2004 Suzuki DR-Z250

Fun and easy to ride…

Suzuki’s tradition of fun and easy-to-ride four-stroke off-road machines continues with the introduction of the 2004 Suzuki DR-Z250. The ’04 DR-Z250 now features thinner seat foam for a lower seat height and fits in perfectly with the DR-Z lineup, slotting in between the entry-level DR-Z125 and the high-performance DRZ400E.

Powering the DR-Z250 is a compact 249cc DOHC, air/oil-cooled four-stroke engine with a four-valve cylinder head, lightweight nickel-silicon-phosphorus-carbide-plated cylinder and wet-sump lubrication system. An easy-shifting, six-speed transmission puts power to the rear wheel. Starting is courtesy of a traditional kick start as well as an electric system. A maintenance-free battery powers the latter and the lighting system. The DR-Z250 breathes through a large four-liter airbox with a quick-release side panel for easy maintenance. This, combined with a Mikuni TM28 carburetor and a tuned stainless steel exhaust system, provides smooth low-to-mid rpm power delivery.

The capable 249cc four-stroke engine is mounted in a durable steel frame designed with minimal weight and maximum strength in mind. The DR-Z250 also features aluminum skid plates for protection and durability. A cartridge-style conventional fork resides up front and features adjustable compression and rebound damping. A fully adjustable remote reservoir shock mated to a study lightweight aluminum swingarm handle suspension duties out back. Wheels measure 21 inches up front and 18 inches in the rear.

Single hydraulic disc brakes slow things down at both ends. All of this is wrapped up in slim-profile, Champion Yellow bodywork with white number plates. The result is a cohesive, stylish look and increased rider mobility, weight transfer and control.
