2017 Victory Octane on www.Totalmotorcycle.com

POWER TO BURN…

Take a big motor, put it into a lightweight chassis, then delete any creature comforts or other unnecessary accessories. What’s left is just what you need to go very fast, and nothing else. This is the formula for the Modern American Musclebike.

Drop the clutch and light up that rear tire. Octane® makes it easy by following classic American musclecar formula: a powerful motor in a lightweight chassis. What’s left is just what you need to go very fast and without distraction. Featuring a high revving liquid-cooled 60-degree V-Twin with four-valve heads and dual-overhead cams that makes 104 horsepower and 76 foot-pounds of tire-shredding torque, Octane® has the heart of a Pikes Peak International Hill Climb™ racer and a 0-60 mph time that makes it the quickest Victory ever produced. But power is only half of the musclebike equation. There’s also a stiff and lightweight cast-aluminum frame, sharp steering geometry, a tight wheelbase, and 32 degrees of lean angle that together deliver agility previously unknown to American V-Twin motorcycles. Need more power? Need more sound? Check out the Victory’s Stage 2 Kit that includes an air intake and 2-1 exhaust to offer 10% more horsepower and 5% more torque. Fast, capable, stylish and affordable. Victory’s Octane® is the formula for the Modern American Musclebike.

Victory Octane: the Modern American Musclebike

Every high-octane horsepower enthusiast is familiar with the muscle car formula: take a big motor, insert it into a lightweight chassis then remove any creature comforts or other unnecessary accessories.

What’s left is just what you need to go very fast and nothing else.

The all-new Victory Octane is the two-wheeled expression of that concept with a modern twist.

This is raw adrenaline that rules the streets. A 1200cc, liquid-cooled V-twin -Victory’s first-ever liquid-cooled engine – utilises dual overhead cams and four-valve heads to rev beyond 8000 rpm and put down 104 horsepower.

That’s more horsepower than in any production Victory motorcycle ever built.

No surprise then that Octane is also the quickest Victory down the quarter-mile and the fastest from 0-60 mph too. And with a price starting from €12,950, Octane runs in a class of its own.

A stiff and light cast-aluminium frame transmits every last one of those horsepower directly to the asphalt. Sharp steering geometry, a tight 1578mm (62.1 in) wheelbase and 32° of available lean angle deliver agility previously unknown to American V-twin motorcycles.

Muscular styling cuts an undeniably modern profile and a sportsbike-inspired bullet cowl improves airflow over the rider at the triple-digit speeds that Octane is built to achieve.

The first hundred customers (including pre-orders) will be given a special engine cover with the Project 156 logo on it.

MODERN AMERICAN MUSCLE – A NEW VISION FOR AMERICAN MOTORCYCLES

Forget everything you think you know about American V-twin motorcycles. Forget the conventional wisdom that says American motorcycles are all big, boring, and backwards-looking for design inspiration. Victory delivers a new vision for American motorcycles, one that unapologetically looks forward for design direction, one that leverages all the latest technology, and one that delivers a level of performance and excitement previously unknown to American V-twin buyers. This is Modern American Muscle.

Modern is innovative, advanced and unafraid to embrace new thinking in design, technology and materials. American is confident, independent, and always pushing the envelope to challenge the status quo. Muscle is strength, power and acceleration that commands respect on the street. It’s time that American motorcycle buyers have a choice that embodies the Modern American Muscle spirit. It’s time for Victory.

Victory motorcycles are proven in the most demanding racing events in the world: The Isle of Man TT. Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. NHRA Pro Stock. Victory motorcycles deliver class-leading performance in every category, to provide a legitimate and credible American performance option.

Victory is a new brand with the freedom to build a new type of American motorcycle for new type of American motorcycle enthusiast. Victory is creating a new definition for American motorcycles that puts real-world performance and excitement at its core.

This is Victory. This is Modern American Muscle.

Key Features

THE EVOLUTION OF OCTANE® – THREE RAW ADRENALINE-FUELED CONCEPTS INFLUENCED
OCTANE

CONCEPT 1: PROJECT 156
What better place to prove the performance of a prototype V-twin racing engine
than the most demanding race in America-the Pikes Peak International Hill
Climb? That was the purpose for building Project 156, the test platform for
Victory’s first-ever liquid-cooled engine that ultimately formed the basis
for the 1200cc, 60-degree V-twin that powers the Octane production bike.

Victory Racing’s Project 156-the name a reference to the number of turns
leading to the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak-was a collaboration between
the Victory Engineering team, who developed the powerplant in-house, and Roland
Sands Design, who developed the handbuilt chassis that carried that powerplant.
Cycle World Road Test editor Don Canet piloted the bike for the race.

A crash in the second sector prevented Canet from finishing the race, but
not before he had qualified first in the Exhibition Class and fourth overall
out of 60 total bike entries, easily keeping pace with established superbikes
from Honda, Kawasaki and Ducati. And though the Project 156 engine was a one-off
prototype constructed just for this race, some components-including the engine
cases and transmission-are identical to what is now found on the production
Octane streetbike.

CONCEPT 2: IGNITION
The second chapter of the Octane development story is set in Switzerland,
where noted European drag racer and custom bike builder Urs Erbacher illustrated
what the Project 156 powertrain could look like in an aggressive, European-styled
muscle bike.

“I really liked the style of Project 156, so I wanted to build my bike
like a naked race bike,” Erbacher says. “In Switzerland, riding
in the mountains is very popular, and I wanted to build a bike that would
be very good for that.”

Erbacher wanted a lot of lean angle, so he installed long-travel, race-ready
suspension components. He also added dual radial-mounted disc brakes up front
and hand-built a two-into-one exhaust that lets the high-revving Octane V-twin
really sing.

“This is a real performance engine,” Erbacher says, “with
four-valve heads, overhead cams and of course, a lot of torque-this is almost
a racing engine out of the box. And the engine revs much higher, which sportbike
guys will really like.”

What’s it like to ride? “It’s like jumping off a bridge,” Erbacher
says, “the same feeling. You sit on the bike, you start it up, and you
can feel your arm hairs rise up. Blood pumping, adrenaline flowing, you just
want to go quicker and faster.”

CONCEPT 3: COMBUSTION
What follows Ignition? Combustion, of course, and that was the name of the
third concept in this series, constructed by long-time Victory collaborator
Zach Ness.

Inspired by the American musclecar aesthetic that favors a big motor, a lightweight
chassis and nothing else, Ness trimmed his concept down to the bare essentials
to optimize the power-to-weight ratio for maximum performance. “My design
direction came 100 percent from the throttle,” Ness says. “I wanted
to create a bike that was fast, light and ready to attack the next green light.

Asked to describe his favorite part of the Octane, Ness says it’s definitely
the exhaust note-especially as routed through his hand-made, shotgun-dual
pipes. It’s a whole different animal,” Ness says. “You hear this
thing fire up, the hair stands up on your arms. It’s not like any other American
V-Twin I’ve ever heard-it sounds like a Pro Stock motorcycle. It sounds pissed
off. It sounds mean.”

A completely different animal, Ness says, and a signal of where Victory is
headed in the future. “There’s a big gap for an American motorcycle manufacturer
to fill. You have hot rods, musclecars, but where are the high-performance
American motorcycles?” This is the gap that Victory’s Octane is built
to fill.

THE FINAL PRODUCT: OCTANE
“We wanted to bring the American motorcycle into the 21st century,”
Victory Senior Industrial Designer Mike Song says. “Victory doesn’t have
any long history or legacy-we are a new brand and we can go wherever we want
to go. We want to be modern, and bold, and set our own trends.”

“Octane is for anyone who likes excitement,” Song says. “It
handles well, offers a lot of performance, and contemporary styling to go
with it. It’s meant for someone young, who wants something fresh, new and
modern.”

Moving into the middleweight category is a big step toward expanding the
Victory product line. “The basic Octane platform is so versatile,”
Song says, “allowing us to do things we’ve never done before. We can
take this design in several directions, opening the door for Victory to venture
into segments outside of traditional cruisers, drawing in younger riders and
new buyers.” In other words, Octane is just the first step in an entirely
new direction for American motorcycle development.

Features and Benefits

A RACE-BRED POWERTRAIN
Developed from the Project 156 prototype that was tested at the most demanding
racing event in the world-the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb™-the
60-degree V-twin features a short-stroke just like the Project 156 racer to
allow higher engine rpm and more horsepower and a quick-revving engine more
like a sportsbike than any traditional American V-Twin. An electronically
metered 60mm throttle body feeds high-flow four-valve heads (operated by dual
overhead cams) and liquid cooling quenches the heat generated by 104 horsepower
and 99 Nm of tyre-shredding torque. Geared short for quicker acceleration,
Octane can sprint down the quarter-mile in 12 seconds and rush from 0-60 mph
in less than four seconds. With the heart of a racer, Octane has power to
burn.

Based on the Project 156 racer that competed at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb,
Octane’s 1200cc V-twin uses 4-valve heads, dual overhead cams, and liquid
cooling to make 104 horsepower. Geared for acceleration, Octane™ can
run the quarter mile in 12 seconds and hit 60 mph in under four seconds.

A STIFF AND SOLID CHASSIS
Raw power is only half of the muscle bike equation. You also need a solid
chassis that can transmit all that power to the road and also hold a tight
line when bent into a corner. Octane’s solid-mounted powertrain is a stressed
member that connects cast-aluminium front and rear frame sections, with twin
tubular-steel backbones for added reinforcement. This rigid assembly is suspended
up front by a 41mm fork equipped with dual-rate springs for solid front-end
feedback over any type of road and out back with stylish laydown shocks mounted
53 degrees off-horizontal, also equipped with preload-adjustable dual-rate
springs. Oversized, 298mm disc brakes with stainless-steel lines are at both
ends and ABS is standard. Cast aluminium, 10-spoke wheels are sized and shod
for sure-footed handling. The 18-inch front wheel wears 130/70-18 rubber,
while the 17-inch rear wheel is wrapped with a 160/70-17 tyre. A low-slung
solo saddle that rides just 658mm (25.9 inches) above the pavement, an equally
low pullback handlebar and semi-forward-set foot controls create a riding
position that looks properly badass but still provides adequate support when
the rider grabs a big handful of throttle and the bike wants to rocket off
the line.

A light and rigid cast aluminum frame transmits every horsepower directly
to the pavement. Sharp steering geometry and 32-degrees of lean angle deliver
agility previously unknown to American motorcycles. Cast aluminum 10-spoke
wheels are sized for sure-footed handling.

SHARP-EDGED STYLING
There are no smooth, flowing lines here. Octane is the most aggressive Victory
motorcycle ever built and the styling has been revised to suit with harder
lines, sharper creases, a more-pronounced centre spine and other details that
make Octane look leaner and meaner than any American motorcycle ever before.
The bullet cowl is standard equipment and screams to oncoming traffic that
this bike is built for speed-the only thing other riders are going to see
is the LED taillight disappearing into the distance. Chrome won’t get you
home, so there’s hardly any shiny stuff on Octane. The bulk of the chassis,
running gear and powertrain are blacked-out, and Matte Super Steel Grey bodywork
looks all business. Even the tank badge has been cast in grey instead of the
traditional Victory red to create a modern, monochrome look.

THE MODERN AMERICAN MUSCLEBIKE
Octane uses a significant number of unique parts specifically designed and
engineered to deliver the high-performance, raw-adrenaline riding experience
Victory riders demand. With a high-revving engine character and surprising
high-rpm power hit, it behaves more like a sportsbike than any American V-twin
that has come before. Fast, capable and stylish, Victory’s Octane is the answer
to a Modern American Musclebike.

LEANER AND MEANER

Octane™ is the most aggressive Victory motorcycle ever built, styled
with harder lines, sharper creases, and other subtle details that make Octane™
look leaner and meaner than any other American motorcycle. The bullet cowl
is standard equipment and proves this bike is built for speed.

CHROME WON’T GET YOU HOME

That’s why there’s so little shiny stuff on Octane™. The chassis
and powertrain are blacked-out, and Matte Super Steel Gray bodywork creates
a modern, monochrome look.

Available Accessories:

Tachometer with Shift Light

Monitor the bike’s performance and stay aware of precisely when to shift
gears with this Victory Tachometer With Shift Light. The precision tachometer
reports engine RPMs up to 10,000, and an amber light comes on to indicate

Add racing-inspired custom style and customized ergonomics. This bar is like
those on drag bikes, nearly straight across, which puts the rider in a forward,
engaged position that many riders feel can heighten the riding experience.

Stage 1 Slip-On Mufflers

The Victory Stage 1 Slip-On Muffler produces a muscular, throaty exhaust
note that properly represents the bike’s outstanding performance.

Adjustable Piggyback Shocks

Experience the ultimate in suspension performance with these shocks that
deliver fade-free damping and offer 16-way compression adjustability for custom
tuning to suit a rider’s weight and riding style.
