Iker Lecuona will remember the Saturday of the Prosecco DOC UK Round, the eighth round of the 2026 WorldSBK season, for a long time.
The Spanish rider of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team claimed his first career victory in WorldSBK after an endless battle with teammate Nicolò Bulega.
Lecuona made a strong start, overtaking Bulega at the first corner and resisting his attacks. The final three laps were spectacular, with overtakes and counter-overtakes that ultimately rewarded the number 7.
Iker Lecuona (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #7)
“I’m very happy and I want to thank my team for putting me in a position to be so competitive. It was a great race, with many battles with Nicolò. I want to enjoy this moment thinking of my family and dedicate this victory to my daughter Luna.”
Nicolò Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati #11)
“Congratulations to Iker on his first WorldSBK victory. I tried from the first lap to the last, but I was missing something. However, this doesn’t change anything, because our goal is always to improve, session after session, race after race, and that is what we will have to do tomorrow.”
