Unveiling the 2025 KTM 450 SMR: a benchmark in the world of supermoto, designed for those who crave adrenaline and precision on the track. Combining cutting-edge technology with KTM’s race-proven engineering, the enhanced 2025 KTM 450 SMR offers unrivaled performance, agility, and power.
Using the recently updated 2025 KTM 450 SX-F as its base, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR raises the bar even higher, with key enhancements to the frame, fork, and ergonomics.
With its championship-winning 63 Ps 450 cc SOHC powerplant already a highlight, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR benefits from a slew of updates as found on the newly updated 2025 KTM SX-F range. The biggest and most significant of these can be found on the frame, with visible cutouts and tube-wall thickness changes around the front end, with the engine and rear shock mountings also undergoing the knife.
Besides a 300 g weight-saving, these structural changes have been engineered to improve chassis flex characteristics and cornering behavior while maintaining overall stability. On the latter point, smaller footrests for 2025 maximize lean angles and reduce the risk of hooking up on curbs.
The 2025 KTM 450 SMR also receives an adjustable 48 mm WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork for the first time. This features a new mid-valve piston concept that optimizes oil flow within the cartridge and avoids unwanted oil foaming, maintaining damping characteristics. A new hydro stop in the last part of the stroke helps to keep a maximum of reserves in extreme scenarios, like bigger jumps or hard landings.
At the rear, a WP XACT rear shock benefits from an updated linkage with renewed seals and smaller diameter linkage bolts. The setup is taken directly from the KTM Factory Racing Team and has been thoroughly tested on both dirt and tarmac.
Ergonomically, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR benefits from new tank shrouds with bi-composite plastics on the upper and lower flanks. This not only provides a distinctive new look but also aids in cooling by channeling air more effectively.
With regard to air intake, an updated 1-piece inlet sleeve and snorkel design feature prevents any deformation, thanks to a more robust and stiffer construction, while an updated fuel tank roll protects the frame against wear and improves tank fitment.
Above the surface, full-orange bodywork, featuring red and black in-mold graphics, and a more durable black seat bring a cleaner look while communicating the 2025 KTM 450 SMR’s pure READY TO RACE intentions.
As with previous generations, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR is fitted with race-ready Metzeler Racetec SM K1 Supermoto tires wrapped around lightweight 16.5“ front and 17” rear ALPINA rims.
The 2025 KTM 450 SMR has been rigorously tested to ensure it can perform under the most extreme conditions. Supermoto World Championship rider, Lukas Höllbacher, put the machine through its paces in a variety of challenging environments, from scorching 40-degree heat on Spanish asphalt to sub-zero temperatures on ice in Sweden. These grueling test simulations ensure that the 2025 KTM 450 SMR can deliver top performance regardless of the conditions. Follow the link HERE to watch the testing phase in the harsh conditions.
With its sights set on maintaining the top spot in the Supermoto category, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR is ready to lift its front wheel in a salute to itself.

The 2025 KTM 450 SMR features one of the most exhilarating 4-stroke engines in the paddock, with its SOHC powerplant exemplifying cutting-edge engineering. With a peak power output of over 63 HP and an overall engine weight of only 26.8 kg, you’ll leave the competition eating your dust. The silencer offers exceptional response in combination with the mapping switch and provides a slightly quieter exhaust note. For those looking for more, a quick visit to the KTM PowerParts catalog with give you a proper A-SMR experience.
DROP THE CLUTCH
Launch Control & Quickshifter
Launch control, ENGAGED! Designed for total domination, the 2025 KTM 450 SMR comes fitted standard with launch control and Quickshifter functionality. Launch control is easily engaged by pressing the traction control and Quickshifter buttons simultaneously and works by limiting the amount of power to the rear wheel, improving traction, and preventing loss of control under hard acceleration. Meanwhile, the Quickshifter function means you can bang through from 2nd to 5th gear with your focus solely on getting to the corner first.
TOTAL TRACTION
Selectable Maps + TC
The map select switch on the 2025 KTM 450 SMR features a simpler design, allowing for easier functionality in switching between 2 engine maps. Map 1 provides a more linear power curve, while Map 2 punches all-out with aggressive throttle and explosive power. Luckily, Traction Control is easily toggled to an on or off position from the same switch, ensuring maximum traction and a distinct advantage in slippery conditions.
HIT THE APEX
Absolute Control
Get ready for an all-out apex assault. The 2025 KTM 450 SMR has received major frame updates directly from Factory Racing efforts. For starters, the frame area around the rear shock mount has been updated and made more streamlined, with new engine mounts and cut-outs for improved chassis flex. The front area of the frame is also updated with a different wall thickness than the previous model years, with renewed engine mounts. This adds up to a 300g weight saving and improved flex for better cornering.
FLUID RIDER MOTION
Ergonomics
Ergonomics Upgraded tank shrouds using bi-compound plastics, and a new fuel tank roll, make for a tighter, more secure fitment, reducing the chance of frame scrubbing and dramatically improving durability. All this works alongside the specially-developed rider triangle, to provide unmatched knee contact and gripping surfaces – especially when standing on the pegs in the dirt sections.
UNMATCHED PERFORMANCE
Performance
The 2025 KTM 450 SMR engine is tilted 2° backward, resulting in a 3mm lower front sprocket position. All of this means greatly improved mass centralization and reduced overall weight, benefiting handling and anti-squat behavior.
SLIP AND LET RIP
Slipper Clutch
The KTM 450 SMR features a SUTER slipper clutch which prevents rear wheel instability and hopping when aggressively down gearing for the apex. The result is maximum control, and the ability to perform the perfect Supermoto-style drifts into corners. What’s more, a Brembo hydraulic system guarantees perfect clutch modulation – when you’re not using the Quickshifter, that is.
FASTER, SMOOTHER, SHARPER
Updated Suspension Settings
For 2025, the KTM 450 SMR has given the WP XACT Closed Cartridge forks and WP XACT rear shock an update. Lining up at the starting grid with reworked settings and reduced weight, with improved weight distribution and increased overall response.
UNFLAPPABLE FRONT END
WP XACT Fork
For the first time, a WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork finds its way into the KTM 450 SMR. Fast and consistent damping characteristics are guaranteed thanks to a new mid-valve piston concept which optimizes the oil flow within the cartridge. The WP XACT Close Cartridge fork comes with 48mm of diameter while the total length is now 925mm. As always, the fork is fully adjustable in rebound and compression. Hand adjustable clickers on the bottom of the fork shoe and fork top cap allow riders to change settings on the fly without the need of tools.
TRACK SMOOTHER
WP XACT SHOCK
Keeping things in check at the rear, the WP XACT rear shock has also undergone some changes for 2025. Reworked suspension settings account for the updated frame and rear linkage changes, improving response, overall stiffness and save weight.
RACING ON RAILS
Wheels and Tires
Here’s looking at you, slick. Black, high-strength ALPINA rims with CNC machined hubs, and lightweight spokes, are wrapped in Metzeler Racetec SM K1 Supermoto tires as standard. Thanks to the tire’s ultra-fine silica compound, they warm-up fast and deliver exceptional grip on all all surfaces.
STOPPING POWER
Brakes
Think of it as half-superbike brakes. Exceptional stopping power is guaranteed by high-performance Brembo components, with a 4-piston radial mounted caliper and a radial master cylinder working together to grab a massive 310 mm disc at the front. A single-piston caliper and a 220mm disc provide the stopping power at the rear.
NOTHING TO HOLD YOU BACK
Footpegs
Newly designed footpegs have been added to the 2025 KTM 450 SMR’s arsenal. These feature a slightly smaller surface area, making them less susceptible to hooking up on track curbs, and make better control when cranked right over.
PRECISE, LAP AFTER LAP
Consistency
A new chain guide and chain guard result in improved durability and minimize the chances of hooking on external objects – allowing your chain to offer you the best consistency in performance while chasing lap times.
UNOBTRUSIVE IMPACT
Energy absorption
Besides the expertly crafted, hydro-formed, laser-cut, and robot-welded frame being engineered to provide exceptional rider feedback and straight-line stability, it consists of specifically calculated parameters of longitudinal and torsional flex. This means the frame acts as a “shock absorber” of sorts, making for a less harsh ride, resulting in less rider fatigue over many hard laps.
