2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650A ABS Adventure Review

2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650A ABS Adventure

In 2002, Suzuki introduced the V-Strom 1000 in a new motorcycle category, the Sport Enduro Tourer. Its running performance and packaging earned worldwide acclaim. In 2003, Suzuki released the V-Strom 650 targeting a wider range of users. This versatile model covers not only daily use such as commuting, but also weekend touring as well. With the addition of an ABS-equipped model in 2006, the V-Strom 650 has always been the best-selling model in its class. To further improve its running performance and riding comfort, Suzuki decided to develop a new model.

For 2012, we’re giving you another choice in adventure touring. Introducing the V-Strom 650 ABS Adventure. It has striking accessories that include sleek aluminum side cases large enough to fit a full-coverage helmet, a rugged accessory engine bar and an adjustable windscreen. It also has the same improved performance as the original V-Strom 650 ABS. Its new 645cc V-Twin engine has improved low-to-mid rpm performance, matched by enhanced fuel economy and environmental performance.

2012 will mark the 10th anniversary of the V-Strom series since its introduction. Suzuki hopes the new V-Strom 650 ABS Adventure will be enjoyed by many more riders.

The V-Strom 650 ABS Adventure allows you to spend more time exploring whilst still offering the benefits of the standard model. The Adventure pack adds to the V-Strom 650 ABS with a Vario touring screen, knuckle cover set, undercowling set, accessory bar, tank protector, centre stand, chain guard and top case.

The spirit of adventure beckons you to new destinations. To new sights, sounds and sensations. The all new V-Strom 650 ABS is built to get you there with more enjoyment, more excitement and in greater comfort. Redesigned and upgraded throughout, the V-Strom 650 ABS offers mile-munching comfort, effortless but precise handling, styling which is tough and practical and an Antilock Brake System as standard.

The new V-Strom 650 ABS styling, created with a “tough x smart” theme, reflects its upgraded adventure tourer performance. The purposeful, poised form with compact bodywork combines painted sections and black resin components for a sporty yet functional profile. Rider comfort is enhanced with a new windscreen, heat- and wind-diverting designs and slim bodywork.

The V-Strom 650 ABS’s liquid-cooled, DOHC, 90-degree V-Twin engine is ready for a full-range riding with a broad torque delivery, the signature V-Twin low-to-mid rpm power, and plenty of sporty high rpm range power.

A 6-kilogram weight reduction works with the new engine for smooth riding in any situation, while its efficient design delivers class-leading riding range. The power unit also gives users a more refined riding experience, thanks to its improved clutch and gearshifting feel and reduced mechanical noise.

The V-Strom 650 ABS’s user-friendly chassis is built around a lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminum-alloy frame and swingarm for a comfortable package with great performance. It’s perfect for adventure touring rides with an upright riding position, long-stroke front and rear suspension, lightweight aluminum-alloy wheels and standard equipment Antilock Brake System (ABS).

The Adventure pack consists of a Vario touring screen, knuckle cover set, undercowling set, accessory bar, tank protector, centre stand, chain guard and a 42 litre top case and the fitting is included in the price too.
