– 2000 Triumph Sprint RS
All new for the millennium the Sprint RS is Triumph’s exciting new half-faired sports machine.
Offered in three single colour paint schemes, the RS combines distinctive styling features with chrome graphics to create a highly individual motorcycle, aimed at the rider who prefers a pared down, sporty look.
The sleek half-fairing, featuring Triumph’s trademark elliptical headlamps, boldly exposes the engine, which is finished in silver and graphite grey. Whilst the aluminium perimeter frame not only looks purposeful with its matt black finish but, combined with the all new double-sided swingarm, endows the RS with precision handling and exceptional high speed stability.
The lean, sporty look is further underlined by a range of details, such as the removable rear seat cowl, the newly styled mirrors and an all-electric instrument console which features a digital speedometer and clock, two digital trip meters and an analogue tachometer.
The handlebars offer a sporty, yet comfortable, riding position whilst the new round-section, upswept silencer allows excellent ground clearance for even the most enthusiastic of riders on the twistiest of back roads.
Power delivery is forceful and exhilarating with the liquid-cooled and fuel-injected three cylinder producing a powerful 110PS (108bhp), with a broad spread of torque across the rev range.
The result is a lean and agile sports machine, with the focus firmly on fun and excitement.
Difference between Sprint RS and Daytona units are:
Cylinder liners (steel instead of coated aluminium).
Pistons (to match liners).
Camshafts – revised lift and timing to boost midrange power
EFI – engine management system is digitally remapped to match the new characteristics of the engine.
