The JGRMX/ Yoshimura/ Suzuki Factory Racing Team were at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, USA at the weekend for round four of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, where Suzuki RM-Z250 rider Alex Martin fought from behind to finish just outside the top-10.
Teammate Kyle Peters also charged hard to battle the front-runners; and in the 450 class, Kyle Chisholm raced his first 450 National of the year aboard the RM-Z450 – as a last-minute fill-in rider – after Justin Hill sustained a shoulder injury prior to the race.
Chisholm received a phone call from JGRMX/ Yoshimura/ Suzuki Factory Racing Team Manager Jeremy Albrecht on Tuesday before the High Point National asking if he could fill in and he jumped at the opportunity: A day later, he was testing with the team in North Carolina. Not having raced a National yet this year, Chisholm could take solace in the fact that he was going to race on a Suzuki RM-Z450. He had contested the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross series on a HEP Motorsports Suzuki. He showed promise at High Point, but unfortunately, wasn’t able to follow through, but is now determined to get back on the track this week and show his full potential in Florida.
“Kyle will ride more this week and get ready for WW Ranch, because Hill is still recovering from a shoulder injury,” stated Albrecht. “Given that the fill-in ride was a last-minute deal, and that it was Kyle’s first National of the year, I knew it would be a challenge for him. The track was especially rough, so that didn’t help. We plan to do better in Florida.”
Two-time 250 National series runner-up Martin was looking forward to High Point. Although he displayed speed and determination on the track, ‘A-Mart’s’ mid-pack starts held him back in both motos to earn him 11th overall.
Peters struggled as well but charged hard to battle the front-runners and is now looking to refocus and come out stronger and healthier as he prepares to take on WW Ranch.
The JGRMX/ Yoshimura/ Suzuki Factory Racing Team will travel to WW Ranch in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, June 22nd, for the fifth round of the 2019 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Alex Martin [250 Class, 13-11 for 11th Place]:
“The speed was there, but bad starts held me back. I was looking forward to High Point. It’s one of my favourite tracks on the calendar. I wasn’t able to get off the line and put myself in a good position. I was eating roost all day and passing people.”
Kyle Peters [250 Class, 17-16 for 17th Place]:
“I was looking forward to High Point after recovering from a lingering lower back injury at Pala. I had some good moments, but then I jammed my knee in the first turn of the second moto. It was damage control after that.”
Kyle Chisholm [450 Class, 23-20 for 21st Place]:
“I had a rough day. With only being on the bike for a couple of days and not quite as ready as I would have liked, because the fill-in ride happened so suddenly, I struggled. I had a hard time with the track. High Point is historically a difficult track for me. I definitely know that I can do better. The team worked hard and did a great job in getting me as comfortable as I could be. We have a plan to get the bike set up a little more for me this week, and I will do all I can to finish up where I belong at this next race in Florida.”
Jeremy Albrecht [Team Manager]:
“Alex Martin felt better in the second moto and was riding well, but he needs to get some starts. He came from pretty far back in both motos. Kyle Peters had a good start, but he came off the bike in the first turned and jammed his knee. He rode cautiously after that, because it was the same knee he injured last year. Kyle will be fine.
“In the 450 class, Kyle Chisholm was a little uncomfortable. He will ride more this week and get ready for WW Ranch, because Hill is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
