American Flat Track and NBCSN Announce New On-Air Talent

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (March 21, 2019) – Following two years of impressive growth of its NBCSN viewership, American Flat Track announces the newest additions to its on-air talent for 2019. Veteran commentator Jason Weigandt returns to the booth, now joined by former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver A.J. Allmendinger and seasoned motorsports sideline reporter Kristen Beat. The team will make its debut beginning with the season-opening DAYTONA TT presented by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, March 24 at 4:00 pm ET (1:00 pm PT).

Weigandt, play-by-play announcer for AFT on NBCSN since 2017 and the resident motorcycle racing expert for NBC Sports, will continue to enhance the telecasts with his characteristic enthusiasm for professional flat track.

“I’ve announced plenty of racing, but I’ve seen nothing that provides the close finishes and last-lap action of American Flat Track,” said Weigandt. “I’m pumped to be back for this year’s broadcasts, and we plan to get even more in depth with the AFT culture and storytelling than ever before.”

Bringing an impressive motorsports portfolio to the table, Allmendinger will join Weigandt as color commentator in 2019. In addition to his notable performance on the racetrack, fans will recognize Allmendinger from NBC Sports’ coverage of the 57th running of the iconic Rolex 24 and NBCSN’s daily motorsports show NASCAR America.

“I have been a huge fan of professional flat track my whole life,” said Allmendinger. “I grew up going to the San Jose and Sacramento Miles with my dad. I’m really looking forward to being part of the American Flat Track NBCSN broadcast team and working with Jason Weigandt with his background in two-wheel racing – he is definitely the right guy to learn from.”

Rounding out this all-star team with nearly a decade of motorsports broadcasting experience, Beat has served as sideline reporter for both the Amsoil Arenacross Series and the NASCAR K&N Series.

“I’ve been a fan of professional flat track racing since I was a kid,” said Beat. “Getting to cover it for the first time in my career is a special opportunity. NBCSN is a network that I admire and to be working with that team is such a privilege. Being able to share stories that bring people closer to racing is a blessing – I don’t take that for granted. I’ve been watching film, learning more about the bikes, and I’m ready to hit the ground running.”

“Since 2017, our NBCSN telecasts have been crafted to tell the story of the sport both on and off the track,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “The story of American Flat Track goes beyond the racing – there are real personalities piloting those machines. As we enter a new season, we look forward to working with NBCSN and its expert team to share the more personal, first-person perspective of American Flat Track with our fans.”

In addition to the 18 premieres, NBCSN will present encore telecasts of each one-hour show.

FansChoice.tv, a cornerstone of American Flat Track’s digital strategy, will continue provide live streaming coverage for every round of the 2019 season, and NBC Sports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide streaming coverage alongside NBCSN’s premiere telecasts.

The 2019 American Flat Track on NBCSN telecast premieres this Sunday, March 24 at 4:00 pm ET (1:00 pm PT) with the DAYTONA TT presented by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.
