, representing the Royal Enfield’s ethos of balancing tradition and innovation.

Showcasing a new version of its celebrated adventure motorcycle, Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan Mana Black edition. Inspired by the formidable Mana Pass route, the Mana Black edition accentuates the rugged, spartan character of the Himalayan.

Royal Enfield also debuted a one-of-a-kind collaboration with Shotgun x Rough Crafts inspired by its OG custom-built motorcycle. This limited edition motorcycle is a unique fusion of Royal Enfield’s modern neo-retro design philosophy and Rough Crafts’ unmistakable signature aesthetic, celebrating the spirit of individuality, craftsmanship and creativity that defines the custom motorcycle culture.

Also making its debut at EICMA is Flying Flea’s new Scrambler-styled motorcycle – the FF.S6. Built for urban exploration, the FF.S6. sets new benchmarks of sophistication, versatility and agility in the global EV space.

In Gut We Trust … and the Gut Roars!

The Bear 650 is fuelled by gut feel and powered by Royal Enfield’s globally renowned 650-Twin platform.

Known for its smooth performance and character, the engine delivers a robust 47 bhp (34.6 kW) at 7,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 56.5Nm @5150rpm which increases the mid range punch on the Bear 650 as compared to the other Twin models. The innovative 2-1 exhaust system enhances torque and offers a broader powerband, while the compact single silencer reduces weight and adds to the Scrambler aesthetic.

Scramble in style

Chunky tires with retro flavor, open square tread blocks, contoured scrambler seats, 2-1 exhaust, kicked-up rear loop, competition number board and raised ground clearance – each element on the Bear 650 conveys its true Scrambler DNA. Additionally, the inclusion of a competition number board
gives the motorcycle a heritage scrambler look; an ode to the scrambler motorcycles of yore.

Accentuating the scrambler aesthetic further are the 5 striking colourways inspired by the vibrant spirit of California. Boardwalk White, Petrol Green, Wild Honey, Golden Shadow, and a special color edition called Two Four Nine, paying tribute to Eddie’s iconic race winning number. Together, all these elements make the Bear 650 a scrambler that embodies the spirit and style of the 60’s desert racing scene of California.

The quintessential ‘bad-roader’

For those who crave a quintessential ‘badass’ scrambler experience, the Bear 650 gets a revised and stronger chassis, Showa USD big piston forks in the front with 130mm travel and Showa Twin tube RSU at the rear with 115mm travel aid provide a pliant experience while riding on the tarmac. Higher ground clearance of 184mm coupled with the combination of 19″ front and 17″ rear wheels, fitted with dual purpose tires, provides an authentic scrambler look, improves grip and lends it mild off-road ability. The contoured seat of the Bear 650 has been designed to allow the rider to move around freely and prevent the rider from slipping while riding on rough surfaces. A wide handlebar and neutrally positioned footpegs provides uncramped and confident ergonomics. The motorcycle is equipped with 320mm front disc and 270mm rear disc for superior braking performance with the option of switching off rear ABS while riding on broken roads or graded trails.

Not so basic instinct | Modern scrambler essentials

Inspired by legacy but modern in many aspects, the Bear 650 is equipped with Tripper Dash, the all-new TFT display has a simple user interface and experience for easy comprehension on the move. The black aluminum switch cubes and joystick aid in effortless and intuitive interaction while using the Tripper Dash. The Google Maps integration, USB-C charging port provides more confidence for urban exploration. A first on the twins platform, the motorcycle also gets full LED lighting for increased visibility and scrambler aesthetics.

Why not a high-level exhaust – isn’t this what a Scrambler should have?
Scramblers can run high or low level exhausts – there are no hard and fast rules here. We chose to specify The Bear with a low level silencer in order to allow for easy fitment of soft luggage and to reduce discomfort for our customers from heat transferred to the right leg.

Is there a tubeless tire option for this motorcycle?
No. Tubeless is not a feature or an option available for this motorcycle.

What can riders expect from the performance of the Bear 650?
The Bear 650 is powered by our proven 650-Twin engine, tuned for more torque over other Twins models, delivering an exhilarating riding experience. Thanks to suspension from Showa, as well as bespoke tire and chassis development, the Bear 650 is a dynamic road machine, while remaining capable on broken roads and light trails.

How does the Bear 650 compare to other Royal Enfield platforms in terms of character?
The Bear 650 has its own distinctive character – very different to other motorcycles in the Twins lineup and our other platforms. The riding triangle is very open with an aggressive ‘elbows up’ riding attitude. The sound is unique to the Bear 650, thanks to the unique exhaust system.

The Bear 650 is the first motorcycle to get a 2-into-1 header exhaust. How does it impact the weight and the performance of the motorcycle?
It contributes to the 8% increase in peak torque compared to other models on the platform. The compact single silencer & cat box with stainless headers reduces mass compared to a twin silencer system and pulls mass closer to the centre of the motorcycle. The exhaust has a distinctive sound – different to any of our other Twins platform models.

When can customers expect motorcycles to be available?
Starting November 5th, the Bear 650 will begin arriving at dealerships in USA and Canada.

What is the fuel tank capacity, fuel efficiency and tentative range?

Please share details about the tires used.
Front Tire – 100/90-19 M/C 57H and Rear Tire – 140/80 R17 M/C 69H

Can you highlight specific design elements that set the Bear 650 apart from the INT650?
The Bear 650 has 19” front and 17” rear off-road tires which gives it a Scrambler look. It gets a scrambler seat which is shaped to allow the rider to move around easily. The addition of a number board gives the motorcycle an authentic scrambler appeal.
