Three Aprilias straight through to Q2 on Friday in Austria

First day of practice over with a positive result for Aprilia Racing in Austria.

Jorge Martín had a consistent day, finishing FP1 third and the practice session fifth, which puts him straight through to Q2.

It was an intense day for Marco Bezzecchi, sixth in FP1 and ninth in the practice session, which puts him straight through to Q2 as well.

Also worth a mention is the performance SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team’s Ai Ogura put in, third in the practice session on his return from injury – a result that puts Aprilia three RS-GP26 machines straight through to Q2.
My arm is better than I had thought. I felt good, but it is obviously still a question mark until Sunday. For Saturday, I don’t think it will limit me and I hope it doesn’t on Sunday either. I felt good with the bike too, considering the fact that it’s Friday, which is usually a complicated day for me. I managed to be consistent. It’s true that I struggled more in the time-attack, but we have clear ideas of where to improve.
It was a positive day. My time-attack may have been a bit more complicated than the last two Friday, partly because of the red flag in the final moments of the practice session. I decided to re-enter with the same tyre and then I made a mistake, so I stopped to change tyres. I wasn’t super precise in the time-attack, but it was still a good day.
Three riders in Q2 with Ogura back from his injury is a positive result for the day. Jorge’s race pace is already consistent, but we’ll have to manage the weekend well in light of the problem with his arm that came out in Misano. We achieved the goal of going straight through to Q2 with Marco, but we still need to work on improving his feeling with the bike. In any case, we want to be ready for the sprint race, so we’ll keep working.
