2021 Ducati XDiavel S : EYE CATCHING EXCITEMENT.

Introducing the new 2021 Ducati XDiavel S…

The XDiavel S features thrilling black with matt black and red trim with grey frame and black wheels color scheme. The bike also has the innovative DRL (Daytime Running Light) at the front, forks with DLC coating, Brembo M50 front brake callipers, a special seat and parts with machine-finished highlights. These include eye-catching alloy wheels and aluminium engine belt covers, given even greater allure thanks to the gloss black paintwork.

Ducati enters the Cruiser world and does so in its very own way, representing the best of both worlds. The Ducati world: thrilling performance, sporty power, advanced electronics.

The cruiser world: long, low, forward positioned footpegs, powerful torque even at low speeds, no compromise in terms of materals and finishes.

Ducati enters the Cruiser domain and does so in its own inimitable way, presenting a true Cruiser with all the design, technology and performance one expects from a Ducati thoroughbred. Called the XDiavel, it brings together two worlds: the Cruiser world – low speeds, relaxed riding, long journeys and feet forward ergonomics – and the Ducati world, characterised by Italian style, refined engineering and unparalleled performance.

The XDiavel ensures the “low speed excitement” typical of a Cruiser and the adrenaline rush of sports riding that Ducati has made its own. That’s what the X in XDiavel stands for: the merging of two apparently separate, distant worlds on one bike, a superb combination where both are accomplished without compromise.

5,000, 60, 40. Three numbers that sum up the XDiavel concept.

5,000 as in the rpm at which the twin-cylinder engine achieves maximum torque (13.1 kgm). Extremely low revs for a Ducati engine but perfect for a Cruiser. Moreover, at 2,100 rpm the XDiavel power unit already ensures a torque of over 10 kgm, with an extremely flat curve all the way to the rev-limiter. Yet the engine remains a Ducati engine through and through, with a maximum power of 156 hp and thrilling performance across the rev range.

To obtain that performance Ducati engineers pushed the Testastretta engine through its ultimate development phase to create the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262. Increased engine displacement, together with the DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) system, results in delivery of full yet fluid torque at low revs, but ensures sports bike performance when the throttle is twisted wide open. Moreover, the design work on the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 has been meticulous: for example, relocation of the water pump inside the intra-cylinder V means the cooling system pipes are no longer visible on the left.

60, as in the number of different ergonomic configurations for the rider. The XDiavel provides vast scope for personalisation thanks to 4 different footrest positions, 5 different seats and three different handlebars. Furthermore the passenger has the option to choose between a regular seat and a comfort seat with backrest, both as standard equipment. All this, then, because comfortable riding means full “low speed excitement”.

Lastly, 40, as in the maximum attainable lean angle. The XDiavel is a Ducati and as such ensures dynamic performance and the thrill of a sports bike, but only when you really want to push it to the limit. Frame, suspension, brakes and the chassis set-up have been designed to maximise sports-style riding fun, but without compromising on the comfort and easy handling that are essential when exploring the highways at a more relaxed pace.

The XDiavel is the first Ducati to use belt-type final transmission. A must within the Cruiser world, this system has been developed for the XDiavel by Ducati engineers to ensure reliable, secure transmission of the power provided by the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262. Belt drive offers the advantages of more silent running, cleanliness, reduced maintenance and the fluid throttle response one wants from a Cruiser.

Design and technology merge again on the Full LED light assemblies, which play a key role in the styling of the XDiavel.

Like all latest-generation Ducati bikes the XDiavel features the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which dynamically measures pitch and roll angles plus the speed of relative variations in attitude, thus raising performance and safety standards even further. This system, together with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Riding Modes, Bosch Cornering ABS , Cruise Control and the innovative Ducati Power Launch (DPL) make the XDiavel a technological gem offering high performance and, above all, safety.

Ducati renews the XDiavel range by introducing two new versions for 2021: XDiavel Dark and XDiavel Black Star.

XDiavel Dark enhances the beauty of the Ducati cruiser shapes thanks to the essentiality of the matt black colour. The Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer has a bond of over twenty years with matt black that began in 1998 with the Monster 600 Dark, the first model to wear this livery. On the XDiavel Dark the total black livery has also been extended to the mechanical components, plates, and finishes, enhancing the Ducati “Reduce to the Max” design principle. The XDiavel Dark represents purity, essentiality, and the gateway to the world of XDiavel.

The new XDiavel Black Star version shows enthusiasts the sporty side of the Ducati cruiser, with a livery and equipment inspired by the world of sports cars. The dedicated livery alternates grey and matt black with inevitable touches of red. The colour cuts are clear and intersect, echoing the X concept that characterizes the family.

No detail has been overlooked on this bike: the red engine head covers are a reminder of the 100% Ducati soul, and the seat, enriched with a high-grip suede fabric, evokes the sportiness of the brand.

Characterizing elements of the XDiavel Black Star are the forged rims, entirely machined and painted in gloss black, which enhance the aesthetics of the bike and lighten it, resulting in a weight saving of over 2 kg. At the front end, the bike sports a 3.5” x 17’’ wheel, at the rear an 8” x 17’’ one. The front wheel mounts a traditional 120/70 ZR17 tyre with a tread redesigned to maximise wet weather performance. The rear tyre is a 240/45 ZR17. The bike comes with new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tyres.

On both new versions and on the entire 2021 range, the twin-cylinder Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 becomes Euro 5 compliant in all countries that adopt the standard. To comply with the new European emissions standard, an updated silencer layout, a new design, derived from the Diavel 1260, and a new engine calibration have been adopted. In this way, the XDiavel now delivers a maximum power of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 13.0 kgm at 5,000 rpm with an increase, compared to the Euro 4 version, of 8 hp and 0, 2 kgm.

Like all the latest generation Ducatis, the XDiavel is also equipped with the Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which, by dynamically measuring the roll and pitch angles as well as the speed of the relative set-up variations, provides the information to the Bosch Cornering ABS, allowing performance and safety standards to be raised.

This system, together with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Riding Modes, Bosch Cornering ABS, Cruise Control and Ducati Power Launch (DPL) make the XDiavel a technological gem offering high performance and, above all, safety.

XDiavel is the result of the contamination between two apparently different and distant universes, united in a single bike. A synthesis in which both meet up in a complete, totally uncompromising way. The X of XDiavel precisely represents this crossover, which sees on the one hand the relaxed pace at low speed typical of the Cruiser world and on the other the excitement and adrenaline of Ducati’s sporty riding.

2021 Ducati XDiavel S Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Ergonomics
Tailored for you
The new XDiavel offers a relaxed riding position, characterised by a low seat and advanced footpegs. There are many possible riding position settings and the extensive catalogue of accessories allow all riders to adapt the bike to their riding style and shape.

Riding pleasure
The Ducati of cruisers
You can tell it is a Ducati at the first corner: the way it leans, its technical content, its cutting-edge electronic package and high performance guarantee for an unforgettable riding experience. The wide handlebar and advanced footpegs of the new XDiavel, on the other hand, offer riding ergonomics that allow a relaxed and comfortable ride at any speed.

Engine
The engine is the king
For the entire XDiavel 2021 range, the Ducati Testastretta DVT 1262 twin-cylinder engine becomes Euro 5 compliant in all countries that adopt this standard. To comply with the new European emissions standard, an updated silencer layout has been adopted, with a new design that further enhances the bike’s lines and new engine calibration. As a result, the XDiavel delivers a maximum power output of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.23 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm, with an increase of 8 hp and 1.44 lb-ft compared to the Euro 4 version.

Equipment
The standard equipment of the XDiavel is extensive and includes: Bosch inertial platform (IMU), ABS Cornering and Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Power Launch, and full-LED lighting system.

Testastretta DVT 1262
The undisputed protagonist of the XDiave is the Testastretta DVT 1262 twin-cylinder engine now compliant with the new European emissions standard. Featuring an updated and newly designed silencer layout and a new engine calibration. As a result, the XDiavel delivers a maximum power output of 160 hp at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.23 lb-ft at 5,000 rpm, with an increase of 8 hp and 1.44 lb-ft compared to the Euro 4 version.

5,000 rpm
Approximately 80% of the maximum torque of the XDiavel is almost immediately available: at 2,100 rpm. This means you can pick up speed without having to shift down a gear, by sightly opening the throttle. Just like you expect from a cruiser. The torque peak – 7.23 lb-ft – is reached instead at 5,000 rpm, a pretty low speed for a Ducati twin-cylinder engine. If you want the maximum of what the XDiavel can do, when the Tachometer reaches 9,500 rpm, the wheel gets 160 hp.

Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
The “Dragster” spirit of the XDiavel can be fully expressed thanks to the Ducati Power Launch (DPL). This system can guarantee fast and safe starts thanks to the Bosch IMU which regulates the gas and the intervention of the DTC on the basis of the setting chosen.

Ride-by-Wire
The Ride-by-Wire (RbW) system is an electronic interface between the engine and the Diavel’s fuel grip, which allows the ideal power level to be configured depending on the Riding Mode selected.

Belt transmission
The XDiavel is the first Ducati to use belt final drive.

Forward footpegs
When the designers and engineers started to work on the XDiavel, they started from a basic concept: a relaxed riding position, like a real cruiser, with a low seat and forward footpegs.

Adjustable suspension
The XDiavel has a 50 mm diameter front fork with black anodised sheaths, which can be completely adjusted in the hydraulic braking in compression and extension and in the spring preload (the S version also has stems with DLC coating).

Bosch Brembo braking system
The XDiavel is equipped, as standard, with the Brembo braking system with Bosch 9.1ME ABS Cornering. ABS Cornering makes use of the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) platform by Bosch to optimize the braking power of the front and back wheels, also in critical situations and when cornering. The system, implemented within the Riding Mode, can provide performance to suit all conditions and riding styles.

Tires and wheels
The XDiavel features fourteen-spoke rims: 3.5″ x 17″ at the front and 8″ x 17″ at the rear. A 120/70 ZR17 tire is fitted at the front, with a redesigned tread pattern to maximize performance in wet conditions. The rear tire instead is 240/45 ZR17. The tires are the new Pirelli Diablo Rosso III.

Riding Mode
The XDiavel integrates the latest innovations in Ducati technology, such as Riding Modes.

Ducati Traction Control (DTC)
DTC is a very smart system which acts as a “filter” between the rider’s right hand and the rear wheel.

Full LED lighting system with DRL
The XDiavel S features a dominant front headlight with Daytime Running Light (in countries where it is allowed).
