HUSQVARNA MOBILITY EXCITED TO REVEAL NEW GENERATION TC 85 FOR 2025

NEW FRAME, IMPROVED ENGINE, AND MULTIPLE TECHNICAL UPDATES TRANSFORM THE POPULAR SMALL CAPACITY MACHINE

For 2025, Husqvarna Mobility is pleased to announce a new generation TC 85 to underline its continued development of high-performance, 2-stroke minicycles. The competition-focused machine is now built around an all-new chassis that offers significant improvements to handling and stability, while an updated engine boosts bottom to mid-range power. Further components introduced to improve the on-track experience for all young riders include the new WP shock, swingarm, and ergonomic bodywork. Rounding out the changes, new graphics to match the full-size models create a modern and unified look for the class-leading TC 85.

With the previous generation model raced to victory in the 2023 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, the new TC 85 is built upon proven foundations and beautifully crafted. For 2025, a new frame with refined geometry considerably improves handling and stability. Mirroring the construction of the full-size machines, the new WP XACT shock, which is 16 mm shorter than before to ensure a more balanced chassis, is mounted onto the upper frame tube. This design creates a more planted feel for the TC 85 and is a huge benefit on rough tracks and big jumps. Additionally, the steering head angle is reduced by a half degree and positioned 6 mm closer to the centre of the chassis for enhanced cornering, especially when exiting turns.

The 85 cc 2-stroke engine benefits from several new components, all introduced to create stronger power in the low to mid-range without sacrificing top-end performance. The updates include a new cylinder head, spark plug, ignition, and exhaust, with the settings inside the Keihin carburettor adjusted to suit the improved engine. Finally, when compared to the outgoing generation, the engine is rotated three degrees upwards at the front, and by pivoting from the same mounting point at the swingarm, the weight is distributed more effectively for improved cornering and jumping.

The swingarm itself is new and 300 g lighter thanks to a refined casting process. Together, the new frame, WP XACT shock, and swingarm combine to reduce the overall height of the TC 85. These changes, introduced alongside new ergonomic bodywork, ensure young riders can move around on the TC 85 much more easily, which inspires confidence and allows them to compete with improved control. In addition, a modernised rider triangle created by the new footrests, handlebars, and lower seat further enhances the riding experience and makes the new generation model incredibly effortless to ride.

To maximise the performance and allow riders to personalise the new TC 85, a concise selection of Technical Accessories has been developed. The range includes high quality, competition-focused components for both the engine and chassis to further enhance the riding experience. Additionally, the Functional Offroad Apparel Collection features a comprehensive range of apparel designed to perform on track. This ensures all youngsters can ride with maximum comfort, safety, style, and to the best of their ability at all times.

The 2025 TC 85 is available worldwide from July 2024 at all authorised Husqvarna Mobility dealerships. Availability may differ from country to country.

2025 Husqvarna TC85 19/16 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Performance

Engine

Continuing to utilise the latest 2-stroke technology, the TC 85 engine remains well ahead of its 85 cc competition by offering improved torque for 2025. A new cylinder head, spark plug, and ignition contributes to a 120 g weight saving over the previous generation while boosting overall performance. Two engine maps ensure the TC 85 performs in all conditions with a close ratio six-speed gearbox and hydraulic clutch completing the build of this highly competitive machine.

Cylinder

A light and durable aluminium cylinder is designed around an innovative powervalve system that ensures unrivalled performance. For 2025, a new cylinder head further improves bottom end to mid-range power, which reduces the need for riders to feather the clutch in heavy track conditions.

Crankcase

Manufactured using a high pressure die-cast production process, the crankcases are designed with thinner wall thickness to save weight, while retaining strength and durability. This design also aids in a more compact arrangement, positioning the shaft arrangements closer to the center of gravity for improved handling.

Clutch

The reliable, lightweight hydraulic system from Miba ensures consistent play, even in the toughest of conditions, and offers a near maintenance-free operation. The clutch itself is housed inside a strong steel clutch basket for consistent action and assured durability.

Chassis

Frame

Fully redesigned for improved handling and stability, the all-new frame is constructed from hydro-formed chromium molybdenum steel. This proven material is not only strong, but it offers precise flex and rigidity to further enhance the known agility of the TC 85. Inside the new frame, the engine is repositioned to distribute its weight in the most effective way, which together with a flatter steering head angle leads to easier cornering for all young riders.

WP XACT front forks

State-of-the-art, 43 mm WP XACT AER forks with new settings offer exceptional damping and comfort. Lightweight with 278 mm of travel, the left leg features an air spring that is easily adjusted with a pump to accommodate rider preference, weight, and track conditions.

WP XACT PDS shock

The WP XACT PDS shock absorber is fitted to the TC 85. PDS, “progressive damping system,” allows the rear end to stay stable over smaller bumps or rough terrain while also soaking up bigger hits with ease.

Subframe

Made from lightweight aluminum, the subframe features a short and compact profile. The profile not only contributes to the overall low weight but also improves mass centralization.

Foot Pegs

The all-new foot pegs are larger than the previous generation to enhance grip while the overall design prevents mud from building up for assured control at all times. An improved mounting concept ensures the foot pegs are less susceptible to catching on the side of deep ruts, to help the TC 85 maintain forward momentum.

Components

Bodywork

All-new ergonomic bodywork is precisely scaled to the proportions of the average 85 cc rider, which helps build confidence while offering unrestricted movement. Slimmer overall thanks to the new frame, the new bodywork allows youngsters to grip tighter with their knees for complete control.

Brakes

Floating callipers from Formula are paired with a Galfer 240 mm front disc and 220 mm rear disc to provide confidence-inspiring braking in all conditions. Formula master cylinders and brake hoses ensure maximum performance and durability.

Wheels

Black Excel rims (19 inch in the front and 16 inch in the rear) are laced to CNC-machined hubs using strong spokes to create a lightweight and robust wheelset. The wheels are equipped with Maxxis Maxxcross MX-ST tyres that are manufactured with a compound designed for exceptional straight-line stability, traction, and predictability across a wide range of terrain.

ODI lock-on grips

The TC 85 features black ODI grips with the left grip locked in place by a small clamp. The throttle grip is vulcanised onto the throttle tube for a secure fitment.

Graphics

Drawing inspiration from the Swedish heritage of Husqvarna Motorcycles, eye-catching white and yellow graphics are applied with in-mold technology for durability and a high-quality finish.

Handlebars & grips

The tapered, black anodised Neken handlebars feature a new, modern bend for 2025 and are made from high-quality aluminium alloy for exceptional vibration dampening and stability. Black, ODI grips are then securely installed. The left grip is locked in place using a small clamp while the throttle grip is vulcanised onto the throttle tube for a secure fitment. To protect the rider in the event of a heavy landing, the handlebar mounts are covered with a bar pad to cushion any impact.

Technology

Airbox

A new airbox concept features precisely positioned inlet ducts that ensure maximum airflow and filter protection. The Twin Air filter behind the left side panel remains easily accessible without tools for a fast and simple replacement of the air filter.

Cooling

The TC 85 features brand-new, state-of-the-art Pankl radiators for 2025 that are scaled down versions of those found on the full-size motocross machines made by Husqvarna Motorcycles. In addition to the coolant flowing through the cylinder, it is also channelled through the crankcases to maintain an optimal running temperature at all times.

Swingarm

An improved casting process reduces the weight of the new swingarm by 300 g when compared to the old generation. The one-piece design is manufactured using a gravity die-cast process for exceptional strength and optimised flex. Clear chain adjustment markings on the swingarm ensures easy maintenance while the new, more durable chain guide and slider are designed to prevent dirt build-up.

Exhaust

A new exhaust system is manufactured using a proven process to improve power and build quality. The header pipe now has the welded seams on the inside removed while its new geometry boosts performance in the low to mid RPM range without sacrificing peak, top end power. The silencer is updated with a stylish, black anodised finish.
