Pirelli heads to Silverstone with new rear tires for Moto2

· SC0 becomes the benchmark. This weekend, the MotoGP World Championship begins the second half of the season with the twelfth of 22 rounds. For the occasion, Pirelli will supply standard range tyres for both classes. In Moto2™, the new 2026 rear soft SC0 will be available, marking its return at Silverstone after a successful debut last year as the E0125 development specification. Featuring a different structure compared with the previous standard SC0, it was immediately appreciated by the riders, who unanimously adopted it from the very first free practice sessions, setting a new all-time lap record. Promoted to a standard range tyre from this season onwards, the SC0 will be paired at the rear with the new medium SC1, previously known as the D0286 development specification, while at the front riders will have the soft SC1 (used by all riders during the 2025 race) and the medium SC2.

· A highly technical and extremely fast circuit. At 5.9 km, Silverstone is the longest track on the World Championship calendar and one of the most technically demanding, thanks to a layout combining long straights, sequences of very high-speed corners and constant changes of direction, together with low-abrasion asphalt featuring limited roughness. It is also a particularly wide track that allows riders to explore different racing lines.

· Consistency in Moto3™. Moto3™ riders will have the soft SC1 and medium SC2 available for both front and rear. Last year, José Antonio Rueda (KTM) claimed victory with a remarkable comeback from last place using medium SC2 tyres at both ends, the combination chosen by the majority of the field, although some riders opted for the soft SC1 both front and rear.

At Silverstone, the SC0 measures Moto2™’s progress

“For this weekend’s round at Silverstone, one of the most iconic and technically demanding circuits on the World Championship calendar, Pirelli will once again provide standard range tyres for both classes, featuring the rear soft SC0 compound that made its Moto2™ debut at this very circuit last year as the E0125 development option. The E0125, which complemented the then standard soft tyre, was immediately appreciated by the intermediate class riders, who, on a highly demanding circuit characterised by numerous high-speed corners and changes of direction where stability is essential, focused exclusively on this new solution from Friday onwards.
Introduced again at subsequent events, the former E0125 quickly became the Moto2™ riders’ benchmark, offering greater stability, outright one-lap performance and consistent performance across a wide variety of weather and track conditions. As a result, it was promoted to the new standard soft tyre for this season.
More than a year after its debut, and thanks to the significant development work carried out by the teams during this period, the SC0 has already contributed to numerous lap records this season. Weather conditions permitting, it will therefore be interesting to see whether Silverstone can deliver further progress compared with last year’s benchmark”.
