ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
Inheriting the favoured traction control system from the V-Strom 1000, the V-Strom 650XT Adventure also is equipped with this advanced technology. This system continuously monitors the front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position, crank position, and gear position with various sensors, and controls the engine output by managing the ignition timing and air delivery. The traction control system can be switched to either of two modes, or off. The modes differ in terms of sensitivity. Mode one allows modest rear wheel spin for more advanced, exhilarating riding, while mode two activates traction control at the slightest loss of rear-wheel grip to give you greater confidence on slippery surfaces or in the rain. The choice of modes can be quickly and easily made by selecting the traction control mode from the left switch cluster and confirming it with a glance at the instruments. In difficult riding situations such as cold or ragged road surfaces, fully loaded with luggage, or with a pillion rider, this advanced system already established on the V-Strom 1000 shall back up the ride.

Note: Traction control system is not a substitute for rider’s throttle control under the various conditions, and traction control cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when entering turns, or while braking, and it does not control front-wheel traction.

RICH INFORMATION TO SUPPORT MULTIPLE TASKS
By sharing the easy to see and easy-to-operate/understand instrument cluster, along with the cowling image with its bigger brother, the V-STROM 650XT Adventure has rich information with a quality design. The instrument cluster incorporates a large analogue tachometer and digital readouts for the gear position and speedometer. The digital section below displays the odometer, twin-trip meter, clock, fuel level, coolant temperature, ambient temperature, battery voltage, range on remaining fuel, average and instantaneous fuel consumptions, and traction-control modes. The remaining fuel range continues to display after the fuel gauge shows empty, offering the rider with accurate and comforting information. Plus, instantly recognizable LEDs provide freeze*, high-beam, neutral, malfunction indicator lamp (MIL), ABS, traction-control mode, and water-temperature indicators. All of this information is accessible from the left handlebar switch, where it is also possible to reset the trip meter.

*The freeze indicator starts blinking when the ambient temperature falls below 3°C. It continues to blink for 30 seconds then remains lit until the ambient temperature rises above 5°C.

ABS-EQUIPPED BRAKE SYSTEM
Equipped with 310mm diameter twin discs with twin two-piston callipers on the front and a 260mm diameter single disk with a single-piston calliper on the rear, the V-STROM 650XT Adventure provides controllable and dependable stopping performance. Also, the compact and light-weight ABS, to avoid wheel lock caused by excess hard braking, has been upgraded to the next generation with advanced settings for a further natural feel and secure activation.

Note: ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please drive carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

LOW RPM ASSIST
By adopting the Low RPM assist system, the concern of an unexpected engine stall has been relieved. This system will automatically raise the idle speed when engaging the clutch or when riding at low rpms, assisting frequent clutch work in congested town rides and preventing sudden and unexpected engine stall when running in the low rpm range.

SUZUKI EASY START SYSTEM
Conventional starter switches needed to be pressed by the rider until the engine starts, but the V-STROM 650XT Adventure has adopted the Suzuki Easy Start System enabling the engine to start with one push of the button. A computerized ECM checks the status and disengages the starter motor immediately after start, making the engine start easier for the rider.

SOPHISTICATED V-TWIN PERFORMANCE
The 645cm 3 DOHC V-twin is a masterpiece of Suzuki engineering which has an evolving history. SUZUKI DUAL THROTTLE VALVE (SDTV) FUEL-INJECTION SYSTEM
Featuring the performance-proven Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) injection system, each cylinder has two butterfly valves for enhanced power output and efficiency. One butterfly valve is directly linked to the riders throttle control while the other butterfly valve is controlled by the ECM and operates according to information from the throttle position sensor, engine speed sensor and gear position sensor for optimum intake flow, realizing an efficient and smooth power delivery with ample torque at low revs. Idle speed control is also a feature, supporting a steady idle speed and fewer emission. The injectors have been upgraded to a 10-hole type with a long nozzle for further efficiency.

RESIN COATED PISTONS
One of the upgraded features in the 645cm3 unit are the resin-coated pistons which is a coating technology to decrease friction in the cylinder, resulting in improved fuel economy and corresponding to latest emission control. Special L-shaped piston rings are also installed for enhanced sealing performance and blow-by gas reduction, all resulting in meeting up-to-date regulations while improving the output and the ease of use.

CAMSHAFTS FOR A DISTINCTIVE POWER FEEL
For the unique character of the V-STROM 650XT Adventure, the engine needs to be strong not only at the top end but at the frequently used low to mid-range. To meet these demands, the engine has an original intake camshaft with equally lengthened intake ports, while for the exhaust camshaft, has adopted the item from the SV650 road model which are higher lifting compared to the previous V-Strom 650. LIGHTER AND LOWER EXHAUST SYSTEM

WHEELS AND TIRES
Ten spoked cast aluminum wheels/colour coordinated spoke style wheels are an eye-catching feature for the V-Strom 650. The rear suspension is equipped with rebound adjustment and a remote preload adjuster which can be operated by hand allowing the rider to quickly setup the suspension to match the riding style or in a case of two-up riding or with a full load of luggage without any tools needed.

ENGINE FEATURES

Using SV650 engineering, the V-Strom’s DOHC, liquid-cooled engine has been tuned to deliver clean, strong power at any rpm.

Low-friction resin-coated pistons and SCEM-coated cylinders help deliver high mileage for class-leading touring range.

Unique engine cover hardware and select fasteners are designed to permit the use of Torx or conventional hex-style tools.

The sleek 2-into-1 exhaust system routes below the chassis to reduce weight, centralize mass, and provide space for a narrow tail section (and optional luggage).

The exhaust system has twin catalyzers and employs O2 feedback to the EFI system to produce optimum combustion efficiency and reduce emissions to an incredibly low level.

The fuel-injection system employs Suzuki’s innovative SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) on 39mm throttle bodies. The secondary throttle valves are controlled by a servo motor for smooth power delivery.

Ten-hole, long-nose-type fuel injectors on each throttle body improve fuel atomization for better combustion efficiency while reducing fuel consumption.

Suzuki’s patented Throttle-body Integrated Idle Speed Control (TI-ISC) stabilizes the engine idle speed and helps lower emissions. The system is compact and lightweight.

The TI-ISC on the V-Strom 650XT Adventure has Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist feature that seamlessly adjusts engine speed during takeoff and low-speed riding to smooth the power delivery. It also helps reduce the possibility of the rider stalling the motorcycle.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) provides state-of-the-art engine management and has enhanced settings to suit the updated intake and exhaust systems, resulting in better fuel economy and linear throttle response.

The engine has dual spark technology heads with two high-energy, slim electrode spark plugs per cylinder, which aid in combustion efficiency and power production.

The V-Strom 650XT Adventure is equipped with Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System*, which lets the rider control the throttle with more confidence in various riding conditions. It continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle opening, engine speed, and the selected transmission gear to adjust engine output if wheel spin is detected.

There are three traction control modes (1, 2, and OFF), and the difference between the modes is their sensitivity to road conditions. Mode 1 is lowest sensitivity level, most suitable for skilled riders or in conditions that have good road surface grip (riding on good, smooth roads). Mode 2 is highest sensitivity level, suitable for road conditions where the grip may be limited (wet or cold surfaces). OFF disengages all traction control features.

This V-Strom also features the Suzuki Easy Start System, which lets the rider start the motorcycle with a momentary press of the start button without pulling in the clutch lever when the transmission is in neutral.

The compact radiator is flanked by wind-directing plates that enhance cooling efficiency and direct heat out of the side vents away from the rider’s legs.

The six-speed transmission suits sporty rides with tight first through fifth gear ratios and a tall top gear (sixth gear) for highway cruising.

Low-maintenance, long-life sealed O-ring drive chain is standard.

CHASSIS FEATURES

The beak-style fairing, with vertically stacked headlights and new mounting structure, helps the V-Strom 650XT Adventure cut through the wind, protecting the rider in style.

The three-way height-adjustable windscreen was wind-tunnel tested to reduce wind sounds, buffeting, and rider fatigue.

The fuel tank has a generous 5.3-gallon capacity but is shaped to be thin at the rear to flow into the slimmer seat, which aids the rider in touching the ground at stops.

The internal construction and cap of the fuel tank are updated so the gasoline capacity is the same for both the 49-state and California versions.

The spacious two-up seat combines smooth and slip-resistant surfaces, plus an embossed V-Strom logo.

Lightweight, rigid twin-spar aluminum frame and swingarm contribute to smooth handling performance and excellent stability.

Spring-preload-adjustable 43mm front forks and link-type rear suspension are combined with a rebound damping adjustment and hand-operated spring preload adjuster.

Adventure-spec Bridgestone Battlax 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tubeless radial tires are mounted to the spoke-style wheels for all-around good performance.

Front dual 310mm disc brakes and a rear 260mm disc brake deliver controlled stopping power.

Compact Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)** monitors wheel speed to match braking to available traction.

The lightweight resin luggage rack incorporates easy-to-grasp grab bars and aligns with the passenger section of the seat, offering a larger surface for carrying cargo or luggage.

The V-Strom 650XT Adventure is ready to carry the gear you need as it is equipped with Suzuki’s ADV-style, 37-liter aluminum panniers that attach to powder-coated, stainless steel carriers. Fashioned out of 1.5mm thick aluminum plate with super-strong, no-pierce rivet technology, these panniers offer a number of features, including hinged lids that stay in place when open, internal and external tie-down points, plus keyed stainless steel latches and quick-release hardware. Built to be waterproof with rubber-sealing lids, these panniers have powder-coated interiors that avoid aluminum stains on cargo.

Other Adventure features include a handlebar cross-brace that’s an excellent foundation to mount accessories like a GPS, plus mirror extensions so you see less of you and more of what’s behind you.

The V-Strom 650XT Adventure also comes with a rugged accessory bar, hand guards, and a protective lower engine cowl.

ELECTRICAL FEATURES

The multifunction instrument panel features brightness-adjustable LED backlighting for its large diameter analog tachometer, digital speedometer, and LCD data display.

LCD readouts include odometer, dual trip meter, traction control modes, gear position, coolant and ambient temperature, fuel consumption, fuel gauge, and clock. Switching between readings can be done with the left handlebar switch.

LED indicators include an ABS alert and a freeze warning icon, which together with the air temperature display warn of possible icy road conditions.

Strong three-phase charging system supplies the 10Ah maintenance-free battery for easy starting and additional accessory power. A dedicated accessory fuse is located under the seat.

The stacked, 65/55-watt halogen headlamps illuminate the road when your ride stretches into night.
