Lucas Mahias will line-up on the front row of the grid for both his and GMT94 Yamaha’s home race at the Circuit de Nevers, Magny-Cours after securing third position in Friday’s Superpole.
The Frenchman had held pole position until the dying moments of the session when he was pipped to the top spot by 0.276 seconds to round out the session in third.
It was a strong Superpole overall for the GMT94 team, who led the way for Yamaha with Roberto Garcia, who it was recently confirmed will stay with the team in 2027, heading up the second row in fourth.
World Championship leader Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing) faced the task of getting to know the Magny-Cours circuit, as he again visits a completely new venue in his debut WorldSSP season. He will start Saturday’s first race from tenth on the grid as he looks to improve across the weekend.
The weekend got off to a promising start for Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing’s Can Öncü, but a technical problem interrupted his Superpole session meaning he’ll have to fight through from 13th on the grid. Aldi Satya Mahendra (AS BLU CRU Racing) will start 17th, with Yuki Okamoto (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) enjoying a step forward to qualify 19th.
Race 1 gets underway at 14:00 local time.

If the hot conditions continue, the race will be difficult but we will push hard for the best result possible here in France.”
