2006 Ducati Multistrada 1000S DS
Desirous of the ultimate performance Multistrada? Ducati introduces the all-new Multistrada 1000S DS. As with all Multistrada models, the riding position is a comfortable balance between the aggressive sport bike posture and the wide-handlebar upright position typical of enduro machines. As a result, the Multistrada carves up mountain passes like a sport bike, but is still comfortable for hours of two-up adventure touring.
The Multistrada 1000S DS is equipped with exclusive “S” features such as carbon fibre timing belt covers and front mudguard. At the bike’s heart is the 1000 Dual Spark engine — powerful, reliable and with excellent torque even at the lowest engine speeds.
A key feature of this model is its suspension system derived from our highest performance Superbike models.
If that’s not enough, you can personalize your Multistrada to your own specifications by choosing from the many items available in the Ducati Performance accessory catalogue.
2006 MSRP $13,995 USD

Features:
MULTISTRADA 1000 S DS
The Multistrada 1000 S DS is dedicated to riders who seek sporting satisfaction. The 1000 S DS is based on the 1000 DS, but a whole range of prestigious, exclusive, and high performance components have been added, many of them derived directly from the Ducati Superbike range. Fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions and carbon fibre body parts are a typical example.
Styling
The most exclusive Multistrada is equipped as a factory special. While identical to the 1000 DS in bodywork and instrumentation, it incorporates a large number of racing parts. The 1000 S DS perfectly embodies the sporting origins of this incredibly versatile motorcycle. The most eye-catching differences include the variable section aluminium alloy handlebars and carbon fibre timing belt covers on the sides of the cylinders. The front mudguard is in carbon fibre for added kudos too. Neither can you fail to be impressed by the prestigious Öhlins suspension front and rear derived from the 999, which give obvious benefits in terms of handling and look great in the process.
Chassis
The fundamental dimensions of the chassis are the same as those of the 1000 DS, but the Multistrada 1000 S DS is equipped with more sophisticated suspension for a sportier setup and dramatically improved handling. In fact, this advanced suspension transforms the Multistrada 1000 S DS into a genuine raised frame superbike, and guarantees lightning fast responses through bends as well as fantastic directional precision.
The Öhlins fork is the most obvious distinguishing feature of the sports-oriented 1000 S DS. It is an upside-down design, and fully adjustable for spring preload and hydraulic damping. The stanchions are Titanium Nitride coated for race-ready low-friction action. Even the rear monoshock is fully adjustable and incorporates the characteristic remote spring preload adjuster.
Engine
Its racing suspension already gives the Multistrada 1000 S DS amazing sports performance. On top of this, the latest twin spark L-twin engine delivers 92 HP at 8,000 rpm, with a generous dose of smooth, progressive torque spread over a wide rpm band. The resulting ride is both thrilling and satisfying. With performance like this as standard, you simply don’t need to go looking for power add-ons that would only spoil the bike’s amazing, designed-in balance.
