Introducing the Can-Am Spyder.

Nothing you’ve experienced prepares you for the thrill of hitting the open road astride a Spyder™ roadster. Its revolutionary 3-wheeled stance alters the chemistry between vehicle and asphalt. Leaving riders forever changed by what can only be described as the Y-Factor™

/ skeleton /
Spyder is built around a Surrounding Spar Technology (SST™) frame, featuring a minimalist steel center beam, surrounding the engine. It minimizes weld points for greater structural integrity. This light and slim frame provides a low center of gravity to enhance stability and handling.

/ muscle /
Fluid motion stems from the smooth 5-speed gearbox created specifically for the Spyder. It features a true mechanical reverse. An optional thumb-shift sequential electronic transmission offers even greater ease of use. The final beltdrive provides ultra-smooth gearing and easy maintenance.

/ heart /
Providing life under the hood is a Rotax® 990cc, V-twin liquid cooled engine. It delivers a strong
push and responsive acceleration throughout the power band. Advanced features include double overhead cams and a state-of-the-art electronic fuel management system.

/ nervous system /
Spyder senses its surroundings utilizing multiple on-board Electronic Control Units (ECUs). These sophisticated systems monitor a broad range of functions, from wheel slippage to digitally encoded security information.

The Spyder roadster is a three-wheeled roadster for the road, with two wheels in front and one in the rear, and can be described as part motorcycle, part convertible sports car. It offers all of the open-air benefits of a motorcycle and many of the peace-of-mind features of a car, something not traditionally found in open-road riding. Its revolutionary 3-wheeled stance alters the chemistry between vehicle and asphalt. Leaving riders forever changed by what can only be described as the Y-Factor.

Detailed Product Information:

If you are not familiar with BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products), it is the powersport company that produces Sea-Doo watercrafts, Ski-Doo snowmobiles and, Can-Am ATVs. With its new addition, BRP has products for the water, the snow, the dirt and now the open road!

While initially concepting an on-road vehicle more than five years ago, BRP wanted to stay strong to its core value and innovative spirit by designing a paradigm-shifting vehicle. The result is the Spyder – a roadster that makes a true statement and is like nothing anyone has seen before – with a Y-architecture providing unique proportions blended with flowing-edge design.

The Spyder has state-of-the-art power and technology, including a Rotax 990 V-Twin engine featuring dual-overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. This same 106 horsepower engine is found in a number of reputable motorcycles. It will be available with two transmission options, a sequential manual five-speed (SM5) and sequential electronic five-speed (SE5) transmission, both of which include a transmission-based reverse.

The semi-automatic option is an electronically controlled mechanical transmission that uses a simple thumb shifter on the ergonomic handle. This creates a smooth and seamless shift for both up and down shifting. Plus, its intelligent technology automatically downshifts making coming to a stop effortless and worry free. This option will be available to the public later this summer or early fall.

The skeleton of the Can-Am Spyder is built around a Surrounding Spar Technology (SST™) frame, featuring a minimalist steel center beam, surrounding the engine. It minimizes weld points for greater structural integrity. This light and slim frame provides a low center of gravity to enhance stability and handling.

The nervous system of the Can-Am Spyder senses its surroundings utilizing multiple on-board Electronic Control Units (ECUs). These sophisticated systems monitor a broad range of functions, from wheel slippage to digitally encoded security information.

The Can-Am Spyder features a Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) and a Vehicle Stability System (VSS) engineered in conjunction with Bosch, which features anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control.

The Spyder is designed for powersport enthusiasts and people that consider themselves “weekend warriors” – those who enjoy touring and cruising the open road for fun, as a social activity and to be seen and noticed. The riding experience resembles that of a sport-touring, touring or cruiser, but cannot be labeled in any of these categories because of its unique and different “rider-active” feel and style.

BRP Can-Am Spyder Roadster SM5 background:

The Spyder was announced to the world in San Diego in early Feb. 07 and dealerships in 11 states (AZ, CA, CO, FL, MA, MI, MN, NJ, NY, VA, and WI – the Phase 1 rollout) started taking pre-orders for roadsters that would start being produced in Sept. 07. The first Spyder, unit #001 was requested by and delivered to Jay Leno. In that period, BRP set a goal of 2,500 pre-sold units and they were thrilled to announce that they were able to reach that goal and more. BRP recently announced their Phase 2 rollout – 24 additional states. There are Spyder owners in every state, including Hawaii (there’s no dealership there!) More and more Spyder enthusiasts are on the road each and every day.

2008 Can-Am™ Spyder™ roadster. This three-wheel vehicle, with two wheels in the front and
one in the rear, offers a completely new and stunning look. Powered by a proven 990 V-Twin
engine designed and manufactured by BRP-Rotax, the Spyder roadster, with its unique Yarchitecture,
can be described as part motorcycle and part convertible sports car.

“Our Can-Am Spyder roadster is the next dimension in open-road riding. A true paradigm shift,
the Spyder roadster offers a balance of performance and peace of mind with features like the
Vehicle Stability System (VSS), engineered in conjunction with Bosch†, which includes anti-lock
brakes, traction control and stability control systems,” said José Boisjoli, president and CEO,
BRP.

BRP’s reputation was built on its ability to innovate and design products for powersports
enthusiasts. After more than five years of research, the Can-Am Spyder roadster is now
delivering on the company’s promise to offer a complete line of recreational motorized products
in four segments: On snow, on water, as well as both off and on road.

While confirming that the Can-Am Spyder roadsters would be assembled in Valcourt, Boisjoli
added: “This is a historic event for BRP, particularly for our Valcourt and Austrian employees,
as it confirms the strategic role of BRP’s Québec manufacturing facilities for assembling
complex and sophisticated vehicles, and BRP-Rotax’s leadership in engine development. With
Can-Am Spyder, we are redefining the roadster category by bringing the powersports
experience to the road through this new generation of vehicles. BRP is entering a new era that
will provide growth opportunities for our company worldwide and potentially create new jobs,”
he concluded.

Plans are to start manufacturing units by fall 2007 with a progressive ramp-up of the production
over the next three years to meet market demand.

“This event also marks BRP’s first truly global launch,” said Chris Dawson, vice-president,
Strategic planning & Head of Can-Am Spyder Program. “In 2007, BRP will deploy the first
phase of its go-to-market strategy: twelve selected American states and four Canadian
provinces will offer Can-Am Spyder roadsters through BRP’s existing dealer network, followed
by France and Spain in early 2008. In its second phase, BRP will expand its Can-Am Spyder
offer to more North American states, Canadian provinces, Europe and other countries, and
expects to be present worldwide within three to four years,” he concluded.

Among those participating in the event were Jean Charest, Québec Premier, Raymond
Bachand, Québec Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Exports, as well as Yvon
Vallières, Québec Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. The Premier confirmed a

Press Release #5

PREMIERE EDITION SPYDER CLARIFICATION – APRIL 9, 2008

With the recent flurry of comments online and particularly on Can-AmTalk.com, we wanted to address the issues raised in the last few days. With the launch of Spyder, we’re very proud of what we have created, including the Premiere Edition program but we’ve also made some mistakes and we want to clear the air.

We’re just as excited about the open exchange of information as you are. We’re very happy to see this level of exchange between Spyder owners and enthusiasts. Keep it coming! Even amid a few “conspiracy theories” out there, we actually enjoy reading the comments as the Spyder community grows!

Regarding the Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters, we want to acknowledge that we made a mistake on the numbering sequence and we want to apologize. The information we provided two weeks ago was wrong and we are sorry.

Now, let’s set the record straight.

When we first began taking Premiere Edition pre-orders in February of 2007, our goal was to create an exclusive club for the first 2,500 North American Spyder roadster owners. This remains true today.
There are exactly 2,589 Premiere Edition Spyder owners in North America.

From this, we created the 2.5K owners program and provided the 2.5K owners map. Yes, we rounded down to 2,500!

We were pleasantly surprised to learn that some people actually took the time to count the names on the map and came up with 2,532! The difference with 2,589 is strictly a timing issue between the printing of the map and the actual final number in our system. Our intent was to promote the symbolic 2.5K number.

Furthermore, the confusion resides in the numbering sequence and we apologize for this, but want to further explain exactly what has happened.

As previously discussed on SpyderRyder.com, the two main reasons for the Premiere Edition Spyder sequence numbers exceeding #2,589 are the dealer demo units and the Try Spyder Tour units. In fact, I mentioned the final sequence number of Premiere Edition units should be at #3,306 in a recent Can-AmTalk forum. These 800 dealer/tour units were taken from the same sequence as the Premiere Edition vehicles to ensure that dealers and tour staff had display and demo units quickly for training and marketing purposes.

I also want to bring it to your attention that we recently discovered a mistake with the Premiere Edition numbering sequence. Contrary to the information that we had received, it turns out that we did include approximately 550 international/overseas units in the production line sequence for Premiere Edition vehicles. The original intent was to start a new numbering sequence for international/overseas units. Unfortunately, this did not occur and we are sorry.

With the addition of the 550 international/overseas units and the 800 or so dealer demo and tour units, it puts the final sequence number of Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters at 3,856. We apologize for the confusion, but want to assure you, as our most valued Spyder customers, there are only 2,589 Premiere Edition Spyder first owners in North America.

Again, we apologize for the confusion regarding the quantities of Premiere Edition Spyder roadsters.
