The 2023 KLX300SM takes the fun to the streets in full supermoto style. Developed alongside the KLX300 dual-sport, the KLX300SM shares a similar engine and chassis with its dual-sport counterpart. Where the models differ is over styling and use, as the KLX300SM receives a host of
supermoto inspired components. This includes 17” front and rear wheels paired with street tires, supermoto tuned suspension and aggressive styling. These differences establish the KLX300SM as the ultimate lightweight supermoto. The KLX300SM will be offered in Neon Green and Ebony colorways

The KLX300SM ultimate lightweight supermoto motorcycle is powered by a 292cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine. Experience a rewarding spread of power across the rev range. Smooth power delivery and crisp throttle response helps riders of all skill levels maneuver through stop-and-go city traffic, navigate country back roads, or experience the exhilaration of supermoto racing at their local track. Electric start offers easy starting; fuel injection helps with reliable starting in a wide range of conditions and contributes to improved fuel economy.
SUPERMOTO-TUNED PERFORMANCE
TAKE THE FUN TO THE STREETS
The KLX300SM motorcycle is built with a slim, lightweight perimeter frame that’s maneuverable but rigid at higher speeds to help with straight-line stability. With the smaller front wheel, the caster angle (25°) and short wheelbase contribute to quick handling. Suspension performance offers 9.1 inches of travel up front and 8.1 inches in the rear, ideal for supermoto riding. The 43mm inverted cartridge-style front fork has adjustable compression damping to optimize fork performance for conditions and personal preference. The Uni-Trak rear suspension offers bump absorption and rebound damping adjustability, and fully adjustable preload, allowing riders to tailor shock settings to personal preference. Substantial braking power comes thanks to a large 300mm semi-floating petal disc and twin-piston caliper up front and a 240mm petal rear disc and single-piston caliper. Agile supermoto performance is further enabled with 17-inch wheels and road tires contributing to better handling on the street.
COMFORTABLE ERGONOMICS
MAKE COMFORT A PRIORITY
An upright and relaxed riding position makes it comfortable to ride the KLX300SM motorcycle. Rider-friendly ergonomics are complemented by a thick-padded seat, rubber dampened footpegs, and a 33.9-inch seat height that allows riders to comfortably reach the ground at stops which increases confidence. The innovative radiator fan directs hot air down and away from the rider and from high touch areas for added comfort in traffic.

The aggressive supermoto-inspired bodywork on the race-inspired KLX300SM motorcycle delivers performance and attitude. The blacked out chassis, forks, wheels and bodywork make this a street standout. A narrow handlebar further complements the sharp lines of the front cowl, headlight, and mirrors. From the cockpit, all-digital instrumentation is on display, including a digital speedometer, bar-type tachometer, clock, odometer, dual trip meters, and a range of warning/indicator lamps.

Over the course of the past several years, the powersports industry has witnessed a significant increase in popularity with novice and experienced riders alike, turning to motorcycles, ATVs, side-x-sides, and personal watercraft. To continue to meet this growing demand Kawasaki is moving up the production and introduction of its 2023 Ninja ZX-6R supersport, KLX300SM supermoto and KLX300 dual-sport motorcycles that will arrive in Kawasaki dealerships during the late spring months so that more riders have a chance to “Let the good times roll.”

ENGINE
Compact Liquid-Cooled Engine
• 292cc displacement is 17% more than typical 250cc class models for more power while maintaining the light weight and nimble feel of a 250.
• Flat top piston with pentroof combustion chamber delivers 11.1:1 compression ratio.
• Lightweight piston, piston pin and connecting rod allow power-producing revs without excessive vibration.
• A gear-driven engine balancer ensures smooth power delivery throughout the powerband, delivering greater rider comfort on long rides.
• High-capacity Denso radiators similar to the KX™ line provide high cooling efficiency. Their slim profile and tightly packed cores make the radiators smaller and lighter, while the special fin design provides excellent heat dispersion.
• Radiator fan cover located behind the radiator directs hot air down and away from the rider, significantly increasing comfort when negotiating heavy traffic. Redirecting the air also helps keep the tank and other parts that contact the rider cooler, further increasing rider comfort.
• Catalyzer and secondary air system help reduce exhaust emissions so that the KLX300 SM meets strict emissions regulations and can be sold in all 50 states.
Electrofusion Cylinder(KP)
• The incredibly hard coating in the aluminum cylinder bore means superior heat transfer with less weight.
• It holds lubrication well, resists abrasion and seizure, and allows tight piston-to-cylinder clearances for more horsepower.
4-Valve DOHC Cylinder Head(KP)
• Camshaft profiles from the KLX300R contribute to top-end performance and quick throttle response.
• 4-valve cylinder head provides maximum valve area for optimum flow.
• Boosts low-end torque.
• Cam profiles complement intake port design and contribute to the smooth, quick-revving engine character.
• A cam lobe for each valve with shim-under tappets has less reciprocating weight for efficiency at high rpm.
Kawasaki DFI(KP) System
• 34 mm throttle body is equipped with a sub-throttle that contributes to mid-high rpm performance.
• Ultra-fine atomizing 10-hole injector helps boost performance and provide very smooth throttle response.
• DFI provides easy starting, smooth idling, increased performance and better fuel mileage.
Electric Starter
• Electric starter and the Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release (KACR)(KP), which automatically lifts an exhaust valve at cranking rpm, makes starting the KLX300 SM easy.
