2023 Yamaha WR250F: VICTORY: PLAY FAST.

Introducing the new 2023 Yamaha WR250F…

Born from the Supercross‑dominating YZ250F, then tuned for enduro riding to offer the fastest way through tight singletrack.

Based on the championship winning YZ250F, the 2023 WR250F is tuned with enduro specific settings to bring the fun and provide the fastest way through technical single-track. With features like Yamaha’s revolutionary front-intake, rear-exhaust, liquid-cooled, DOHC 4-stroke power plant, wide ratio transmission and a range of off-road features, the WR250F is equally at home on the trail or at the racetrack!

The Yamaha WR250F gets more powerful and sharper for the new season with a whole range of the latest advanced technology from the Grand Prix-winning YZ250F motocross bike. Featuring a newly designed high-performance engine and a specially adapted aluminium chassis, the latest WR250F is built to play fast.

A new YZ250F-type cylinder head with a wider intake port and new exhaust camshaft gives more rapid mid to top-end performance while retaining the WR250F’s strong low rpm torque – and a new lightweight aluminium beam frame from Yamaha’s motocross bike has been enduro-tuned to give the right balance of rigidity for more precise feel and accurate surface feedback over tough terrain.

And a lighter and more powerful front braking system gives you ultimate controllability – and special enduro features include a new multi-function meter and a revised exhaust and muffler design. The light-feeling clutch and 6-speed wide-ratio transmission are ready for the most extreme challenge – and with the Power Tuner smartphone app and a 2-mode engine map switch, the intelligent WR250F can be set up to master virtually any riding conditions.

The WR250F is built to shake up the world of enduro and change the way that you look at the 250cc 4-stroke class. Featuring the very latest motocross technology from Yamaha’s Grand Prix-winning YZ250F – and equipped with a range of enduro-specific features – it’s one of the most exciting bikes of the decade.

ENDURO SPECIFIC FEATURES

WR250F features a high-capacity radiator with fan, large 7.9 litre fuel tank, rugged composite skid plate and a high mounted retractable side stand to tackle the toughest trails. Other features include a quick-adjust clutch, wide YZ-type 55mm platform foot pegs, four-position rubber-mounted handlebar clamps and aluminum handlebars for added rider convenience.

HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE

The liquid-cooled 250cc four-stroke, DOHC, 4-valve (titanium), single-cylinder engine with fuel injection produces stronger mid- to high-range power. Tuned specifically for XC/woods racing with a broad, easy-to-use powerband and excellent power characteristics throughout the rev range.

MULTI FUNCTION METER

The meter features two modes: Standard and Race. Standard mode displays the speedometer, two trip meters, and clock functions while Race mode features average speed, timer and trip functionality. The meter has integrated low fuel and engine warning lights.

2023 Yamaha WR250F Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

ENGINE

  • Rearward-Slanted Cylinder Design
The WR250F’s distinct rearward-slanted cylinder design—complete with rear exhaust and forward-mounted intake system—features a cylinder head that works with the frame geometry for optimized weight distribution. Inside, the engine features all of the updates found in the race-focused YZ250F: a straight intake tract, aggressive cam profiles, high-compression “box bridge” piston design with DLC-coated piston pin and more.
  • Enduro Engine Tuning
WR250F-specific ignition and fuel injection maps are optimized for enduro riding and racing, for exceptionally smooth and controllable midrange power with longer-lasting pulling power in the top-end.
  • Unique Intake and Exhaust Systems
The WR250F features a two-piece air filter that works in conjunction with the tuned intake tract length and a WR-specific muffler to boost the linear feeling of traction and drive. Not only is the WR250F muffler completely mechanical—eliminating the need to repack—it integrates a U.S. Forestry Service-compliant spark arrestor too.
  • High-Capacity Radiator
The WR250F uses a large radiator with excellent cooling capacity shared with the YZ250F motocrosser, complete with a cooling fan for consistent performance during the toughest enduro rides.
  • Electric Starter System
The WR250F features a lead acid battery powered compact electric starter system to simplify restarts on the trail and add convenience everywhere else.
  • Advanced Fuel Injection
The engine breathes through a 44mm Mikuni® throttle body fed by a high-pressure electric pump to ensure optimum fuel atomization and power for a wide range of riding elevations and conditions.

CHASSIS/SUSPENSION

  • YZ250F-Derived Bilateral Beam Frame
Yamaha’s refined aluminum frame provides high performance on technical, aggressive terrain sections and comfort for those long days in the saddle, with frame spars and engine mounts developed alongside the YZ250FX cross country racer to centralize mass for the best possible balance of bump absorption, stiffness and rider feel.
  • Compact Body and Seat Design
The WR250F features stylish bodywork from tip to tail, including a large 2.15 gallon, mass-centralized fuel tank. The body design is narrow for more comfortable knee grip and control, while the seat gives the rider additional room to move. Even the rear fender is designed for added rigidity to make moving the machine easier.
  • Class-Leading Suspension
The WR250F’s industry-leading, fully adjustable KYB® coil spring-type fork with speed sensitive damping provides exceptional balance between handling and bump absorption, with mid-speed valving tuned for improved feel at slower fork speeds.
  • Cross Country Wheels and Tires
The WR250F features an 18-inch rear wheel to help prevent pinch flats and provide additional comfort across rough, broken terrain.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

  • Enduro-Ready Detailing
The WR250F includes a range of enduro-specific upgrades compared to the YZ250F motocrosser, including a wide, full-coverage composite engine guard, 18-inch rear wheel, large 2.15-gallon fuel tank, radiator fan, sealed O-ring chain, fuel level and engine warning lights, steel rear sprocket, and a high-mounted folding aluminum kickstand.
  • Compact Headlight Unit
The WR250F’s updated headlight fairing and compact taillight unit centralize mass and improve the racy, agile styling of the machine.
  • Embedded Graphics
Yamaha’s unique embedded graphics are built into the bodywork for extended durability, resisting both peeling and damage.
