026 Grand Prix of Germany will mark the track debut with the Moto2™ riders of Pirelli’s

Two Pirelli development medium rear tyres for Moto2™ at the Sachsenring

For the demanding German circuit, Pirelli makes available to the intermediate class the D0922 rear, already the race reference in 2025, and the new F0468 specification

· Two medium compounds for Moto2™, one being ‘all new’. The 2026 Grand Prix of Germany will mark the track debut with the Moto2™ riders of Pirelli’s new F0468 development rear specification, a solution already used in the WorldSBK Championship but never before in the Grand Prix World Championship. This new specification uses the same compound as the D0922 option, already the race reference at the previous edition of this GP, but combines it with a different structure designed to offer greater stability and more consistent performance over race distance.

· Moto3™ to use standard range solutions. For the third consecutive year, Moto3™ riders will have the standard range soft SC1 and medium SC2 compounds available for the rear. The latter is the historical reference for the Sachsenring, having been the race choice of all riders in both 2024 and 2025. The SC1 and SC2 will also be available for the front, with the medium having confirmed itself in recent editions as the most widely used race solution.

· Medium tyres also took centre stage in 2025. The medium rear solutions were also the reference at the 2025 edition of the German Grand Prix. In Moto2™, all riders chose the D0922 specification, almost always in combination with the soft SC1 front; the only exceptions were Agius and Alonso, who opted for the SC2 at the front. In Moto3™, meanwhile, the medium SC2 was the unanimous choice for the rear and also the front solution most widely used by the riders in the race.

Sachsenring, a proving ground for medium compounds

“We return to the Sachsenring for the third consecutive year with a now well-established understanding of the characteristics of this track. It is one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar for tyres, particularly in terms of wear levels. For this reason, medium solutions have traditionally been the most suitable choice, guaranteeing the best compromise between resistance and consistent performance.
Last year, in Moto2™, all riders chose the D0922 specification, achieving very positive results, while in Moto3™ the preference fell on the SC2, the most resistant compound among those available. For 2026, we are introducing an interesting alternative for Moto2™: the F0468 development specification. Although it is new to this championship, this solution has already been used successfully in WorldSBK at Most, another circuit that is particularly severe on tyres.
The F0468 uses the same compound as the D0922, already well known and appreciated by the riders, but combines it with a new-generation structure developed to increase stability and consistency of performance over the entire race distance. It will be particularly interesting to analyse the direct comparison between these two specifications and see which of the two will best interpret the riders’ requirements and the characteristics of the Sachsenring”.
