XL 883C Sportster® 883 Custom Model Overview
A rubber-mounted powertrain, a pull back riser, and a new fuel tank highlight the changes to the XL 883 Custom. This bold new look stays true to the 883 Custom lineage, with its rear disc wheel, extremely low seat height, and swept back styling. Combined with the rubber-mounted evolution engine, this will really be a motorcycle that you don’t want to get off of!

Key XL Sportster® 883 Custom Motorcycle Characteristics

Rubber mounted 883cc Evolution® Engine
Silver powder-coated engine (including cylinders and cylinder heads) and covers
Tall, chromed pull back riser
Laced front wheel, disc rear wheel
One-piece, two-up seat
Forward foot controls

The fuel tank on the custom models has been completely redesigned in 2004, uniquely changing the look of these models while still solidly identifying them as undeniably Sportster. The capacity on the tanks increases to 4.5 gallons, translating into a usable range on the highway of over 150 miles (depending on conditions).
The 883 Custom also receives new graphics in 2004.
A beautiful new, swept back handlebar riser accents the top of the steering head.
New handlebars and foot controls are pulled back for 2004, enabling an ergonomically enhanced riding position with no sacrifice in styling.
The clutch springs on the 883 models are new this year. This change results in a clutch spring rate reduction of about 25% on the 883 models.
