Sharp, sporty styling

Completely revised styling package blends style, wind protection, aerodynamics and airflow management. The new twin headlamp design contributes to strong Kawasaki looks, while reflecting the Versys 650’s abundant potential for fun, sporty riding.

Larger-volume fuel tank

Increased volume contributes to a greater cruising range. Short-style fuel tank positions the rider closer to the handlebar, facilitating control.

17” wheels

17” wheels front and back contribute to quick, sporty handling
and accommodate a wide variety of sport tyres. Stronger wheels contribute to an increased payload.

Inverted front fork

Long-travel ø41 mm front fork with stiff springs is the key to active control of the bike’s front-rear weight transfer. Separated functions for each tube allow all adjusters to be at the top of the fork for easy adjustment. Settings contribute to both light handling and ride comfort.

One of the standout attributes of the 2016 Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS motorcycle is its upright riding position, which is ideal for commuting, back-road runs and weekend jaunts. Its narrow frame allows the Versys 650 ABS motorcycle to be nimbler than many of its bulky competition and provides excellent rider feedback.

The dependable fuel-injected 649cc, parallel-twin engine remains the best choice for this light and nimble street motorcycle, thanks to its lively performance and smooth acceleration. Derived from the Ninja® 650 ABS sportbike, but tuned for greater torque, the engine inspires confidence for daily commuters and provides fun on weekend trips. The torquey twin delivers a deep ribbon of power in the low- and mid-range, while also pulling vigorously to its rev limiter.

Long-travel suspension, coupled with the upright riding position, is critical to achieving the multi-role mission of the 2016 Kawasaki Versys 650 ABS motorcycle. In the front, the adjustable Showa fork enhances rider confidence and comfort. It splits the damping and spring functions into separate fork tubes, giving the rider adjustability while also saving weight. Long outer fork tubes enhance rigidity and provide the ultimate combination of light handling and supreme comfort.

At the rear, the KYB shock allows riders to quickly make preload adjustments via the remote-mounted adjuster. This can either compensate for cargo or passenger weight, or be tuned to the rider’s preference.

The crisp, linear ABS brake system includes Nissin block-style calipers to help enhance overall braking power.

An easy-to-read instrument cluster with a fuel gauge, maximum range indicator and ECO™ Economical Riding Indicator shows the rider when maximum efficiency is being achieved.
