2024 Zero DS Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

EFFORTLESS POWER
The Zero DS is the tip of the spear in the Zero Motorcycles dual sport lineup. In 2024, this all-new iteration of the DS unleashes a formidable 97 ft-lbs of torque, ready to conquer everything from rugged backroads to your everyday commute. With its upgraded battery, fresh design, and innovative motor, the DS offers enhanced capabilities across the board. Whether it’s your daily journey or an electrifying adventure, the Zero DS is a compelling choice.

Z-FORCE 75-7
The all-new Z-Force 75-7 motor is Zero’s latest in a long line of enhanced thermal efficiency, passively air-cooled, interior permanent magnet AC motors. The 2024 Z-Force 75-7 shares the exterior motor hardware of the DSR/X, the pinnacle of the Zero dual sport line, to shed heat fast but utilizes different internal architecture to maximize power and drastically reduce weight. The result is overall cost savings for a category killer in the dual sport electric class.

POWER PIVOT
Just like the best electric dual sport motorcycle in the world, the Zero DSR/X, the 2024 DS features the proprietary and reinforced concentric motor and swingarm pivot design. This provides optimal architecture to ensure constant drive-belt tension and maximum torque delivery to the rear wheel. A custom-designed, large-bearing swingarm pivot allows ample space for the high-performance motor while allowing a slim chassis waist to enhance rider ergonomics and bike maneuverability either through traffic or through rutted-out back country.

EFFORTLESS CONTROL
The 2024 Zero DS is updated with a suite of standard performance features in Zero’s latest Cypher III+ operating system. Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (MSC), including the Offroad MSC that is also found on the DSR/X, is equal parts brawn and brains. Effortless power is paired with intuitive control, creating the new standard for premium performance at an incredibly attainable price point. The Zero DS is an adaptable motorcycle and powertrain combination that navigates diverse road terrain and conditions, effortlessly.

CYPHER III+
Cypher III+ sets the benchmark as the premier operating system for electric motorcycles, orchestrating the Zero DS with precision. The DS is infinitely customizable and comes with the ability to add new Cypher Features through the NextGen app. Elevate your riding experience to the next level with the Zero DS.

ARSENAL OF RIDE MODES
The Zero DS’s arsenal of ride modes allows the rider to customize the bike’s performance through Zero’s intuitive NextGen app and dash interface. The DS navigates the road no matter the conditions with Rain, Eco, Standard, Sport, and Canyon modes pre-loaded along with a virtually infinite number of custom-tuned mode adjustments available. Bosch Offroad MSC can be applied to any mode, enhancing control in low-traction conditions. Experience unparalleled flexibility and performance tailored to your preferences and terrain.

EFFORTLESS CONNECTION
The Zero DS is not just connected, but truly “smart” with the Cypher III+ operating system and available over-the-air (OTA) updates. Customize the dash, access the NextGen app with standard features, and enjoy limitless possibilities. Futureproof intelligence and unmatched power make the DS the ultimate ride with seamless connection in every detail.

THE CONNECTED BIKE
The Zero DS is connected through cellular networks, transmitting info to the NextGen app at all times. The app offers access to a host of ride information including current bike status and location that are always available. This connectivity gives the rider the ability to monitor the bike in four main areas: Bike Status & Alerts, Charging, Ride Data Sharing, and OTA System Updates.

ADVANCED APP
Zero’s NextGen app works with the dash and Cypher III+ to create a feature-rich ecosystem with access to new Cypher Features where upgrades can be selected with the tap of a finger. Faster Charging, On-Dash Navigation, and Parking Mode are just a few of the features available for you to choose from. Other features already included for free within the app include ride mode selection and creation, personalized dash options, scheduled and target-based charging, and so much more.

2024 Zero DS Battery
Z-FORCE 14.4 BATTERY PACK
The Z-FORCE 14.4 kWh lithium-ion battery requires no maintenance or upkeep and makes the DS capable of 144 miles of city range. Riders can extend their range even farther with the available Power Tank accessory (dealer install required). The battery’s industry-leading power and energy density combined with an aluminum heat-sink housing and thermal transfer interface ensure consistent cell cooling and maximum long-term powertrain performance.

2024 Zero DS Charger
RAPID CHARGE SYSTEM
Our Rapid Charge System is customizable for various charging levels but the baseline for the Zero DS is a powerful 3.0 kW charger. To get even faster charging you can elect to have your dealer install the available Rapid Charging Module accessory and boost your onboard charging power. Alternatively, you can use the included EVSE cord to charge the Zero DS from any standard 110V wall outlet for an overnight charge.

2024 Zero DS Motor
Z-FORCE 75-7 MOTOR
The Z-Force 75-7 motor delivers 97 ft-lb of torque and 68 hp, effortlessly propelling the DS to a top speed of 104 mph. Pairing Zero’s renowned internal permanent magnet brushless architecture and a passively air-cooled compact design creates class-leading performance and efficiency.

2024 Zero DS Chassis
CHASSIS
While it may appear that the Zero DS shares the same steel-trellis frame as Zero’s street motorcycles, the similarities end there. Updated to maximize its strength while shedding as much weight as possible, the frame is reinforced for the rigors of any terrain thrown at it. The powertrain is perfectly distributed, resulting in a weight-optimized/mass-centralized design. The Zero DS componentry is also situated differently to optimize for adventure by providing a category-leading 9.7” of ground clearance. Paired with a coaxial power-pivot swingarm which has been reinforced to handle greater loads under harsher conditions, the architecture of the bike and Showa’s adventure suspension delivers a nimble and controlled riding experience.

2024 Zero DS Brakes
LINKED BRAKING
The DS features a linked braking system. Controlled by the integrated Bosch Advanced Stability Control System, it activates instantly upon sensing a loss of traction or any slippage. The system immediately applies the right amount of braking to the J.Juan front and rear brakes simultaneously, providing added control when climbing or descending steep, loose terrain.

2024 Zero DS Dash
SEE CLEARLY
Customize your dash or simply let the industry’s gold standard in auto-contrasting light sensing do all the work for you. Data fields abound when you choose the bike info you want to focus on, clearly legible on the full-color 5” TFT display. Multi-mode navigation enables on-the-fly ride mode switching, cruise-control, heated grip control, and much more.

2024 Zero DS Wheels
RUBBER SIDE DOWN
The DS can navigate virtually any obstacle in its way thanks to its incredibly light and durable cast wheels, 19” up front and 17” in the rear. These come wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires for uniformly excellent performance on all surface types. However, the indomitable Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tires are available for those riders who want to upgrade their DS into a fully trail-rated off-road monster.

2024 Zero DS Belt drive
CARBON STRONG
Zero collaborated with Gates Carbon Belt Drive, the leader in belt-driven powersport technologies, to develop an entirely new belt drive system for the DS. Wider, stronger, and more capable than ever, the Gates Carbon Drive Moto X9™ belt is paired to the Mudport Wheel Sprocket with larger, ported sprockets to reduce bend angles and eliminate debris from the drive train. This combination results in the most durable drive system that is found on any electric motorcycle.

*Chain Kit option available as accessory purchase

2024 Zero DS Headlight
LIGHT THE WAY
See the road ahead like never before and ensure it always sees you with the custom-made full LED headlight and LED taillight with opalescent light-pipe for unrivaled lateral visibility. The 2024 DS can be upgraded with optional LED turn and hazard indicators so you can be confident your intentions are broadcast as far as possible in any low light situations.

2024 Zero DS Storage
ROOM TO SPARE
The DS comes stock with 28L of onboard storage volume in various storage compartments. From the covert stash spots on the motorcycle to the voluminous tank assembly storage sometimes referred to as a “frunk,” the DS is literally filled with thoughtful storage options that complement your favorite ADV riding gear. In addition, the DS can be equipped with bespoke storage cases from some of the most trusted names in adventure riding.
