2004 Kawasaki KX65 Review

2004 Kawasaki KX65

The 2004 Kawasaki KX65 is the perfect motocross bike for young racers aspiring to be the world’s next James Stewart.

Like Stewart, who grew up racing Kawasaki KX motorcycles and is now the AMA National 125cc Western Region Supercross Champion and defending 2002 AMA 125cc Motocross Champion, Kawasaki’s smallest KX is the minicycle of choice for experienced young racers as well as youngsters who want to improve their riding skills before advancing to a larger-displacement KX model.

Perfect for young riders accustomed to smaller motorcycles, the KX65 has a quick and smooth-shifting six-speed transmission with a manual clutch-actuating mechanism. Quality shift drum needle bearings reduce oil drainage from the transmission to the side case, and chrome-finished shift fork ends resist wear and keep the KX65 shifting smoothly for years to come.

A liquid-cooled, high-performance two-stroke engine powers the KX65 and features a strong, lightweight piston residing in an Electrofusion-coated cylinder. A CNC-machined finish on the bridge between the exhaust ports also contributes to better engine reliability and staves off seizures.
