2023 Honda Montesa Cota 4RT260R: IT’S ALL ABOUT CONTROL.

Introducing the 2023 Honda Montesa Cota 4RT260R…

Trials riding is all about the details, and paying attention to the small things. That’s true of reading the terrain and planning your next move, and it’s especially true of your bike itself. That’s where our Montesa Cota 4RT 260R gets it all right, combining a highly refined Honda engine with Montesa’s years of expertise. And we never stop improving either. For example, our 2023 4RT 260R features a special engine-control map and crankcase decompressor that make it possible to reduce engine braking to a minimum, which helps maintain traction and throttle-control precision and feel. There’s also an included optional lighting package. This is a bike that’s fun to ride recreationally, but that also has what it takes to win.

Honda Confirms Returning miniMOTO, Scooter and Trials Models

April 18, 2023 — ALPHARETTA, Georgia

  • Trail125 receives engine updates for 2023 model year
Also returning: Ruckus, Metropolitan and Montesa Cota
  • In an announcement today, American Honda confirmed the return of a number of two-wheel products for model-years 2023 and 2024. A diverse range of categories is represented, highlighting Honda’s commitment to producing high-quality machines for casual riders, nostalgia-driven customers and niche-focused enthusiasts.

Honda’s retro-inspired Trail125 receives updates to its engine package and a new color for 2023. The efficiency-focused advancements align the popular model with its miniMOTO relatives, especially the Super Cub. Returning for the 2024 model year, the iconic Ruckus and classic Metropolitan scooters continue to provide approachable and practical urban transportation. On the trials front, the two Montesa Cota 4RT models are back for 2023, following another incredible season of FIM World Trials competition in which Repsol Honda’s Toni Bou captured his record 32nd world title (16 indoor, 16 outdoor).

“Each of these models has a rich history and a loyal following, so we’re pleased to continue offering them for our customers,” said Brandon Wilson, American Honda Manager of Sports & Experiential. “From the affordable and user-friendly Trail125, Ruckus and Metropolitan to the highly specialized Montesa Cota 4RT models, Honda takes great pride in serving all types of two-wheel enthusiasts, regardless of how they choose to pursue their particular adventure.”

2023 Honda Montesa Cota 4RT260R Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

PERFORMANCE
PGM-FI ENGINE
The Honda Montesa Cota 4RT 260R features fuel-injected power that’s easy to modulate, for the surgical power delivery so critical to trials riding. The 259cc four-stroke engine is specifically tuned for low-rpm response and extraordinarily flexible, with plenty of power and torque all the way through the rev range. A high-pressure fuel pump helps give the engine a strong power curve.

KICKSTART LEVER
The Cota 4RT 260R features a long kickstart lever, helping ensure easy one-kick starts no matter where you are on the course.

ENGINEERING
CHASSIS
The Montesa Cota 4RT 260R uses an aluminum chassis with a gorgeous finish, showcasing classic lines and the impeccable manufacturing quality. The rear-brake pedal is short to avoid impacts and allow the rider more freedom of movement.

HANDLING
PREMIUM SUSPENSION
The Montesa Cota 4RT 260R offers an adjustable 39mm Showa® fork and Showa shock acting in conjunction with the Pro-Link® rear suspension.

BRAKES AND WHEELS
The Montesa Cota 4RT 260R is equipped with a 4-piston monoblock front-brake caliper and uses 32-spoke wheels. The rear wheel features an innovative system incorporating central-adjustment spokes for a significant weight reduction, and which also allows the Cota to fit a tubeless rear tire.

TECHNOLOGY
DUAL-MAP ECU
Does your course feature sections with poor traction, followed by sections with better grip? No problem—the 4RT 260R features a handlebar-mounted mode switch that lets you choose between two maps/modes to change engine power delivery.

Top-flight protection
The bash plate is shaped to give maximum protection to engine underside and front lower frame rails. It’s also the same design as used by the Montesa World Championship machine and constructed from identical lightweight aluminum, maintaining thickness with improved strength.

Higher performance
The Montesa 260R is now equipped with the same muffler as the Cota 4RT 301RR. This new exhaust gives more power at mid and high range.

Front and rear SHOWA suspension
Ground clearance is set at 310mm and the high-quality 39mm diameter SHOWA front fork features 158mm stroke. Also, the rear SHOWA shock operates through Pro-Link. Both front and rear suspension are adjustable for spring preload and compression damping.

New aluminium side stand
The lightweight triangular-section forged aluminium side stand from the sister model Cota 301RR is inherited. It mounts close to the engine and tucks neatly underneath the swingarm well out of harms way.

Four-stroke engine
The Cota 4RT’s lightweight, fuel-injected, four-valve 258.9cc four-stroke engine delivers the smooth control – and power.

MONTESA COTA 4RT 260R
The Montesa Cota 4RT began a revolution back in 2006 with the all-conquering power and torque delivery of its four-stroke engine. Always at the pinnacle of competition, and constantly evolving, the 4RT is the ultimate trials machine. This new 2023 model features a stand-out fuel-tank painted in Montesa’s heritage Red color.

It’s all about quality
The Cota 4RT is carefully manufactured at Montesa Honda’s Factory in Barcelona, northern Spain. Each machine is meticulously assembled with every part checked and rechecked for the highest quality required from a Montesa, and the function of a championship-winning tool.

Ready to go to the top?
If you want to take your competitive riding to the next level the Cota 4RT is primed and ready. Its twin-spar aluminum frame, suspension and strong engine are designed to find grip and drive in the face of what seems impossible. And a host of detail improvements – many inspired directly by the World Championship machine – plus sharp new decals keep the Cota 4RT firmly where it belongs. At the very top. Pictures show motorcycle version with Optional Race Kit and LED headlight. Both items are intended for competition use only. Visit your Montesa dealer for more information.

The art of true balance
A breath-taking climb strewn with wet, vertical rock faces. Or a gnarled descent over moss-covered tree roots. Competitive trials offer perhaps the most severe test of a motorcycle and rider – and it’s what we make the Cota 4RT 260R for.
