Smooth power and lightness
Unchanged in its mechanics, the 1158 cc V4 Granturismo engine delivers 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 125 Nm (12.7 kgm) at 8750 rpm, with a total weight of just 147 lb.

From 170 to 114 horsepower: the dedicated Enduro riding mode
Multistrada V4 Rally adopts a dedicated engine mode, Enduro Riding Mode with new Off-Road power mode, to limit engine power to 114 hp for a more dynamic, direct response and a reduction in consumption and emissions.

Optimized consumption and thermal comfort
In addition to switching off the rear cylinders at idle with the motorcycle stationary, a function already present on the Multistrada V4, the V4 Granturismo now keeps the rear bank deactivated in other operating conditions to the benefit of fuel consumption and emissions.

Easy low-speed riding and maneuvering from a standstill
Multistrada V4 Rally features two new functions designed to facilitate low-speed riding and maneuvering from a standstill. The Minimum Preload allows suspension preload to be reduced to zero lowering the bike.

Adaptive Cruise Control: long distances without fatigue
The front radar, perfectly integrated into the front end of the Multistrada V4 Rally, controls the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) function.

Blind Spot Detection: all-encompassing safety
The rear radar, positioned under the light, can detect vehicles located in the so-called blind spot, or rather the area that the rider cannot see directly or in the rear-view mirror.

Ducati Cornering Lights: even greater visibility
The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped as standard with full LED lights and a front headlight complete with DRL and Cornering Lights. The rear light integrates the Ducati Brake Light function.

ABS Cornering
ABS Cornering aptly uses the signals from Bosch’s IMU platform to maximize balancing of the braking power delivered to the front and rear wheels even in critical situations and with the motorcycle in a leaning position.

Ducati Wheelie Control
Ducati Wheelie Control has been developed and set based on the characteristics of the Multistrada V4 Rally to be even more precise during those propulsive moves typical of sports riding. Integrated into the Riding Modes, DWC is adjustable according to eight levels.

Ducati Traction Control
An integral part of the Ducati Safety Pack, Ducati Traction Control is at its evolutionary peak on the Multistrada V4 Rally. The DTC integrates data coming from the IMU to manage any loss in grip while also considering the lean angle.

Vehicle Hold Control
Vehicle Hold Control allows for safe and comfortable starts even in difficult situations, such as on a hill, autonomously managing the brake pressure on start-up so that the user need only focus on the throttle and clutch.

In its element on any road

Living up to its name, the “Rally” model further improves the Multistrada V4’s ability to rule all roads—especially the unpaved ones. The Multistrada Rally uses semi-active suspension with travel increased to 7.9 in that delivers higher ground clearance; a new Power Mode dedicated to off-roading; wider rider footpegs with an improved profile and removable rubber insert; and the Skyhook DSS EVO control strategy, even more precise and efficient for this model. The Multistrada V4 Rally is further equipped with an Auto leveling function that delivers a constant adjustment to keep the bike’s riding characteristics unchanged when the rider, passenger and luggage configuration vary. Also, standard lightened spoke rims and reinforced engine guards strengthen the Multistrada V4 Rally’s off-road aptitude.

With the new 7.9-gal aluminum tank, which integrates into the muscular and elegant shapes of the bike, delivers increased travel distances between one refueling stop and the next. Without a doubt, the new Multistrada V4 Rally is ready to tackle even the most remote roads.

More comfort for rider and passenger

The Multistrada V4 Rally is the ideal bike for traveling with a passenger. The bike’s design naturally takes the comfort of the rider and travel companion to the highest level: the windshield has been redesigned (increasing the height by 1.6 in and the width by 0.8 in), the tail has been lengthened and the top case attachment is moved back to offer more leg area for the passenger. The passenger footrests also arrive with larger rubber inserts to reduce vibrations. Furthermore, with seats of different heights for both rider and passenger and the lowered suspension kit, the Multistrada V4 Rally can be customized for any rider and passenger combination.

The Minimum Preload function, first introduced on the 2022 Multistrada V4 S, allows the rider to “lower” the bike when stopping and riding at low speed by minimizing the preload of the shock absorber. The Multistrada V4 Rally takes a further step forward in terms of ease of use by introducing the Easy Lift function. The Easy Lift opens the suspension hydraulics at key ON and reduces the effort required to lift the motorcycle from the side stand thanks to the compression of the fork and shock absorber.

In addition, a center stand is standard on this bike to help load and unload the side cases and to perform any maintenance items on long journeys away from home.

Safety and technology

The Ducati Multistrada family continues to be a benchmark from a technological and safety point of view. The Multistrada V4 was the first motorcycle worldwide equipped with a front and rear radar system to support Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which makes riding less tiring on long road sections, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD), which signals the presence of vehicles approaching in the corner of the mirrors.

The 6.5-inch TFT color dashboard offers map navigation features thanks to the Ducati Connect application, which supports the use of a mobile phone to answer calls or listen to music while using a helmet equipped with an intercom system.

The Multistrada V4 Rally offers ABS Cornering, which allows you to take advantage of the braking power even when cornering; Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL), which improve night visibility by illuminating the inside of corners; Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Traction Control (DTC). These systems use the inertial platform (IMU), which optimizes the intervention based on the lean and pitch angle of the motorcycle.

Enduro Riding Mode with dedicated Power Mode

To achieve the potential of the Multistrada V4, Ducati has developed four Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro). The Multistrada V4 Rally features an evolution of the Enduro mode. Selecting the Enduro Riding Mode activates a dedicated Power Mode, which limits the power to 114 hp with a dynamic and direct throttle response. The DSS Evolution prepares for off-road riding by indicating the load mode with a specific icon on the dash, depicting an off-road helmet. The DTC switches to a lower intervention level and the DWC is deactivated. The ABS on the rear wheel is also deactivated, and cornering functionality and rear lift detection are suppressed to adapt to off-road use.

Extended rear bank engine deactivation

The Multistrada V4 Rally also introduces a brand-new strategy to extend the deactivation of the rear cylinder bank, a technical solution debuting for the first time on a production motorcycle. In addition to switching off the rear cylinders at idle with the motorcycle stationary (a function already available on the Multistrada V4), the V4 Granturismo now keeps the rear bank deactivated in other operating conditions to the benefit of fuel consumption and emissions.

With this new strategy, deactivation occurs even with the motorcycle in motion. As speed increases or above a specific power request from the throttle grip, the rear cylinders are reactivated, and the full performance of the V4 Granturismo is returned.

This system is active in all riding modes.

Borgo Panigale, Bologna, January 25, 2023 – Production of the Multistrada V4 Rally, the Ducati designed for long-distance journeys, has begun at the Borgo Panigale factory. The new bike completes Ducati’s most robust touring range which was born exactly 20 years ago with the first revolutionary Multistrada 1000 that marked the opening of Ducati towards the world of travel.

Twenty years during which Multistrada has been able to evolve and renew itself through the 1100, 1200 and 1260 models, arriving at its fourth generation powered by the new, revolutionary V4 Grandturismo. The Multistrada V4 embodies the concept of the Grand Tourer according to the values of Style, Sophistication, Performance that are intrinsic to Ducati’s DNA.

Multistrada introduced several innovations to the Ducati range, such as the Riding Modes and DVT variable valve timing. Still, it was also the first bike worldwide equipped with technological innovations such as the semi-active Skyhook suspension. More recently, it is the first to market both front and rear radar to support Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection systems and extended engine deactivation.

With the “Rally” Ducati takes the globetrotter spirit of the Multistrada V4 to an even higher level, thanks to more comfort for rider and passenger, greater range and a more pronounced off-road aptitude without sacrificing performance (170 hp), reliability and running costs, with maintenance intervals every 37,000 mi and Oil Service every 9,000 mi/24 months thanks to the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine.

To tackle unpaved roads even better, this Multistrada can count on semi-active suspension with increased travel of 7.9 in (200 mm), lightened spoked rims, reinforced engine guards, an Enduro Riding Mode with brand new Power Mode dedicated to off-road use, wider rider foot-pegs and an even more precise and efficient Skyhook DSS EVO control strategy aided by a new sensor in the fork which instantly measures more accurately the suspension stroke.

Ready for adventure straight from the factory, the Multistrada V4 Rally will arrive in the Adventure Travel & Radar trim in North American markets. Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection, aluminum side cases, heated rider and passenger seats, heated grips, center stand, a new extended engine guard plate, and black tubeless spoked rims.

As with the entire Multistrada V4 family, reliability and maintenance costs are class-leading. Valve service is recommended every 37,000 miles, and oil service every 9,000 miles/24 months.

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally furthers the globetrotting spirit of the Multistrada V4, setting a new standard of comfort, performance, and safety for long-distance travel on two wheels. Its new 7.9-gal aluminum tank announces its far-flung ambitions, while improved fuel economy further prolongs the journey. Debuting for the first time on a production motorcycle, the Rally model’s extended rear cylinder deactivation decreases consumption without sacrificing performance. In addition to switching off the rear cylinders at idle while the motorcycle is stationary—a fuel-saving strategy already utilized on the Granturismo V4—the latest innovation deactivates the rear cylinder bank even while the motorcycle is in motion. Given a specified power request from the throttle grip or at increasing speed, the rear cylinders are reactivated and full performance returns.

The Multistrada V4 Rally uses its own unique Enduro riding mode that matches direct throttle response with a limited power output of 114 hp. Additionally, the mode switches Ducati Traction Control (DTC) to a lower intervention level, deactivates Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and rear ABS, and suppresses the sensitivity of rear lift detection and cornering ABS.

The Multistrada V4 Rally has 7.9-inches of travel, increasing ground clearance and improving off-road capability. The Skyhook DSS EVO semi-active suspension has been further optimized for the Rally’s longer-travel suspension. Despite increased suspension travel compared to the non-Rally versions, ease of use has not been sacrificed. At Key-ON, the new Easy Lift function is activated, opening the compression valves in the forks and shock to reduce the effort required to lift the motorcycle from its side stand. During operation, the Minimum Preload function, first introduced on the Multistrada V4 S in 2022, reduces rear shock preload to “lower” the bike when coming to a stop and maneuvering at low speed.

The Multistrada V4 Rally has been designed to take the comfort of rider and passenger to the next level. A larger windshield that’s 1.6 inches taller and .8 inches wider increases protection from the elements, and new deflectors refine the aerodynamic package to decrease turbulence. To give passengers roomier accommodations and additional legroom, the top case mounting points have been moved further back and the tail section has been elongated. Passenger footrests with larger rubber inserts reduce vibration levels.

With extended fuel range and added off-road capability, riders can stretch the distance between point A and point B while riding in greater comfort and with more confidence—no matter the journey. Don’t let the journey be demanding. Ride what the journey demands.

V4 Granturismo: the engine for the next generation of Ducati Multistrada

Ducati presents the new V4 Granturismo engine.

The V4 Granturismo has been developed for maximum smoothness of operation and has record-breaking maintenance intervals
Compact and light, performing, featuring rich torque values: an engine designed for “adventouring” use, at the same time able to offer great thrills and sportiness

A new era begins in Borgo Panigale as Ducati presents to the public the new V4 Granturismo, the engine that will equip the long-awaited new generation of Ducati Multistrada, which is going to be unveiled on Wednesday 4 November.

An extremely compact, lightweight, high-performance, torque-rich engine designed to meet the needs required in “adventouring” use without neglecting emotion and sportiness.

Built with latest-generation technology as well as first-in-class materials available, in order to guarantee both durability and reliability, the V4 Granturismo stands out for its record-braking maintenance intervals for a motorcycle engine and has been created as the heart of a high-performance and dynamic bike, ready to explore every corner of the planet with its owner.

The engine was presented to the public with a video in which Claudio Domenicali – Ducati CEO – and the engineers and technicians who followed its development reveal all its secrets and features to the Ducati enthusiasts.

Every single technical choice made during the development of the V4 Granturismo project have the aim of ensuring maximum fluidity of operation combined with a substantial extension of maintenance intervals.

The new distribution includes a spring valve return system, that brings the maintenance intervals of the V4 Granturismo to 60,000 km. Figures obtained thanks to the in-depth expertise Ducati acquired in the use of materials, treatments and technical solutions developed around the Desmodromic system. All this, applied to a spring valve return system which stresses less the components if compared to the Desmo, brought to set an outstanding milestone never set before by a motorcycle engine. In addition, the engine ensures great regularity of operation at low revs and low loads, without forgetting the outright performance, the power at high revs and the reach of an authentic sports engine: The V4 Granturismo delivers 125 kW (170 hp) of power at 10,500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 125 Nm (12.7 Kgm) at 8,750 rpm. All this respecting the stringent Euro 5 homologation norms.

With its 66.7 kg of weight, the V4 Granturismo can boast a record lightness, being 1,2 kg lighter than the Testastretta twin-cylinder used on the previous Multistrada 1260. The 1,158 cc displacement came out as being the perfect point of connection in terms of performance, lightness and dimension of a V4 engine, capable of being incredibly light and compact. Compared to the previous generation engine, the V4 Granturismo results 85mm shorter, 95mm lower and only 20mm wider. This compact layout allowed Ducati engineers to house the engine in the frame more effectively and centrally in order to positively influence the position of the bike’s center of gravity, with all the resulting benefits.

The V4 Granturismo also inherits some elements derived from the experience gained by Ducati in the racing world, such as the decision to adopt a counter-rotating crankshaft, which improves the handling and agility of the bike, and to exploit the “Twin Pulse” technology, capable of offering a full-bodied but perfectly manageable power delivery at every speed.

To avoid a drop in thermal comfort due to the heat transmitted by the rear cylinders, the V4 Granturismo adopts the strategy of deactivating the rear bank at idle. In this way, when the bike is stationary, the combustion process in the cylinders is halted and this improves the thermal comfort of the rider and passenger thanks to the lowering of temperatures while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption.

2023 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Engine and chassis

The Rally’s 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine delivers 170 hp at 10,750 rpm and 89 ft-lb at 8,750 rpm, with a particularly linear torque curve to ensure a smooth and progressive response at all revs. The performance of this engine, combined with its total weight of only 147 lb, allows the V4 Granturismo to continue to be the benchmark for power and lightness. These performance numbers are combined with refined technical features, such as a counter-rotating crankshaft, derived from the experience gained by Ducati Corse in MotoGP, which works “against” the gyroscopic inertia of the wheels and dedicated torque curves for each gear to combine smooth power delivery throughout the rpm range.

For the chassis, the Multistrada V4 Rally continues with the monocoque aluminum frame, light and compact, with a double-sided swingarm shell-cast in aluminum. The Multistrada V4 Rally is offered exclusively with tubeless spoke rims, redesigned and lightened to improve its dynamic qualities.

Equipment

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is offered in oine version for North America: Adventure Travel & Radar, equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, aluminum side cases, heated grips and seats.

In addition to a benchmark level of standard equipment for the category, the Multistrada V4 Rally also has a wide range of accessories. Ducati has also created apparel items to enjoy the touring possibilities of the Multistrada V4 Rally. For example, the Atacama C2 suit has large areas dedicated to ventilation, detachable sleeves and three independent layers, including thermal lining and waterproof membrane, to offer comfort in all weather conditions. Or the Strada C5 suit, which is made of comfortable stretch fabric, robust and modular in thermal protection, thanks to the detachable Gore-Tex® internal membrane and an inner down jacket that can also be used on its own once the bike is parked.

Availability

The Multistrada V4 Rally will arrive in Ducati Red and Brushed Aluminum & Matt Black, the latter with an exposed brushed aluminum fuel tank, with black spoke rims for both.

Design

The Multistrada V4 Rally maintains a very strong aesthetic identity with the standard version—but with a greater globetrotter and off-road characteristics. You’ll find the stylistic elements that have always distinguished the Multistrada models. The aesthetic revision of the Multistrada V4 Rally is closely linked to the concept of function following form. The need for greater autonomy that resulted in a larger fuel tank capacity, led to the redesign of the front of the bike with more powerful bodywork that does not increase in height and maintains perfect integration with the slender and ergonomic-forward styling. The tank area, seen from the side, also plays a vital role in the design of the Multistrada V4 Rally. From the front, the unity of different surfaces and materials offers a very technical and muscular image.

To improve comfort for the passenger, who plays an important role in long-range touring for those traveling as a couple, the side case and top case attachments have been moved back. The spaces available for the legs and torso expands, significantly increasing roominess and comfort.

A careful study of the aerodynamics, which Ducati first applied in MotoGP, is a central theme for the Multistrada V4 family, which exploits all the experience gained to improve comfort, quality and riding pleasure. The Multistrada V4 Rally introduces new aerodynamic deflectors up front that increase protection for the rider and the passenger, ensuring that the aerodynamic flows end in a more rearward position than the standard Multistrada V4/V4 S version, expanding the calm air zone behind the fairing.

To improve thermal comfort, the conveyors in the leg area can now be divided to maintain the heat released by the engine in cold seasons. Two heat shields have been introduced to reduce the heat perceived by the rider and passenger, one on the rear subframe and one on the swingarm.

In addition, given the greater tendency for the Multistrada V4 Rally to be ridden for off-road use, the lower sump guard has been extended—now more effective in protecting the engine from impacts.

Engine

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is powered by the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, capable of delivering 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 89 ft-lb 1(25 Nm) at 8,750 rpm, with a particularly linear torque curve for a smooth and progressive response.

These performance numbers are combined with a weight of only 147 lb (66.7 kg) to define the framework of an engine with benchmark power and lightness characteristics.

Characterized by the counter-rotating crankshaft solution gained from experience in MotoGP, which works “against” the gyroscopic inertia of the wheels, the V4 Granturismo is equipped with torque curves dedicated to each gear to combine smooth delivery throughout the rpm range. Particular attention was dedicated to the development of the gear ratios, which on the entire Multistrada V4 range are characterized by a short first gear to facilitate off-road riding and low speed maneuvers, even with significant loads. The sixth gear is long enough to maintain an optimal cruising speed on highway journeys.

Even in the off-road worthy Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally, the V4 Granturismo engine maintains benchmark maintenance intervals, with oil changes every 9,000 mi (15,000 km), and valve clearance checks every 37,000 miles (60,000 km). No bike in production offers such extended maintenance intervals.

Extended deactivation system

To improve thermal comfort and fuel consumption, the Multistrada V4 Rally introduces a new extended electronic deactivation strategy for the rear bank of cylinders, a technical solution debuting for the first time on a production motorcycle. Until now the V4 Granturismo proceeded to deactivate the two rear cylinders during stops with the engine running, on the Multistrada V4 Rally Ducati introduced a strategy that extends deactivation also to riding at low revs in specific conditions.

With this new strategy, even with vehicle in motion, the control unit, depending on the gear engaged and other engine parameters (such as throttle opening and engine speed), interrupts the combustion of the rear bank at low speeds.

As speed increases or if you want to take full advantage of the engine’s power, the cylinders are restarted, guaranteeing all the character and performance of the V4 Granturismo.

The system is active in all Riding Modes, with a different calibration for each gear. However, it never works in first gear, which avoids standing starts with the rear bank deactivated.

Chassis

The chassis of the Multistrada V4 Rally confirms the lightweight and compact aluminum monocoque solution, characterized by the capability of producing precision and fluidity in cornering. The swingarm is in double-sided shell-cast aluminum.

Suspension

The Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped with semi-active Marzocchi suspension controlled by the Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) Evolution system. DSS allows the adjustment of preload and the hydraulic brakes in compression and rebound of the front fork and rear shock absorber. The hydraulic brake adjustment is instantaneous and is integrated into the Riding Modes and can be customized via the onboard computer. The semi-active system, enhanced by an additional sensor on the fork capable of transmitting the position of the front wheel moment by moment with greater precision and speed, interfaces with the various sensors on the bike to “read” riding style and road conditions and adjust the set-up continuously, guaranteeing a perfect trim in all riding and load conditions.

To increase the off-road capabilities of the Multistrada V4 Rally, the suspension features 7.9 in (200 mm) of travel, increasing by 1.2 in (30 mm) and .8 in (20 mm), respectively, at the front and rear, compared to the Multistrada V4. Ground clearance is raised to 9.1 in (230 mm), .4 in compared to the Multistrada V4, making it easier to ride in the most challenging trails.

Thanks to the DSS EVO system, it is possible to quickly adjust the starting position according to the various load situations or to rely on the Auto leveling function, which recognizes the position of the bike and adjusts it autonomously to bring the seat back to the ideal height from the ground in different riding configurations.

Minimum Preload and Easy Lift

To make it easier and safer to place your feet on the ground in low-speed maneuvers, especially with a passenger on board, the Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped with the Minimum Preload function. This allows you to reduce the motorcycle’s height by electronically resetting the shock absorber preload to its minimum setting.

To help ease the lifting/raising of the motorcycle from the side stand, the Easy Lift function acts on the suspension hydraulics.

The function completely opens the valves of the semi-active units for about three minutes when the panel is switched on to maximize the flow of oil inside them, which softens the suspension, making it easier to lift the bike off the side stand.

Tires and wheels

The Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped with lightened spoke wheels in sizes 3.00 x 19” at the front and 4.5 x 17” at the rear, which are wrapped in Pirelli SCORPION™ Trail II tires in sizes 120/70-19” front and 170/60-17” rear. The Multistrada V4 is also homologated for use with the Pirelli SCORPION™ Rally and SCORPION™ Rally STR, again in the 120/70-19” and 170/60-17” sizes.

Brembo braking system

The front system of the Multistrada V4 Rally is distinguished by Brembo Stylema monobloc radial calipers, radial master cylinders with adjustable levers, and double 13 in (330 mm) front discs. At the rear you’ll find a single 10.4 in (265 mm) diameter disc with a floating caliper, also made by Brembo.

Electronics

The Multistrada V4 family continues to set the benchmark from a technological and safety point of view. The Multistrada V4 was the first motorcycle equipped with a front and rear radar system to support Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems , making riding less tiring on long road sections, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD), indicating the presence of approaching vehicles in the blind spot of the mirrors.

As further support for active safety, the Multistrada V4 also offers ABS Cornering, which allows you to exploit braking power even when cornering; Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL), which improve night visibility by illuminating the part of the road on the inside of the corners; Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC); and Ducati Traction Control (DTC) in “cornering” version.

Sport Riding Mode

The Sport Riding Mode is the most performing on asphalt, delivering 170 hp with a direct and gutsy response, managed by a sporty set-up of the Skyhook suspension. The intervention of Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control is reduced to a minimum, and the ABS is set to level 2, allowing the controlled lifting of the rear wheel to maximize braking performance while maintaining Cornering functionality. It is the ideal choice for expert riders who want to enjoy the performance of the Multistrada V4 to the fullest.

Touring Riding Mode

In the Touring Riding Mode, the maximum power of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally remains 170 hp. Still, the delivery is softer and more progressive and the level of intervention of DTC and DWC is increased for greater vehicle controllability. The ABS is set to level 3, the safest and most prudent one thanks to the limitation of rear wheel lift, the optimization of combined braking and the active Cornering function. The suspension set-up is designed for long journeys and offers maximum comfort to both rider and passenger.

Urban Riding Mode

The power delivery of the Urban Riding Mode is reduced to 115 hp with a particularly softened and progressive response, while the suspension setting adapts to the roughness of city roads with their bumps and irregularities, managing the continuous surface changes in the best possible way. DTC and DWC move to a very high level of intervention. The ABS is set to level 3.

Enduro Riding Mode

The Enduro Riding Mode is what allows the Multistrada V4 Rally to make the most of its off-road potential, determined by the 19-inch front wheel, by the ergonomics specifically designed for riding while standing (further evolved compared to the Multistrada V4) and by the new suspension’s ground clearance.

The Enduro Riding Mode limits the engine power to 115 hp with a dedicated Engine Mode, characterized by a more dynamic and direct response than the one of equal power dedicated to the Urban Mode. The Enduro Riding Mode also sets the DSS Evolution specifically for off-road riding, indicating the selected load mode with a specific icon, depicting an off-road helmet. The DTC and DWC systems switch to the lower intervention level and the ABS is set to level 1, suitable for off-road use on low-grip terrain. In this case, the rear wheel lift detection function, the Cornering function and the intervention on the rear wheel are disabled.

Ducati Safety Pack & ABS Cornering

The Multistrada V4 Rally offers maximum active safety thanks to the Ducati Safety Pack, which, through the cornering functions of its Bosch 10.3ME ABS when applied to the Brembo system, can modulate braking power independently on both wheels, even while the motorcycle is leaned over, avoiding the risk of a fall due to wheel locking. The ABS Cornering receives the inclination data of the bike in real-time from the inertial platform and interacts with the Riding Modes to adjust to the riding conditions and situations.

Stability and safety are also increased by the Electronic Combined Braking System, which modulates the action on the front and rear in the Urban and Touring Riding Modes. The system reduces its functionality in the Sport Riding Mode and is not activated in Enduro mode. This allows the Multistrada V4 Rally to quickly adapt to various road conditions.

The Ducati ABS can be set on three levels that change its behavior and functionality. These levels are associated by default with the different Riding Modes. The lifting of the rear end during braking, locking of the rear wheel and potential locking of the front when the bike is leaned over are situations managed differently by the three levels. These levels range from the more precautionary setting associated with Urban and Touring, to the one more suitable for dynamic riding for Sport, up to the least intrusive one, the Enduro mode, which limits the action of the anti-lock system to the front and allows the rear to drift on uneven surfaces. The ABS can only be deactivated in the Enduro Riding Mode.

EBC (Engine Brake Control)

The EBC engine brake management system derives from the one developed by Ducati for racing, allowing the rider to choose the intensity of the engine brake applied by the rear wheel when the throttle is closed. The EBC system offers three levels of intervention.

DTC (Ducati Traction Control)

An integral part of the Ducati Safety Pack, the DTC manages the loss of grip of the rear wheel by integrating the data from the wheel speed sensors and the inertial platform, while also considering the lean angle. The DTC is therefore able to control the rear wheel slip, increasing the performance and active safety of the bike. The system allows you to choose between 8 different intervention levels based on the conditions, riding style and ability of the rider.

Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC)

The system increases the rider’s safety by analyzing the set-up of the bike, detecting wheelies and managing engine delivery accordingly. The DWC is integrated within the Riding Modes and is adjustable on 8 levels.

Hands-Free ignition

The Multistrada V4 Rally uses a Hands-Free starting system, a solution introduced in the 2010 Multistrada. The system allows you to keep the key in your pocket and start the motorcycle (or simply unlock the steering lock) with the appropriate button. The tank’s opening is controlled by the mechanical “flip” key integrated into the electronic key. Alternatively, the user can choose the optional keyless tank cap.

Vehicle Hold Control (VHC)

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally features the Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) system, allowing you to start safely and comfortably, even uphill. By activating the brake control with the motorcycle stationary for a specific time, the system stops the motorcycle by activating the rear brake autonomously and managing the pressure on the brake during the start, leaving the user only the task of modulating the gas and clutch.

Radar technology

The Ducati Multistrada V4 was the first production motorcycle in the world to adopt radar technology, advanced assistance systems capable of supporting and making riding experience more comfortable. On the Multistrada V4, this tech supports two functions: Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, which substantially improve riding comfort and assistance, especially on long highway journeys.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The radar positioned in the front of the vehicle, perfectly integrated into the front of the Multistrada V4, controls the operation of the ACC Adaptive Cruise Control that automatically adjusts the distance using controlled braking and acceleration (selectable on four levels) from other vehicles when riding at speeds between 19 and 100 mph. This car-derived system has evolved and was developed according to the dynamics and ergonomics of a two-wheeled vehicle. In particular, the system’s power to decelerate and accelerate has been limited to ensure the rider can maintain constant control of the vehicle in any situation. The ACC can be inserted and adjusted using the dedicated buttons on the left switch housing. Thanks to the DQS up & down, the rider can shift up or down without ACC deactivating during the acceleration and deceleration phases.

Blind Spot Detection

The rear radar, positioned under the tail light, can detect vehicles positioned in the so-called blind spot (i.e. the area not visible either directly by the rider or in the rear-view mirror). The BSD (Blind Spot Detection) system indicates this situation using the LEDs positioned on the rear-view mirrors, illuminating the one set on the side where it detects the presence of a vehicle in the blind angle of the rider’s view. The BSD also indicates vehicles approaching from behind at high speed. In both cases, if the user activates the direction indicator expressing the intention to change lanes, the BSD makes the LED flash, indicating a potentially dangerous situation. The user can adjust the brightness of the system LEDs on three different levels thanks to the dedicated menu within the dashboard.

Technological dashboard

The Multistrada V4 Rally is equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT dashboard with mineral glass that offers optimal readability in all conditions. The graphics are complete and legible, characterized by a circular tachometer with a digital hand, gear indicator, fuel level, external temperature, engine temperature, electronic control levels, Riding Modes, suspension settings and navigator map. The latter is activated through the Sygic GPS navigation app, implemented thanks to the mirroring functionality of the phone, which also allows you to manage phone calls, find your contacts, or listen to your music through the Ducati Multimedia System (DMS).

All management takes place through the joystick positioned on the left switch housing, which allows simple and quick menu navigation. Changing Riding Modes and suspension settings are performed through dedicated buttons, while the management of the Adaptive Cruise Control is controlled with + and – keys, which are used to increase or decrease the distance to be maintained from the vehicle in front of the motorcycle when riding.

The mobile phone, which can be kept safely charged, is now housed in a new ventilated compartment equipped with a power socket under the flap on the left side of the front fairing. There is also a second 12V charging socket on the right side of the dashboard. The Multistrada V4 Rally also offers a tire pressure monitoring system as an accessory.
