RAW. NATURAL AND INTUITIVE.

2019 Husqvarna VITPILEN 701:

The VITPILEN range is a definitive and bold statement, which exhibits Husqvarna Motorcycles´ never-ending quest to pioneer new territory. Simply put, the VITPILEN aims at stripping away all unnecessary gimmicks and presents a motorcycle in its purest form. Their uniqueness is however not limited to aesthetics, as the designers set out to create a motorcycle that captures the thrill of the ride which is instantly felt in the raw, natural and intuitive riding experience.

The Husqvarna VITPILEN (Swedish for “White Arrow”), much like the iconic Silverpilen in 1955, opened up a new segment for Husqvarna Motorcycles along with the SVARTPILEN (Swedish for “Black Arrow”), which shares the same design approach, but with distinctive colour differences and slightly more rugged styling. The overall design concept has been interpreted in the form of VITPILEN 401, VITPILEN 701 and SVARTPILEN 401 product models. The approach is a tribute to the clean and cool Swedish simplicity of the classic Silverpilen concept.

THE ‘REAL STREET’ PARADIGM:

The VITPILEN line-up represents the next pioneering step in Husqvarna Motorcycles’ progressive vision of ‘real street motorcycling’. Sophisticated single-cylinder 4-stroke motors housed within a minimalistic layout – created to provide a raw and authentic riding experience. These real street bikes capture the timeless thrill of the ride, with a level of Swedish simplicity that seems to have been lost amongst the flash, hype and hyperbole of modern motorcycle design. The VITPILEN family was created to reflect the progressive attitude and styling of a more modern and free-thinking breed of urban riders.

SIMPLE. PROGRESSIVE:

This bike is an apparent paradox. It is incredibly simple in its design, reduced of any unnecessary excess. However, it is also progressive, offering something new to the world of motorcycling. It uses the latest technology, designed in a forward-thinking way, but still embrace the purity and simplicity of how motorcycles used to be.

THE NEW GATEWAY TO MOTORCYCLE CULTURE:

The approach was not to make a bike for a certain type of person but rather to make one for any kind of person. Thus, opening up an entirely new gateway into the world of motorcycle culture. A culture that is accepting, non-specific and purely just for the love of being on two wheels, seated on a tiny seat and behind a set of handlebars.

Where you decide to go, how you decide to ride, and who you are is irrelevant, it’s equal. You can truly be whoever you want to be, but with the freedom to explore your city in an entirely new way. Expertly crafted to deliver minimalist styling with exceptional performance, the VITPILEN range is reduced to the bare essence of what a motorcycle should be. The Husqvarna VITPILEN are the gateway to a new motorcycle culture.

A sophisticated single-cylinder 4‑stroke motor housed within a minimalistic yet high-tech layout – created to provide a raw, exhilarating and authentic riding experience. Functionality, simplicity and practicality were central to the basic idea and formed the main inspiration behind this bike. Its uniqueness is not limited to the aesthetics though, and will be instantly noticeable from the raw, natural and intuitive experience of riding it. The VITPILEN 701 bike’s designers believed strongly that something fresh was long overdue in the motorcycling world, so they set out to create a bike that better captures the timeless thrill of the ride. The VITPILEN 701 was created to reflect the progressive attitude and styling of a more modern and free-thinking breed of rider.

2019 Husqvarna VITPILEN 701 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

ENGINE SECTION

  • 75 hp single cylinder engine

The VITPILEN 701 is powered by a modern 692.7 cc liquid cooled, single cylinder engine that features the latest design and electronics technology. With a peak horsepower of 56 kW (75 hp) and 72 Nm of torque, there is no doubting about this bike’s performance potential. The extremely lightweight engine weighs only 43.4 kg without oil but including all components such as electric start, throttle body, clutch and coolant lines. With the specific A2 engine map that limits power to 33 kW, the VITPILEN 701 can be ridden by A2 licence holders.

  • Ride-by-wire throttle

The electronic fuel injection is operated by a ride-by-wire system and delivers immediate, sharp and refined power. The 50 mm Keihin fuel injection throttle body features a throttle valve that is electronically controlled by the Engine Management System (EMS). Sensors continuously send feedback to the EMS, which adjusts the throttle valve accordingly, resulting in perfect power delivery and throttle response and superior rideability. The addition of traction control reduces drive to the rear wheel when a loss of traction occurs and delivers the ideal amount of horsepower for the available grip.

  • State-of-the art engine technology

Smooth power delivery is guaranteed by the state-of-the-art four-valve cylinder head with its twin spark ignition. With the single overhead camshaft technology allowing for more exact valve timing at higher engine speeds, the engine also features a second counter balancer shaft for increased comfort and less vibrations. With reliability a key factor, the use of innovative solutions such as the active evacuation and forced lubrication of the crankcase ensure long 10,000 km service intervals. All the latest engine advances provide the maximum efficiency resulting in an extremely low fuel consumption.

  • Slipper clutch

The APTC (Adler Power Torque Control) slipper clutch allows for greater speeds when entering and exiting corners. The system maximises rear wheel grip under hard acceleration and prevents rear wheel instability or hopping when braking hard into a turn, resulting in more control and perfect downshifting.

  • Easy shift gearbox

A 6-speed gearbox ensures smooth and precise shifting giving riders perfect control and confidence in every condition. For added convenience in urban environments, the gearbox is linked to an easy shift sensor which allows the rider to make seamless up and down shifts without the use of the clutch. The sensor works by relaying the moment the rider actuates the gear lever to the ECU which in turn matches engine parameters to allow a simple gear change at any RPM or engine load.

  • Exhaust system

Concealed within the framework, the exhaust system features a pre-silencer and final silencer layout. The exhaust system ensures the VITPILEN 701 meets strict EURO IV emission regulations and is finished off in a matt black coating with gloss Husqvarna logo.

CHASSIS SECTION

  • Bodywork/Split

Central to the progressive design, the VITPILEN 701 uses the bare essentials for a simple, stripped away and authentic style. The bodywork ensures the perfect fit between rider and motorcycle and is highlighted with quality painted finishes.

  • Superior quality WP Suspension

Produced by WP Suspension, the USD 43 mm front forks deliver advanced performance and comfort in varying urban environments. Using a split damping function, compression and rebound can be adjusted effortlessly using the easy access clickers located on the top of the fork tube allowing the rider to personalise the ride characteristics for preference or varying conditions.

  • Brakes and cutting edge switchable ABS

The VITPILEN 701 delivers superior braking performance with a standard Brembo braking system. This features a four-piston calliper, Ø 320 mm floating disc at the front, and a single piston calliper, Ø 240 mm floating disc at the rear. Together with a state-of-the-art BOSCH ABS 9M+ system, they ensure the highest level of braking confidence. This function can also be fully disengaged for more advanced riders.

  • Fuel Tank

A focal point of the VITPILEN 701, the 12-litre fuel tank is housed within unique cover design distinguishing the tone of the VITPILEN style. Added to the design is a premium tank filler cap including engraved Husqvarna insignia.

  • Swingarm and numberplate holder

The swingarm is made from lightweight aluminium using a gravity die-cast production process. The design offers impressive torsional rigidity and strength for advanced tractability and stability. The swingarm mounted license plate and turn signals, give the rear end a clean, uninterrupted look.

  • Wheels and tyres

The lightweight 17” cast alloy wheels ensure high levels of strength and durability with minimal unsprung weight. The Husqvarna logo is embedded into the wheel for a discreetly highlighting the attention to details on the VITPILEN 701.
