THREE RS-GP26 MACHINES STRAIGHT THROUGH TO Q2: BEZZECCHI SECOND, MARTÍN ELEVENTH. SUPERFILE TRACKHOUSE MOTOGP TEAM’S OGURA FIRST AND FERNÁNDEZ TENTH
Aprilia Racing concluded the first day of practice on the Brno Circuit in the Czech Republic with positive results. Marco Bezzecchi finished FP1 in sixteenth place, only to improve significantly in the practice session where he led for most of the duration and was the first rider to break the track record. The Italian rider finished the practice session second, which puts him straight through to Q2.

Jorge Martín, fourteenth in FP1 and eleventh in the practice session, just missed going through to Q2 by a mere eleven thousandths of a second.

Also worth a mention are the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team riders and their performance, with Ai Ogura first and Raúl Fernández tenth. With this result, Aprilia takes three RS-GP26 machines straight through to Q2.

The day went rather well. This morning, I was in a bit of difficulty but in the afternoon, we took a step forward, so I’m quite pleased. The negative note of the day is that I expected to struggle less physically. Unfortunately, after three or four laps this morning, my leg began to hurt a bit and my foot was bothering me, and on this track where there are a lot of right-handers, I’m feeling it.
Physically, I felt good – better than I had expected. However, I was unable to find the right feeling with the front. I didn’t have the confidence I needed, but when we put the time-attack tyre on I saw improvements, although I still wasn’t able to do a lap good enough to put me straight through to Q2.
This was a positive Friday on an upward trend. In FP1 we had to work on the bike set-ups based on the track conditions and the tyres being utilised, but in the afternoon, we were already demonstrating that all four bikes have a good pace. Marco showed that he has a good feeling with the bike, as confirmed by his second place and his good pace in the practice session. We certainly need to keep working in view of the sprint race and the long race, particularly with Jorge to make him feel as comfortable as possible.
