Montesa and the National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) will celebrate the official opening of the “VIVA Montesa” exhibition on September 29th at 7:00 pm. This exhibition is dedicated to the history of one of the most iconic brands in the Spanish motorcycle industry. It will coincide with the museum’s reopening following renovations and will be open to the public.

To mark Montesa’s 80th anniversary , the family of businessman Pere Permanyer has assembled an exhibition of 80 iconic motorcycles from the brand. The initiative, launched under the MontesaViva brand to keep Montesa’s legacy alive, is a tribute to a brand that has left an indelible mark on industrial design, engineering, and motorcycling. The exhibition pays homage to its founder, Pere Permanyer i Puigjaner, an entrepreneur, industrialist, inventor, and visionary who dedicated his life to fostering innovation and contributing to the modernization of society in his time.

In addition to exploring eight decades of history, visitors attending the inauguration will be able to enjoy the presence of the members of the Repsol Honda Trial Team , as well as get a close look at some of the motorcycles that currently keep Montesa as a world reference in this discipline.

The celebration will also serve as a stage to showcase the Montesa 2027 range to the public , which will be unveiled soon.

Eight decades of history, innovation and passion

The “ VIVA Montesa ” exhibition brings together some of the most representative models in the brand’s history, including the A-45 , the Brío , the Impala , the Cappra , and the Cota , from the Permanyer Collection. Each of these motorcycles reflects a fundamental stage in Montesa’s evolution and its contribution to the development of mobility, industry, and motorsports.

The exhibition also pays tribute to Pere Permanyer Puigjaner , founder and driving force behind the company, whose entrepreneurial vision and innovative spirit were key to making Montesa an international benchmark.

As a complement to the historical tour, the MNACTEC will host a specific space dedicated to competition motocross motorcycles , with an exceptional selection of original models that review the brand’s great sporting successes between the sixties and eighties.

Organized into three major chronological stages, the exhibition explains the origins of Montesa, its industrial and sporting expansion, and the subsequent collaboration with Honda, which consolidated the brand’s specialization in trial and laid the foundations for the extraordinary record it continues to build today.

More than just a motorcycle exhibition, “VIVA Montesa” is an invitation to discover eighty years of innovation, effort, design and passion for two wheels, as well as the legacy of a brand that is part of the industrial and sporting history of Catalonia and Spain.
