The V-STROM’s 1037cc, 90-degree V-twin engine has more peak power than ever before while maintaining its strong pull off the bottom and superb fuel economy while complying with emissions standards worldwide. New camshafts and pistons are fed by a pair of large, 49mm, Ride-by-Wire electronic throttle bodies that deliver smooth, light, and precise throttle grip action. An updated Traction Control System*, now with four modes of adjustment, is joined by a new Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) that lets the rider choose from three different engine power delivery characteristics. Regardless of weather conditions, the Suzuki Easy Start System fires the V-STROM’s engine up with just a momentary press of the starter button. Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist system returns, making it easier for a V-STROM rider to avoid stalling the engine when pulling away from a stop or maneuvering through heavy traffic.

The V-STROM’s durable, twin-spar aluminum frame balances weight and rigidity for optimal handling on all types of roads. The cast aluminum swingarm is controlled by a single rear shock with remote, hydraulic spring preload adjustment so adjusting for cargo or a passenger takes just seconds. Upfront, the inverted KYB fork has spring preload adjustment plus both compression and rebound damping force adjustment for easy tuning. In popular 19- and 17-inch sizes, Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 tires are fitted to the V-STROM’s 10-spoke, cast-aluminum wheels. Like every V-STROM before it, the style, performance, and value of the V-STROM will be instantly recognized by experienced and enthusiastic riders.

POWERFUL V-TWIN ENGINE
The V-Strom 1050 is driven by a powerful V-Twin engine combining not only power but, character, excitement and economy too. The engine delivers a deep rumble from low rpm, as the revs rise linear torque through the mid-range and a maximum 107.4PS at high rpm. This engine is as enjoyable as it is easy to use making it versatile, excelling on any road or adventure.

LIGHTWEIGHT AND AGILE
The V-Strom’s lightweight and compact chassis is as important as its V-Twin engine when it comes to defining its character. Slim, even with a practical 20 litre fuel tank, it allows the rider to easily place their feet on the floor when stationary. It’s design also means an agile and stable adventure bike, which can cover motorway miles with ease while also comfortably negotiating twisty mountain passes and hairpin bends.

ADJUSTABLE SCREEN
The screen shape and size has been defined by extensive wind tunnel testing. The height can be adjusted to suit the rider’s stature or preferences adjustable to one of 3 positions with the use of tools.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES
The spring preload and compression/rebound damping of the KYB inverted front forks can be fully adjusted, allowing the suspension to be set based on the preference of the rider or the usage conditions. The rear suspension is a bottom link type mono-shock, and the preload can be adjusted simply by turning the easy access dial by hand. The Tokico monobloc front brake calipers are mounted radially and offer strong braking performance and control. Features two 310mm floating discs, 5mm thick and made from stainless steel. The rear brake has a 38mm single piston pin-slide caliper and 260mm disc.

ADVANCED RIDER TECHNOLOGY
The V-Strom 1050 is equipped with advanced rider technology, including a 3 mode traction control system, Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) for 3 selectable power modes, low RPM assist and the Suzuki easy start system. This model also uses a ride-by-wire throttle along with these other intelligent controls to enhance ease of use, convenience, comfort and enjoyment.

INTUITIVE INSTRUMENTS
The instrument panel uses a full LCD screen using a clean and intuitive layout with information displayed in order of priority. Included in the display are the speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, odometer, trip meter, instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, riding range, fuel level indicator, engine coolant temperature indicator, ambient air temperature indicator, clock, voltage meter, service reminder, SDMS mode, traction control mode, engine rpm indicator light, freeze indicator light, turn signal indicator light, high beam indicator light, traction control indicator light, ABS indicator light, and neutral indicator light.

LED LIGHTING
The headlight uses a full LED design, is vertically stacked and a unique rectangular shape. It clearly illuminates the road ahead and surrounding area for excellent visibility. ATTRACTIVE STYLING
The distinctive styling incorporates elements of both Suzuki’s legendary DR-Z desert racer and the large off-road model DR-BIG. The characteristic beak design first adopted by Suzuki stays true to Suzuki’s heritage while also further evolving the design to be more aggressive and bolder for the new generation V-STROM.

MOUNTING BAR
A mounting bar just below the rider’s eye level is part of the windscreen mount, providing a good place to position accessories like a GPS for navigation.

THE REFINED V-TWIN ENGINE
The liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1037cm 3 90deg V-twin engine further evolved. It meets new Euro 5 emission control standards while achieving high power of 79.0kW / 8,500rpm while maintaining low fuel consumption (4.9L / 100km). Also, a 35kW version has been added for the European Driving License Directive. The engine delivers deep rumble in the low rpm range, strong and linear torque in the mid-range and maximum horsepower in the high rpm range with a smooth run-up. This refined engine will support the rider to enjoy various situations such as city and rural roads, winding passes, flat dirt roads and highways.

LOW RPM ASSIST
The Low RPM assist system monitors and automatically raise the idle speed when taking off from a stop or when riding slowly. Using the electronic throttle, a even finer level control is made possible. The system makes it easier for the rider to pull away from a standstill or maneuver in heavy traffic or through a crowded parking lot.

SUZUKI EASY START SYSTEM
The Suzuki Easy Start System allows the rider to easily start the engine with a single press of the starter button in any weather conditions or engine state—whether cold or hot. There is no need to continue to press the starter button until the starter ignites and turns the engine.

SUZUKI CLUTCH ASSIST SYSTEM (SCAS)
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) works as an assist clutch to make the lever easier to pull while transmitting the power output, reducing fatigue on long touring.

ELECTRONICAL THROTTLE BODY
Now, the ride-by-wire throttle system is simpler, lighter and more compact than the previous model, with a larger bore (49mm compared to 45mm of the previous model). The throttle body is independently installed to both the front and rear cylinder. Each throttle body has a single butterfly valve, allowing each to be opened and closed using its own independent motor for precise control.

DUAL SPARK TECHNOLOGY
Each cylinder head is equipped with two iridium spark plugs. The ignition timing is controlled independently contributing to high combustion efficiency, higher power output, a more linear throttle response, easier engine startup and a more stable idle.

ECM
The newly programed ECM (Engine Control Module) provides state-of-the-art engine management and has optimized settings to meet Euro 5 regulations.

LIQUID-COOLED OIL COOLER
Uses a new liquid-cooled oil cooler. Located where the oil filter is attached, it takes up less space and is both lightweight and compact. The liquid-cooled oil cooler provides flawless lubrication for a more powerful engine.

MULTI-FUNCTION INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
The instrument panel presents all required information on a full LCD screen using a clean and intuitive layout with information displayed in order of priority. Included in the display are the speedometer, tachometer (full pixel digital display), gear position indicator, odometer, trip meter (A, B), instantaneous fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, driving range, fuel level indicator, engine coolant temperature indicator, ambient air temperature indicator, clock, voltage meter, service reminder, SDMS mode, traction control mode, engine rpm indicator light, freeze indicator light, turn signal indicator light, high beam indicator light, traction control indicator light, ABS indicator light, and neutral indicator light.

*The freeze indicator starts blinking when the ambient temperature falls below 3°C. It continues to blink for 30 seconds then remains lit until the ambient temperature rises above 5°C.

SUSPENSION
Movement of the cast aluminum swingarm is controlled by a single rear shock with remote, hydraulic spring preload adjustment so adjusting for cargo or a passenger takes just seconds. The single-shock, the link-style rear suspension also features rebound-damping force adjustment.

KYB INVERTED FRONT FORKS
The 43mm KYB inverted front fork provides a sporty, yet plush ride in diverse conditions. The fork legs have adjustable spring preload plus compression and rebound-damping force adjusters.

DURABLE TWIN-SPAR ALUMINUM FRAME
The lightweight cast aluminum twin-spar frame realizes the optimal rigidity balance for stability and handling performance. The swingarm is also aluminum supporting the balance and light handling.

COMFORTABLE SEAT
The new, two-piece seat provides separate comfort for the rider and passenger.

USB PORT
A new USB-type accessory slot is conveniently located to the left of the instrument panel. This fused slot is ideal for powering a GPS unit or charging mobile device.

ALUMINUM TAPERED HANDLEBARS
The new, higher riser and large-diameter tapered handlebar provides the rider good steering control while promoting a distinctive off-road appearance. The lightweight, high-strength handlebar also damps vibration to the rider. Both the clutch and front brake levers have adjustment knobs so the rider can quickly set the levers to a comfortable reach. The shifter and rear brake pedal can also be adjusted to the rider’s preference.
