Indian Motorcycle Racing has announced that veteran Superbike racer Larry Pegram will compete at the Lone Star National Half-Mile on Saturday, September 23, as a fill-in rider for the injured Brad Baker.
“It’s been one of the most historic seasons of flat track racing,” said Pegram. “I got a good sense of the Scout FTR750’s capabilities during the X Games in Minneapolis, and I’m excited to get back on it for the half-mile track at Texas Motor Speedway.”
Pegram, also the color commentator for American Flat Track’s NBCSN telecast, will run Baker’s backup bike while the full-time factory rider recovers from a training accident on his mountain bike. Baker suffered a broken jaw and looks to be back on his Indian Scout FTR750 to compete at the Cycle Gear American Flat Track Finals, presented by Indian Motorcycle at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif. on October 7.
Then tune in Thursday night for American Flat Track’s doubleheader on NBCSN with the Harley-Davidson Williams Grove Half-Mile presented by Appalachian Harley-Davidson kicking things off at 10:00 p.m. ET, followed by this weekend’s Lone Star Half-Mile presented by Indian Motorcycle at 11:00 p.m. ET. Filling in for Pegram as the expert commentator for the NBCSN telecast of the race is the Voice of American Flat Track, Scottie Deubler.
