2025 Honda Grom SP: REV UP THE JOY.

Introducing the 2025 Honda Grom SP…

Small in stature, but huge in popularity and fun, the Honda Grom is back with a fresh new look for the 2025 model year. Marking the fourth generation of the immensely popular pint-sized model, this update brings redesigned bodywork for an aggressive new look. Popular in part for its customization potential, the Grom can be customized via a full range of new Honda Accessories, including both storage and style upgrades. Appealing to riders of all backgrounds, thanks to its approachable, peppy and smile-inducing character, the Grom continues to be one of the powersports industry’s top-selling models—and the undisputed emperor of the miniMOTO world.

Erase what you know about size and power because the 2025 Honda Grom has once again rewritten the rules. It’s not just a great ride; it’s a blast in a tiny package. Updated with restyled sleek bodywork for this year, the original miniMOTO machine offers three ways to smile: the standard Grom in Candy Blue, Pearl White, and Cherry Red; the Grom ABS in Pearl White with stellar front-wheel anti-lock brakes; and the Grom SP in stealthy Matte Black Metallic with stand-out graphics. Ready for customization with easy-swap body panels, this fun sport motorcycle is creativity on wheels. Get ready because joy rides just got even more joyous.

HISTORY

Since its 2014 model-year introduction, the Grom has always been about enjoyment, serving as an inspiration and focal point for riding clubs and social-media groups, while also supporting a healthy aftermarket of accessory and performance parts. Eliciting laughs from those who ride it, thumbs-ups from fellow motorists and traffic-light smiles from pedestrians, the Grom is also a motorcycling evangelist, spreading positive powersports vibes wherever it goes. For the 2017 model year, the model underwent a comprehensive redesign for a sharper, more aggressive look.

The Grom’s current iteration (introduced for the 2022 model year) features striking bodywork that facilitates customization, plus a peppy engine with a fifth gear. As always, the model boasts amazing gas mileage, low operating and maintenance costs, attention to detail and Honda’s legendary reliability.

For the 2025 model year, the Grom receives refreshed styling with all new bodywork and an available host of new, innovative accessories that elevate the miniMOTO experience.

Importantly, the Grom’s success has also served as the springboard for a trio of retro-themed miniMOTO siblings: the Monkey and Super Cub in model-year 2019 and the Trail125 for model-year 2021.

Updated Grom Headlines Honda miniMOTO/Scooter Announcement

  • Iconic Grom gets a fresh new look for the 2025 model year Affordable, approachable Navi continues to win over new riders ADV160, Ruckus, Metropolitan scooters return for 2025
  • American Honda revealed today that the Grom—one of the powersports industry’s most popular models—gets an exciting aesthetic makeover for the 2025 model year. In the same announcement, Honda confirmed the return of several other models that are small in size but big in fun: the incredibly affordable Navi is back, offered in a host of fun new colors, while three popular scooters—the “City Adventure” ADV160, the industrial Ruckus and the Euro-influenced Metropolitan—are again being offered for 2025.

“When it comes to diminutive powersports models, Honda consistently outpaces the competition,” said Colin Miller, Assistant Manager of Public Relations at American Honda. “There’s no better example of that than the Grom, and we know that the enjoyable, sporty vibe of this gen-4 refresh will be a hit with our customers. Following in the Grom’s miniMOTO tradition is the Navi, which has quickly captured the hearts of American customers looking for a bike that’s easy to ride and easy on the wallet. On the scooter front, the ADV160, Ruckus and Metropolitan all possess the mix of practicality and fun that this category demands. Add it all up, and the five models in this announcement are a reminder that at least sometimes, smaller can be better.”

The updated Grom and other Honda miniMOTO models will be on display this weekend during the Barber Small Bore event at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.

2025 Honda Grom SP Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

DESIGN / STYLING

The fourth-generation Grom is outfitted with almost entirely new bodywork, giving the miniMOTO icon a fresh look. From the headlight cover to the shrouds, tank cover and side covers, each component has been carefully redesigned, offering aggressive style, while prioritizing rider comfort. The four main body panels quickly attach and detach, facilitating customization—a hallmark of Grom culture that is welcomed by customers eager to personalize their rides. The Grom’s sleek aesthetic is enhanced by its blacked-out engine, exhaust, wheels and swingarm.

Practical features include an ample fuel capacity of 1.59 gallons, and the LCD digital dash has a gear-position indicator, alongside the speedometer, tachometer, twin trip meters, fuel gauge and clock.

ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

The Grom’s appeal is more than skin deep. The engine is a modern design that includes a fifth gear for comfortable cruising. The gear ratios provide not only peppy acceleration from low speeds, but good top speed as well.

The 125cc two-valve, overhead-cam, air-cooled engine has a compression ratio of 10:1. This is achieved via an undersquare design, with a narrow bore and long stroke—specifically 50.0mm and 63.1mm, respectively.

State-of-the-art PGM-FI fuel injection assures optimal fuel delivery and highly efficient combustion. A large, 2.5-liter airbox houses a panel-type, wet-paper filter with a 10,000-mile life in normal riding conditions. Many Grom owners prefer to do their own maintenance, so the replaceable oil filter is a welcome feature.

Do-it-yourselfers also appreciate the exhaust downpipe and muffler, which are two separate parts to simplify replacement.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

The suspension comprises a 31mm inverted fork and a single shock. The brakes feature a dual-piston front caliper with 220mm rotor, and a single-piston rear caliper with 190mm rotor. Wheels are a 12-inch cast design—a signature feature of the Grom—with a five-spoke pattern.

Of special note, the available front ABS system operates through an IMU (inertial measurement unit) to reduce the possibility of front-wheel lockup and to keep the rear wheel down during aggressive braking.

ACCESSORIES

For 2025, a range of new accessories are available for the Grom. The Knuckle Visors, Meter Visor and Under Cowl offer both style and function while the Cloth Seat Bag, Rear Carrier and Cloth Saddlebags bring a new level of utility. The Grom SP is outfitted with the Under Cowl as standard equipment.
