Stealthily pass from the wild to the civilized….

Bypass the Ordinary

The Zero DS combines innovation with passion to deliver the world’s most versatile electric motorcycle. Designed to be agile in the dirt and quick on the street, the Zero DS represents a new kind of freedom.

Blast down a gravel road or a dusty trail. When you’re ready, stealthily pass from the wild to the civilized as you arrive at your destination. The Zero DS is tough when you demand it and distinguished when required. Its edgy yet sophisticated appearance is highlighted by an eye-catching twin-spar frame that is both rigid and lightweight.

Propelled by the most advanced technology in the industry, the Zero DS is a fully electric motorcycle that can handle any surface you throw at it. Overcoming obstacles and maintaining control is effortless due to its direct-drive powertrain and fully adjustable suspension. Under technical riding conditions, Zero’s revolutionary Z-Force® motor delivers astonishing responsiveness with the twist of your wrist. As with Zero’s entire model line, the 2015 Zero DS offers a liberating ownership experience with its maintenance-free powertrain, penny per mile ‘fuel’ cost and powerful acceleration.

New for 2015

The evolution of extraordinary

Agile in the dirt and quick on the street, the Zero DS represents a new kind of freedom…freedom from gasoline, noise, and frequent maintenance. For 2015, the world’s most versatile electric motorcycle expands its boundaries even further. Showa suspension delivers enhanced comfort and control, both on and off road, perfectly complementing Pirelli MT-60 enduro tires. Longer adventures are now available thanks to 10% increased battery capacity, extending Zero Motorcycles’ class-leading range up to 170 miles in the city.

Advanced Bosch anti-lock brakes (ABS) improve safety in a wide array of conditions, ensuring the best performance from newly tuned hydraulic ratios. Of course, ABS can be disabled when the adventure leads off road. Riders will notice stylish mirrors that provide excellent rearward visibility and reduce motorcycle width. Comfortable new grips are made of a softer rubber compound, and a more robust throttle seamlessly controls the Z-Force® motor’s instantaneous torque.

2015 Zero DS Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

A refined powertrain integrated with an off-road heritage

The Zero DS is built on the foundation of the Zero S and incorporates technology that makes it ideally suited for a wide range of conditions. In the dirt or on the street, the Pirelli dual sport tires maintain a tight grip, and the specially engineered Showa suspension system absorbs the bumps. The result is a dual sport motorcycle that is ready for any surface you throw at it.

Game Changing Z-Force® Power Pack

130+ Mi Range / 300,000+ Mi Lifetime

The 2015 Zero DS features advanced cell chemistry and battery management systems that provide greater capacity and range. Not only does the ZF12.5 power pack enable you to go beyond 130 miles, it is also designed to last the life of the motorcycle. The result of cutting edge research and development, each cell in the power pack is individually controlled and monitored to ensure maximum health. The highly efficient onboard charger minimizes charge time and can work in parallel with Zero’s scalable off-board charging systems. What does this mean? Simply put, the Zero DS is a leader in acceleration, range and longevity for production electric motorcycles.

Zero DS Electric Motorcycle Z-Force® Power Tank
Power Tank Technology

Up to 170 Miles in the City

The Z-Force® Power Tank adds 2.8 kWh of power pack storage capacity to any 2015 Zero DS. An optional accessory, the Power Tank can be added at any time during or after motorcycle purchase, bringing the maximum battery capacity to 15.3 kWh. With that much energy, you can expect to travel up to 170 miles in the city or 82 miles on the highway.

Revolutionary Z-Force® Motor

54 hp, 68 ft-lbs… and incredibly efficient

Zero Motorcycles designed the Z-Force® motor from the ground up to be compact, efficient and powerful. It provides you with exhilarating acceleration to a top speed of 98 mph. Completely air-cooled, the motor is designed to provide a fantastic riding experience minus the need for any regular maintenance. When slowing down, the motor generates electricity that is channeled back into the power pack to help extend ride times.

Frame and Bodywork

Great to look at. Even better to ride.

Aircraft grade aluminum is exclusively used in the construction of the twin spar frame on the Zero DS. It is lightweight, strong and one of the main reasons that the Zero DS handles incredibly well on the dirt or street. Designed to have a low center of gravity, the Zero DS is highly maneuverable and responsive. The refined, yet rugged, appearance is completed with sleek bodywork with a contemporary, aggressive and naked look. The ‘tank’ section of the bodywork features an integrated storage compartment that is both lockable and removable. The tank section can also be replaced with the Power Tank accessory for an additional 2.8 kWh of power pack capacity.

The Magic Ride

Zero worked in close collaboration with Showa to develop suspension systems that provide excellent small bump compliance, predictable control of bigger impacts and exceptionally smooth action under all conditions. Torsional rigidity of the front end improves handling, and a hollow front axle reduces unsprung weight. Suspension settings are completely customizable to meet the demands of a wide variety of riders.

Bosch Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)

Powerful. Precise. Control.

The Zero DS features an advanced Bosch anti-lock brake system (ABS) that improves control in a wide array of conditions and ensures the best braking performance, while a large 320 mm diameter carrier-less rotor increases stopping power.

WHEELS AND TIRES

PAVED ROAD. DIRT ROAD. NO ROAD.

Pirelli tires are standard on the Zero DS, providing great traction in a wide variety of conditions, excellent durability and road feel. The tires are mounted to stylish cast alloy wheels that feature durable wheel bearings.
