KODY KOPP TAKES PHOTO-FINISH VICTORY ON HARLEY-DAVIDSON XG750R IN AFT SUPERTWINS ACTION ON DUQUION MILE

Briar Bauman Fourth on Harley-Davidson XG750R; Kopp Keeps Series Points Lead

MILWAUKEE (July 5, 2026) – Latus Motors Racing/Harley-Davidson/BMC Racing rider Kody Kopp raced a Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle to win a thrilling photo finish in the Mission AFT SuperTwins main event at the rain-delayed Drag Specialties DuQuoin Mile in DuQuoin, Ill. The third victory in his impressive rookie SuperTwins season keeps Kopp in the series points lead. Championship contender Super.com/Rick Ware Racing/Jacob Construction/Parts Plus rider Briar Bauman raced a Harley-Davidson XG750R motorcycle to a fourth-place result as just 0.167 seconds separated the top-four riders at the finish line.

Race action at the DuQuoin Mile was rescheduled for Sunday after rain soaked the track on Saturday evening. Kopp was the fast qualifier for the event with a best lap of 35.297 seconds and won a heat race by 0.013 seconds over Yamaha rider Dallas Daniels, a result that would portend the main event. It was Daniels leading the field from the start of the main (eight minutes plus two laps) with Kopp, Bauman, KTM rider Davis Fisher and Honda rider Trent Lowe right behind in the lead group. At the halfway point, Daniels, Fisher, Kopp and Bauman had opened a gap of 2.7 seconds on the field, with each taking a turn in the lead as riders tried different lines to gain an advantage in a wheel-to-wheel, elbow-to-elbow battle. Kopp led a late segment of laps, but it was Daniels who passed for the lead at the start of the final lap and led down the back stretch. As the four racers charged down the final straight Kopp and Fisher edged past Daniels, with Kopp crossing the finish line just 0.012 seconds clear of Fisher. Daniels was third and Bauman fourth.

“I was looking at the time, looking at everything I could, and using all my tools,” said Kopp after scoring the first mile win of his SuperTwins career. “I can’t believe we pulled that one off. Dallas checked down low going into Turn 4, and I had planned on trying to draft him to the line. But when he did that, I just started rolling and picked it up mid-corner more than I had all race. That fence came up real quick. I’m happy to get that one. This says a lot about my team. Dave (Zanotti) and Michelle (Disalvo), they’ve been working so hard on this package.”

After 10 of 16 rounds in the 2026 Mission AFT SuperTwins championship, Kopp leads the series with 192 points, followed by Daniels with 184 points, Bauman with 172 points and Fisher with 125 points.
