“The sections on both days provided plenty of challenge, and despite there being so much rock, the variety made the trials incredibly fun. Saturday started with a bit of a struggle, as the first two sections had my number—accounting for 26% of my total points—but my recent practice paid off as I rode much calmer than in previous rounds and knocked 10 points off my first loop. I felt even better on Sunday as I grew more comfortable with the terrain, and while I was on track for an excellent third loop, I fell into a hole for a five, only to realize in the next section that the crash had knocked my fuel line loose. Mentally, I was proud to recover from that setback, focusing on each section to minimize the damage and turning in cleans or ones where I had previously carded threes, ultimately finishing P1 both days to wrap up the West Coast Title! The new gear looks great, flows more air than traditional trials gear, and easily accommodates my knee guards. I just wish we had more than three loops because I was really gelling with the bike and the terrain and wanted to keep riding! I can’t thank Beta USA and the Trials Team enough—Chris Cullins made my pit stops seamless, Cole Cullins ensured I had everything I needed to be at my best, and I am excited to keep practicing for the final rounds. |
