MXGP of China Qualifying Race

• Mattia Guadagnini 15th in qualifying in the Chinese rain

The Oriental Beauty Valley MXGP of China, the nineteenth round of the 2025 season, is taking place this weekend at the Haiwan Town circuit, around 60 kilometres from the centre of the metropolis of Shanghai, near the Chinese coast. The new track, built a short distance from the old one, features a modern layout with a hard clay surface that tends to crumble in the absence of water.

During the timed practice session, held under a scorching sun with temperatures reaching 34°C (93°F) and humidity exceeding 90%, Mattia Guadagnini and Jeremy Seewer recorded the 13th and 15th fastest times, respectively, before lining up for the penultimate qualifying race of the year under tropical rain that made the track particularly treacherous.

Mattia launched well into the top 15 and settled into fourteenth, but a mistake on lap three pushed him back to 17th. Undeterred, he admirably battled back to claim fifteenth. Jeremy had a similar race, starting 15th on his Desmo450 MX and crashing on the third lap. After rejoining outside the top twenty, the Swiss rider mounted a strong late charge to finish 19th at the chequered flag.
