At the heart of the BURGMAN 400’s polished performance is an updated version of its powerful 400cm 3 four-stroke, DOHC, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. Changes including the air cleaner box help produce greater low-to-midrange torque for instant response and more powerful acceleration when riding in stop-and-go traffic while also providing more robust performance when riding tandem. Suzuki’s Automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) continues to ensure optimal idling.

POWERFUL BRAKING SYSTEM
The BURGMAN 400 is equipped with a powerful braking system worthy of a sporty scooter. The front wheel carries a pair of 260mm disc brakes, while stopping power in the rear is provided by a 210mm disc brake. An Antilock Brake System (ABS)* monitors wheel speed and matches stopping power to available traction to provide greater confidence and control. The system adopts a compact and lightweight ABS control unit that reduces weight by approximately 750g over the previous model.

ENGINE FEATURES

The polished, 400cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, single cylinder, fuel-injected engine delivers balanced performance with strong low- to mid-range torque that provides powerful acceleration up to its peak horsepower in the upper RPM.

The engine’s DOHC four-valve configuration allows ideal positioning of the intake and exhaust valves for superior mechanical advantages and efficient combustion. The benefits can be felt in smooth, instantly available acceleration.

The highly efficient engine employs Suzuki’s Dual Spark technology where a pair of long-life iridium spark plugs fire at precise intervals to provide optimized combustion efficiency.

Carefully selected camshaft timing reduces valve overlap, further improving combustion efficiency, to help the Burgman 400 comply with worldwide emission standards.

The 10-hole fuel injector delivers a finer spray of fuel that better combines with intake air, improving fuel consumption and overall performance.

The Suzuki EFI system controls the Pulsed Secondary Air Injection (PAIR) system and receives O2 feedback from catalyzer-equipped exhaust to boost fuel efficiency and help the Burgman easily achieve emissions compliance.

The exhaust’s catalyzer has an internal honeycomb design that uses a unique metal catalyst carrier to broaden its ability to purify expelled exhaust gas.
