FEATURES

R1-inspired 5-inch TFT instruments

The R1-inspired 5-inch colour TFT instruments provide you with clear information and underline the R125’s premium status and best-in-class specification. Select your ‘Street’ or ‘Track’ screen theme depending on the riding situation – and match the programmable shift light and rpm meter range easily in 200 rpm increments to your riding style and individual preferences.

Smartphone connectivity

It’s easy to stay connected when you’re riding the R125 by linking your smartphone to its TFT instruments using Bluetooth®. Simply download the free Yamaha MyRide app to your smartphone and you’ll be able to see notifications of incoming calls and text messages at the top of the new 5-inch TFT screen – and you can also see smartphone battery status.

R1-type handlebar crown and switches

Everything about the R125 is designed to give you the ultimate Supersport riding experience. Inspired by Yamaha’s MotoGP® bike, the racy cockpit features a high-quality R1-type handlebar crown – and the clip-on handlebars are equipped with a R1-replica right switch cluster.

R7-inspired LED headlights and position lights

The powerful and compact central LED headlight located in the centre of the M1 MotoGP® style nose underlines the R125’s big bike attitude. Together with the R7-style LED position lights this aggressive face oozes pure R-Series DNA.

Dynamic next generation Yamaha Racing design

Inspired by Yamaha’s winning race machines, the R125’s next generation aerodynamic bodywork gives this lightweight Supersport a commanding big bike look and feel. Its aggressive R-Series face features an M-shaped nose inspired by the M1 MotoGP® bike to underline its racing heritage – and the next generation Icon Blue and Tech Black colours with dynamic graphics highlight the bike’s premium finish.

Traction control system

The R125’s traction control system gives you a high degree of controllability during hard acceleration by reducing driving force to the rear wheel, if any tendency to slip is detected. The premium and high specification of the bike also includes an Assist & Slipper clutch for controlled deceleration. And the R125 is also pre-wired for the fitment of an optional quick shift system for seamless upshifts.

Torque rich 125cc EURO5 4-stroke engine with VVA

Producing 11 kW (15 HP) at 9,000 rpm, the R125’s torque rich 125cc 4-stroke engine benefits from large intake and exhaust valves and a compact combustion chamber for impressive acceleration. Its performance-boosting Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system optimises the valve timing, to secure good torque delivery and powerful response throughout the whole rpm range – and the revised sports exhaust system sounds great at all speeds!

High specification suspension

Like every Yamaha R-Series, the R125 is equipped with state-of-the-art suspension. The 41mm KYB upside-down front forks provide an idealised balance of shock absorption and handling stability – while the rear link-type suspension system is designed to ensure excellent road holding together with a high level of riding comfort.

Deltabox frame and aluminium swingarm

Yamaha’s race developed Deltabox frame design is a signature element of R-Series Supersport technology, and its combination of low weight with high strength ensures agile and stable handling performance. And combined with premium front and rear suspension and short aluminium swingarm, this class-leading chassis provides you with a lightweight Supersport handling experience.

Outstanding braking performance

Equipped with a large diameter 292mm floating front disc as well as a 220mm rear disc, the braking systems of the R125 produce outstanding performance. Featuring a 2-pot radial mount front caliper and lightweight front and rear discs for powerful and progressive stopping power, this sophisticated braking set-up gives you precise and accurate control.

Wide 140-section Michelin Pilot Street rear tyre

To confirm its strong R-series DNA the R125 runs on Michelin Pilot Street tyres, with a wide 140/70-17 rear tyre that gives excellent stability and confidence in cornering. Offering a good balance of grip and durability, this Supersport style tyre is designed to enable you to optimise the potential of the engine’s broad spread of power – and its wide section accentuates the bike’s aggressive R-Series attitude.

Sporty riding position

Besides the M1 style MotoGP®-inspired cockpit, the race-bred R125 is also equipped with a 2-piece rider and passenger seat featuring thick foam for a smooth ride. With an optimised handlebar position as well as a slim-sculpted fuel tank with recessed knee-grip areas and aluminium rear set footrests, the R125’s ergonomics give a balanced riding experience that’s both sporty and comfortable.
