VICTORY FOR MARCO BEZZECCHI, RAÚL FERNÁNDEZ SECOND WITH TRACKHOUSE MOTOGP TEAM
Aprilia Racing enjoyed an exciting Saturday at Australia’s Phillip Island circuit, with two RS-GP25s on the podium. Marco Bezzecchi built on the speed he had shown on Friday. After missing pole position by just 31 thousandths of a second, the Italian rider launched a strong sprint, securing victory with a decisive overtake four laps from the end. This was his third sprint win of the season after Misano and Mandalika.

Lorenzo Savadori, standing in for Jorge Martín, faced a tough Q1 after a heavy fall while trying to avoid a slower rider ahead. Medical checks later confirmed he was unharmed, allowing him to compete in the sprint – though not at full fitness – which he finished in seventeenth place.

Raúl Fernández delivered a superb performance for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team, with another excellent race: fourth in qualifying and second across the line in the sprint, securing his second MotoGP podium of the season after Mandalika.

I’m happy; it was a great sprint. I started well and managed to hold my position in the opening laps. Then Raúl and I were able to pull away. I didn’t want to push the tyres too hard early on, as I knew the last five laps on the soft would be demanding. Unfortunately, while trying to catch Raúl, I made a small mistake at Turn 10 and ran slightly wide. But I’d managed the tyres well, and once I started pushing again, I was fast. It really was a fantastic sprint.
It was quite a demanding race because, in qualifying, after a manoeuvre by Brad Binder, who braked suddenly in front of me, I had to take evasive action and had a heavy fall. In the sprint, I was still feeling the effects physically, so it was tough. Still, it was a great day – seeing two Aprilias in first and second place is very satisfying.
It was a very positive day, both for Aprilia’s one-two finish and for the Trackhouse MotoGP Team, which is now beginning to benefit from all the hard work so far. I’m very pleased for us and the entire team, because Marco has an important goal for the company – to consolidate second place in the Manufacturers’ Championship and also try to fight for third in the Riders’ standings. Sunday’s race will be even more challenging, given the double long lap penalty, but the aim is to achieve the best possible result.
