Pole-sitter Manuel Gonzalez (Kalex) claimed his second win of the season by taking victory in today’s Moto2™ race at the Mugello circuit during the Italian Grand Prix, and now leads the Championship with 129.5 points. Behind the Spaniard were Celestino Vietti (Boscoscuro), who started from sixteenth on the grid, and Daniel Holgado (Kalex), in third. As for the tyres, all riders used the soft SC1 option on the front, paired in the vast majority of cases with the updated 2026 version of the range’s supersoft SCX rear. · Fastest races ever. This year’s Moto2™ race, completed in 35’12.315, was more than 22 seconds quicker than last year’s, run over the same 19-lap distance and in almost identical air and track temperatures, with an improvement in average race lap time of nearly 1.2 seconds. In addition, on the second lap, Iván Ortolá (Kalex) set the new race lap record with a 1’49.497, improving by almost 1 second on the 1’50.476 set in 2024 by Aron Canet. The Moto3™ race, run over 17 laps in 33’07.801, was almost 10 seconds faster than last year’s race, which was completed in 33’17.697 in similar air and track temperatures, for an average lap-time improvement of just under 0.6 seconds.
