Razgatlıoğlu claims Superpole and Race1 at Magny-Cours with Pirelli development tyres

The BMW rider won the opening race of the weekend with the E0126 supersoft rear, after setting a new lap record in qualifying with the E0479 extrasoft. Victory for Manzi in WorldSSP.

· Toprak Razgatlıoğlu (BMW) dominated WorldSBK Race1 at Magny-Cours, taking the win a full eight seconds ahead of Nicolò Bulega (Ducati), second, and Alex Lowes (Bimota), third. The winner started from pole position using the SC2 at the front and the E0126 supersoft development at the rear, a choice also shared by his teammate, Michael Van der Mark, and Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki). The other two riders on the podium – as well as the rest of the grid – opted for the SC1 at the front. Winner Razgatlioğlu also retouched the race record lap with the 1’35.642 set on lap five, improving Álvaro Bautista’s previous record of 2023 by almost four and a half tenths.

· Razgatlioğlu was also the fastest in Superpole, scoring a time of 1:34.930, which counts as a new all-time lap record, and improving Garrett Gerloff’s 2023 record by a good half a second. This result was obtained using the SC1 at the front and E0479 extrasoft development on the rear.

· This was the eighth win of the season for Stefano Manzi (Yamaha) in WorldSSP Race1, who took the victory using front SC1 and rear SCX tyres, the same combination chosen by all the riders on the grid. Behind him were Can Oncu, second, and Alberto Surra, third, also on Yamaha. With a time of 1’39.442, which is also the new all-time lap record for the Supersport class, improving Adrian Huertas’ last year record by two and a half tenths, Oncu also took pole.

The development supersoft confirms its effectiveness even at low temperatures

“The first two days at Magny-Cours have provided very interesting indications on the E0126 supersoft development, which confirmed its effectiveness in a wide range of temperatures. Already yesterday in FP2, with asphalt temperatures reaching 40°C, Bulega fell below the previous all-time lap record, while this morning, in FP3, with only 14°C, Razgatlıoğlu lapped on slightly higher times. This was the first time we tested this specification in such cold conditions, and the recorded performance confirms the validity of the solution. The race behaviour was also excellent: the pace held by Razgatlıoğlu highlighted the tyre’s high-performance consistency, with a clear improvement in the race lap record. In the practice simulation, we had already registered a very low consumption level, and Race1 confirmed this trend. Also worth mentioning is the performance of the E0479, the development specification with SCQ compound, which allowed Razgatlıoğlu to significantly improve the all-time lap record in qualifying. On a track like Magny-Cours, with notoriously low natural grip, the supersoft rear solutions, both the E0126 development in WorldSBK and the standard SCX in WorldSSP, were unanimously chosen by all the riders, confirming their effectiveness.”
