2008 Triumph Thruxton
2008 Triumph Thruxton
The essence of a motorcycle.
The Thruxton draws on the Spartan café racing machines of the sixties and takes its name from the near-mythic racing Triumphs of that era. With its perfectly proportioned evocative silhouette the Thruxton is a truly beautiful machine, which seamlessly mixes the classic sixties style with a modern attitude. The basic essence of motorcycling transcends all technology. What a bike is and represents to the owner is very nearly as important as what it does. All thats really needed, for many, are an engine, two wheels, a seat and a pair of handlebars. The Thruxton captures that spirit.
The 2008 Thruxton will be available from December 2007.
The Modern Classics Range - Bikes that reflect the original freedom
and fun of biking. Beautifully engineered and meticulously detailed - theyre
the real thing. Powered by authentic air-cooled parallel twins, their performance,
handling, brakes and fuel injection are bang up to date. And the look? - thats
genuinely classic.
FEATURES:
Engine
The Thruxtons 865cc, air-cooled, twin cylinder power plant, the most
powerful of Triumphs twin cylinder line-up, has a peak power output
of 69bhp delivered at 7400rpm and peak torque of 52ft.lbf arrives at 5800rpm.
The engine shares the same 360° firing interval as the Bonneville, as
well as featuring hot camshaft profiles and a compression ratio
of 9.2:1.
Fueling
Twin carburetors with throttle position sensor and electric carburetor heaters
Handlebars
Sporty riding position, with stylish bar-end mirrors, engineered specifically
for the Thruxton, come standard.
Chassis
Wrapping the motor is a precisely crafted chassis that inspires confidence;
its harder edge delivering real sporting character. The sturdy, preload adjustable
41mm telescopic forks and twin rear shocks give superb suspension action and
compliance while sharper steering geometry, a wheelbase of 1490mm and 18 inch
aluminum-rimmed front wheel all aid steering input.
Brakes
A fully floating 320mm front disc and twin-piston brake caliper provide powerful,
but sensitive, braking performance.
