Following their positive outings at the season opening GP of Finland in March, Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team riders Loïc Larrieu and Jamie McCanney are all set for this weekend’s round two of the 2018 FIM Enduro World Championship in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
Collecting two top seven results in the extremely cold conditions in Finland, Yamaha’s official representative in the Enduro 2 class Loïc Larrieu is eager to show more of what he’s capable of in conditions that are expected to be more familiar to him. Enjoying a good overall feeling aboard the updated edition of the WR450F, Loïc is looking forward to the long weekend of enduro racing in the north of Spain.
Tasting victory in Finland, Outsiders Yamaha Official Enduro Team’s Jamie McCanney will look for more Enduro 1 podium topping success this weekend in Spain. Looking for two strong performances over the weekend, the Brit has his mind focused on also extending his lead in the class’ provisional championship standings.
Johansson Yamaha Official Junior Enduro Team’s newest recruit Albin Elowson has been forced to miss the GP of Spain due to an injury sustained last Saturday, while racing in the Swedish Enduro Championship. Working hard to get back to full fitness, the young Swede now has his eyes set on making his World Championship debut with Yamaha during the following round of the series on May 4/6 in Portugal.
Round two of the 2018 FIM Enduro World Championship kicks off on Friday evening with the SuperTest taking place in the San Lazaro football stadium outside the city of Santiago de Compostela. Moving to the main part of the race during the weekend, competitors will have to complete three laps of 70km on Saturday and on Sunday, with three tests per lap testing their skills and speed in varying conditions.

“Albin has worked really hard to prepare for the season and all of us in the team were really looking forward to seeing him race his first GP aboard our WR250F machine. Unfortunately, a small injury sustained last Saturday while racing the Swedish Enduro Championship makes it impossible for him to contest the GP of Spain. Enjoying a great day at the Swedish championship Albin was provisionally leading the overall but a crash left him with a concussion. We are disappointed not to see Albin race in Spain but we now have our eyes set on having him back with us next week in Portugal. We know this championship will be long so nothing is lost yet. Albin is doing his best to come back soon.”
