Stefano Manzi, sporting special 70th Anniversary colours on his Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing R9, capped off his championship winning season with a third-place finish in the final Supersport race of 2025 at Jerez.

Off the line it was Can Öncü (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Racing) who led the way into turn one before a stunning four-way battle for the lead commenced between the Turkish rider, Manzi, Masia and Garcia (GMT94 Yamaha). It was Masia who came out on top early in the race, and some tight racing between Öncü and Garcia allowed current Supersport World Champion Manzi to push through to second place.

Sparks flew as Öncü and Garcia traded positions and paint on several laps in a larger group of six riders including Booth-Amos, Oettl and Casadei. Manzi and Booth-Amos charged forward breaking away, leaving Can Öncü to take third place, securing the Teams Championship for Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Racing. Roberto Garcia ultimately crossed the line in seventh position.

With Manzi and Tom Booth-Amos chasing after Masia, a phenomenal battle for second place began. With just two laps to go both riders were trading places corner by corner in an exhilarating display of skill. A last lap, last corner dive up the inside from Manzi was just shy of securing him second place, as the British rider ultimately passed him at the line by just seven thousandths of a second.

Yuki Okamoto (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) started in 28th on the grid and had made his way up to 23rd in the race before a technical issue halted his progress at turn 11, forcing his early retirement midway through the race.

The chequered flag signalled the end of a hugely successful season for the Yamaha R9, securing a Triple Crown in the 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship, with Manzi taking the Riders World Championship, Yamaha winning the Manufacturers Championship and Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Racing securing the Teams Championship in the final race of the year.

Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) – Race 2: 3rd, Championship: 1st

“Of course, I would have liked to have won my last race in the Supersport class before stepping up to Superbike, and also with this fantastic livery from Yamaha but in the end I was not fast enough to win today and I have to be happy about my third place. I ended up with a super season with 20 podiums out of 24 races so I think we did quite a good job.

“I have to thank the Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Team. In the last three years we achieved more than 50 podiums, which is a great achievement. It was an honour to ride for Ten Tate and to win for Ten Kate. In November we have a meeting in the Netherlands and I think we will do some partying and enjoy the moment together because it’s a fantastic team.

“Now my attention turns to the future, I have already done one test on the Superbike in Misano but from tomorrow I am an official Superbike rider and I cannot wait for this exciting new chapter.”
