2022 KTM 65 SX: FAST HAS NO AGE LIMIT.

Introducing the 2022 KTM 65 SX…

The KTM 65 SX is sharing the same development strategy as the bigger 2-Strokes. It has everything the bigger bikes do, from a proper clutch and gearbox to the latest WP XACT front forks with revolutionary AER technology, modern, aggressive graphics, and power delivery that sets the benchmark in its class. Like its larger counterparts, the KTM 65 SX has real-world READY TO RACE written all over it.

THE BATTLE FOR GLORY
The 2022 KTM Motocross range is the most complete and most technologically advanced line-up of Motocross and Supercross motorcycles that brings KTM’s production bikes closer than ever to the championship-winning machines of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing stars.

To prove the point, we took FIM MX World Champions Jeffrey Herlings and Tom Vialle to an MXGP track and let them throw some fast laps on the production 2022 KTM 65 SX and KTM 125 SX models.

4-STROKE – LEGACY COMES AS STANDARD
The championship-winning KTM SX-F range has been a dominant force in the FIM Motocross World Championship, AMA Supercross series, and the AMA Pro National Motocross Championship for years. Tapping into the recent success of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing stars, KTM engineers had clear objectives while designing the updated 2022 SX range; to create the lightest, best-handling, most powerful, and most technically-advanced Motocross models ever to roll their wheels out of the factory in Mattighofen, Austria.

2-STROKE – DISTINCT POISE AND POWER
Instantaneous throttle response and the best power-to-weight ratio in the Motocross segment has been the calling card for 2-Stroke fans for years. For 2022, KTM once again offers three distinct full-sized 2-Stroke offerings. Not to mention, KTM’s almost unrivaled success on the international stage, with seven of the 12 top spots in the 2020 EMX125 European Championship belonging to the KTM 125 SX.

Young racers deserve the very best when it comes to fast tracking their careers. For that reason, the KTM Sportminicycle range is treated with the same ground-up priority for development as the full-sized SX range. By treating the KTM 85 SX, KTM 65 SX and KTM 50 SX with the same development impetus as the larger machines, the 2022 KTM Sportminicycles range has retained its position as the class leader in junior motocross.

E-MINI – RACE UNPLUGGED
The 2022 KTM SX-E 5 is an all-electric mini racer designed to offer the most inexperienced of beginners a real, READY TO RACE experience, but at the same time, being a real-world option for competitive mini-racers. Zero emissions, low noise, easy operation and minimal maintenance make the KTM SX-E 5 a true future vision in the sport of motocross.

DROP THE GATE: THE NEW 2022 KTM MOTOCROSS RANGE HITS THE DEALER FLOORS NOW

After decades of seamless flow of information from the race paddock to KTM’s production line, the complete 2022 KTM SX range is closer than ever to the bikes winning titles. Engineered on the racetrack, and perfectly meeting KTM’s superior standards for performance in their updated 2022 livery, the new models are the absolute reference for Motocross and Supercross competition worldwide.

Built for those who know the importance of a solid technical base, the KTM SX-F model range is the choice of winners. The 2022 4-Stroke range includes three models that take advantage of KTM’s considerable gains in the segment featuring the latest WP XACT suspension technology and advanced tech solutions including Traction Control, Launch Control, variable engine mapping and reliable starters.

The purest definition of advanced motorcycle technology, the 2022 KTM 65 SX is an extremely compact package that produces an unrivalled 63 hp in the most effective way possible. The KTM 250 SX-F features unmatched outright speed in a class that pushes the boundaries of performance and the KTM 350 SX-F ideally mixes 250 agility with even more engine grunt.

Building upon a legacy of class-leading performance for aspiring and experienced racers alike, the new 2-Stroke range includes three distinct models. A benchmark in the division, the KTM 125 SX is the development of the bike that occupied seven of the 12 top spots in the 2020 EMX125 European Championship. In its updated 2022 trim, the KTM 150 SX can battle with the potent 250 4-Strokes, while the KTM 250 SX is a 2-Stroke powerhouse with the same light feeling.

All full-size 2022 KTM SX models introduce a frame finishing coated in racing orange to further reinforce the proximity to the championship winning machines of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing stars. The updated frame aligns perfectly with the new blue seat cover and the fresh colors in the graphics to emphasize visually the close link to KTM’s Factory machinery.

Complementing KTM’s 2022 SX range is a series of Sportminicycles that share the exact same race-driven development approach as KTM’s full-size Motocross bikes. Junior riders that climb on any of the KTM 50 SX, KTM 65 SX and KTM 85 SX models can do so knowing that they are experiencing class-leading performance, state-of-the-art WP suspension, high-end brakes and minimal weight. For tech-savvy riders, the wheels can start rolling with the 2022 KTM SX-E 5, the latest incarnation of a high-end electric mini-crosser that can grow together with the young rider on it.

Joachim Sauer – KTM Product Manager Offroad: “The new SX range is all about the proximity to our race machinery, and the bikes that are doing the business on racetracks around the continents. We’ve been refining these packages for several years and we feel the connection, both aesthetically but also in terms of performance, is now closer than ever. To prove our point, we gave production bikes to MXGP and MX2 World Champions and I’m glad to confirm they were surprised and impressed with their performance. It was fitting to give the 2022 models an even ‘racier’ look with the blue and orange design and to remind riders and fans that there isn’t a more READY TO RACE motocross range in any paddock anywhere.”

2022 KTM 65 SX Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Engine & Exhaust

Cooling

An intelligent cooling circuit with integrated crankcase cooling and two radiators improves the heat dissipation and ensures a constant temperature balance for consistent, high performance.

Engine

The KTM 65 SX features cutting-edge 2-stroke technology and an easy-to-shift 6-speed transmission with a hydraulic clutch. Benefitting from a reworked ignition curve, the cylinder, with its pressure-controlled exhaust valve, continues to provide class-leading power and plenty of torque.

Cylinder

The high performance cylinder features a pressure-controlled exhaust valve (PCEV) and provides unrivaled performance within the highly competitive 65 cc class.

Clutch

An outstanding feature of the KTM 65 SX is the hydraulic clutch made by Formula. It provides easy clutch action and well-defined modulation.

Chassis

Brakes

The front and rear brakes have massive 4 piston calipers that grip lightweight wave brake discs – 198 mm front and 160 mm rear. The hydraulic brake system is easy to control and ensures the best deceleration and the highest standard when it comes to performance.

Frame

The modern frame is made from lightweight, high strength chromoly steel profiles and combines maximum longitudinal stiffness with optimum torsional rigidity. It guarantees easy handling and precise cornering, but also outstanding stability.

Swingarm

Taking charge at the rear is a lightweight cast aluminum swingarm. Conceived using the latest in calculation and simulation software, the focus of the design was to minimize weight, optimize stiffness and clearly define flexibility. Additionally, it also features a robust 2-compound chain guide, similar to the full-size models.

Wheels

Like the full-size KTM Factory racers, the KTM 65 SX is fitted with lightweight, black anodized, aluminum rims which provide the highest strength and durability for any eventuality. These are fitted with OEM MAXXIS knobbly tires, to provide unmatched traction on any surface.

Front suspension

The KTM 65 SX is the first model in its class to be fitted with a modern, fully adjustable air fork: the WP XACT fork with AER technology. The upside-down front fork with a 35 mm tube diameter and 215 mm of travel ensures outstanding comfort, damping characteristics and directional stability. Another main benefit for junior riders is that the air spring fitted in the left fork leg can be adjusted perfectly to the rider’s weight using a simple air pump.

Rear suspension

The high quality WP XACT shock absorber is linked directly to the swingarm, providing excellent damping performance. It is fully adjustable, meaning you can set the damping perfectly to suit the rider’s preference and track conditions. The shock absorber allows for 270 mm of rear wheel travel.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Handlebar

Even young riders will be impressed at the high-quality anodized handlebar made from aluminum alloy. It also has the perfect bend to suit the ergonomics of the KTM 65 SX, and is strong enough to withstand the odd fall over. It also features a foam bar pad on the handlebar brace, which protects the rider in the event of any contact.

Bodywork & Graphics

Decals

The 2020 KTM SX models feature the latest in-mold graphics, matching the factory-look orange frames and bodywork perfectly. They have a fast and aggressive style that screams READY TO RACE, leaving no doubt as to the bikes’ high-performance intentions.
