2004 Suzuki DR-Z125L

The perfect introduction to off-road riding for beginners and young off-road riders alike…

A recent addition to the DR-Z family, the DR-Z125/DR-Z125L has quickly proven to be a fun, easy-to-ride machine that appeals to a wide range of riders. The 125 is available in two versions: the standard DR-Z125 with youth-sized tires and wheels for first-time off-road riders; and the DR-Z125L with a standard-sized wheel/tire combination for adult and teen riders.

The DR-Z125 and DR-Z125L emphasize ease of use and feature a sturdy four-stroke powerplant, low seat heights and high-end components. Motivation for the DR-Z125 comes in the form of a proven 125cc single cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers strong, tractable power. A five-speed transmission and link-type gearshift provide precise operation and optimum feel. Firing the DR-Z is a reliable CDI ignition system tuned to enhance the engine’s power output. This is partnered with an off-road type ignition system for minimal weight and maximum reliability.

Supporting the 125cc powerplant are a frame and swingarm built specifically for the DR-Z125/DR-Z125L. Both are designed for maximum strength, minimal weight and to create a compact, sturdy off-road package. Suspension consists of a long-travel oil-damped fork in front with 180mm of wheel travel and a link-type rear suspension mated to a pre-load-adjustable single rear shock. Braking for the DR-Z125 is via drum at both ends, while the large-wheel DR-Z125L utilizes a 220mm disc up front and drum in the rear.

A stylish, aggressive look borrowed from the larger DR-Z and RM relatives completes the DR-Z125 machines. Both 125 models utilize a fuel tank, frame cover and radiator shrouds from the DR-Z400, while the fenders, handlebar, number plate and seat are directly influenced by the high-performance RM85. The 2004 DR-Z125 and DR-Z125L – sharp styling, quality components, easy to use and finely tuned to create the perfect introduction to off-road riding for beginners and young off-road riders alike.
