SR75 Suzuki’s Thomas Ramette raced to three victories at Saturday’s St Thibery International Supercross in France and earned a huge payday in the process.
The Frenchman, fresh from another triple win the previous weekend at the Pro Hexis SX Championship, was feeling calm and confident: Running a three-final format with two Main Events and a Showdown ‘head-to-head’ race, an incredible €10,000 was up for grabs for any rider who could sweep all three. And Ramette, who’s only just returned from a knee injury sustained in Las Vegas AMA/ FIM World Supercross finale at the start of May, stepped-up to the plate and did exactly that on his Suzuki RM-Z450.
After qualifying third, his evening didn’t get off to the greatest of starts when he was closed out in the opening turn of race one. However, what he may still be lacking in fitness was compensated for by a great racing brain and he worked his way to the front, picking-off riders on every lap, to take the win.
The head-to-head pitted Ramette against Adrien Escoffier and after winning that, the pressure was really on but, as seen time and time again, he’s got a cool head on his young shoulders. After taking the holeshot in the final Main Event, he raced with a perfect intensity to record another victory and win the top prize purse.
