2025 Honda CB650R: MINIMALIST PERFECTION.
Introducing the 2025 Honda CB650R…
When it comes to do-it-all performance, our CB650R has long been the class of the field. And this year there’s a new feature that blows everything else right out of the water: the Honda E-Clutch. Experienced sportbike riders can use it like a quick shifter. More casual riders will find it makes cruising and relaxed riding hassle-free. And if you’ve never driven or ridden a vehicle with a manual transmission, E-Clutch helps eliminate the need to learn shifter-clutch coordination, along with worries about stalling or jerky starts or sudden stops. Plus, the CB650R combines sportbike performance and handling along with a seating position that’s a little more upright and more comfortable for many riders. We’ve also given the CB650R a bigger five-inch Thin Film Transistor (TFT) instrument display. If you wish there were a version with MotoGP-inspired full coverage bodywork, we hear ya: Take a look at our CBR650R.

ENGINEERING
Honda E-CLUTCH
E-Clutch is the best of all worlds: You’ll still be shifting your bike with your left foot, but you no longer have to worry about using a handlebar-mounted clutch to do it. And if you do want the control that the clutch lever gives you, no worries—it’s still there. Plus, E-Clutch performs like a quick-shifter for both upshifts and downshifts—something hard-charging sport riders are going to love.
Honda SELECTABLE TORQUE CONTROL
With Honda Selectable Torque Control System (HSTC) the CB650R offers you peace of mind during aggressive riding conditions. The system adjusts engine power to optimize torque at the rear wheel, reducing rear-wheel slip. And here’s the best part: you can turn it on or turn it off with a handlebar-mounted switch.
PERFORMANCE
649cc DOHC ENGINE
Engines like this are what Honda does best. The four-cylinder design makes it smoother and faster revving than most twins, and offers ample low- to midrange torque, plus plenty of power through the entire rev range.
4.1-GALLON FUEL TANK
A bike as versatile as the CB650R needs plenty of range, and the 4.1-gallon fuel tank provides just that.
FOUR-INTO-ONE EXHAUST
Power, style and an unmistakable growl—you get all three with the four-into-one exhaust system on the CB650R.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
An exhaust system needs to accomplish four things: To quiet the engine without robbing power, to help tune engine output, to sound great, and it’s a huge style element on any bike. The CB650R’s exhaust knocks it out of the park on all counts, and sounds like only an inline four can.
REFINED INTAKE SYSTEM
The CB650R features a twin-duct intake design, engineered to ram cool, dense air into the airbox, increasing horsepower.
SIX-SPEED TRANSMISSION
Smooth, nearly seamless shifts and gear ratios matched to the way you want to ride: thanks to E-Clutch those are two of the characteristics that make this Honda so much fun to ride.
SPECIAL ENGINE TUNING
Changes to valve timing and piston shapes (compared to the previous generation CB650F) have improved engine response, especially from the idle to 8000 rpm, a big advantage in urban environments.
STYLE
CAFÉ STYLING
This bike looks unique, because it is. Its modern Café design combines elements from pure sportbikes and sporting nakeds. Sometimes less is more, and the CB650R makes a bold styling statement wherever you ride it.
NEW, LARGER INSTRUMENT DISPLAY
Now measuring a full five inches, the TFT (Thin Film Transistor) instrument display is bright, easy to read, and packed with information.
LED HEADLIGHT
The CB650R uses the same LED headlight as our CB1000R. The headlight is both brighter and smaller than a conventional design, and the black bezel contributes in a big way to the CB650R’s sense of style.
TRAPEZOIDAL BODY LAYOUT
It sounds like a mouthful, but it just means that the CB650R has some awesome lines, and that it just flat out looks right.
HANDLING
SHOWA® SFF-BP FRONT SUSPENSION
Great handling and precise steering demand a premium front suspension. That’s why the CB650R features a Showa Separate Function Front Fork Big Piston unit (SFF-BP). It offers both reduced weight, superior rigidity, and excellent overall performance.
Y-SPOKE ALUMINUM WHEELS
The aluminum wheels feature “Y”-shaped spokes that help reduce unsprung weight for better handling.
COMFORT
HANDLEBAR
A bike’s handlebar makes a huge difference in how you relate to your machine. We fine-tuned the handlebar angle, and everyone agrees it’s one of our best, making tight, slow-speed turns easier.
FRAME
The twin-spar frame incorporates pivot plates, engine hangers, seat rails, and other components that all reduce weight. It’s light, strong, and provides the basis for the CB650R’s stellar handling.
NEUTRAL/SPORTING RIDING POSITION
One of the most rider-friendly aspects of the CB650R’s design is how you sit on this bike. You’re ready for aggressive riding, but you’re still comfortable. You can see what’s going on around you. And your riding sessions can last for hours at a time with little fatigue.
RADIAL-MOUNT FRONT BRAKES
Featuring large-diameter 310mm discs, the CB650R also comes with radial-mounted four-piston calipers. The result is premium sportbike stopping power that’s linear and easy to modulate.
REAR-DISC BRAKE
A 240mm hydraulic disc at the rear complements the twin front discs for plenty of stopping power.
Neo Sports Café
New school meets old school; stripped down retro looks exude mechanical minimalism.
Sporty angles
Defined by trapezoidal shaping, with the compact seat cowl set aggressively high.
Crisp new angled LED headlight
CB1000R specification with aluminium bezel and distinctive LED light signature.
Inline Four-Cylinder engine
The only four-cylinder naked; nothing beats the smooth rush through the midrange, electrifying high rpm climb and exhaust note that draws adrenaline.
Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)
HSTC smoothly manages rear wheel traction, wet or dry, so riding the busy street – or attacking a set of corners – is always a thrill.
High Quality Suspension and Brakes
Showa 41mm SFF-BP USD front forks offer precise control and fingertip feel for front tyre grip. Dual, radial mount four-piston calipers grip 310mm wave-style discs hard.
New Full Colour 5-Inch TFT Screen
Backlit for readability with optical bonding to reduce glare, the new 5-inch screen is intuitive to use and features the smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync.
Agile New Style
Neo Sports Café moves on. Tightly wrapped angles outline new sophistication, matched to a minimal, upswept tail unit and crisp new angled LED headlight.
Power for the Ride
It’s all in your right hand. The DOHC inline four-cylinder engine produces 70kW (94 hp) @ peak – up to a free-spinning 12,000rpm redline – with 63Nm torque. For A2 licence holders there’s a 35kW conversion available (performed by a Honda dealer) and then ready for full power once an A licence is held. Because power needs control, an assist and slipper clutch works to prevent rear wheel lock-up through hard braking and downshifting. And, for next level road visibility, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) activates the rear hazards under hard stop situations.
Make The Connection
This bike’s got your back. The 5-inch full-colour TFT display is all new, operated a by backlit handlebar switchgear with a very natural hand position allowing clear visibility in all conditions. Both have been designed together for easy use, and the screen is engineered to minimise glare in bright sunlight. It also offers full connectivity through the Honda RoadSync app. Available on both Android and iOS smartphones, you can access on-screen turn-by-turn navigation, make and receive calls or listen to music while you ride.
E-Clutch – Next Level Riding
Unique to Honda, E-Clutch brings the fun. And choice. You can use the clutch in a conventional manner. Or let E-Clutch do the work leave the clutch lever alone. That’s it. Setting off from standstill, shifting up and down, and coming to a stop all you need do is operate the gear lever. E-Clutch does the rest – smoothly, instantly – like an expert sports rider. It offers you so much more control, whether you’re carving through a set of corners or busy traffic. And need the clutch for any reason? No problem. Use it anytime.
