Bulega’s ninth symphony at Assen with Pirelli range rear tyres

With the supersoft SCX and soft SC0 rears, both renewed by Pirelli for 2026, the Italian Ducati rider remains unbeaten this season at Assen. Oettl wins WorldSSP Race 2.

· Another treble for Bulega. Italian rider Nicolò Bulega on Ducati dominated the Pirelli Dutch Round of the FIM Superbike World Championship, winning all three scheduled races. This was his third treble of the season and his ninth win from nine races contested so far. As for tyres, in the long races all riders used Pirelli range tyres: SC1 soft front and SC0 soft rear, while in Superpole the supersoft SCX featured prominently. This year’s Race2, completed in 32’58.347, was 19.246 faster than in 2025, with an average lap time improvement of 0.9 seconds.

·  Record-breaking SCX. After enabling Bulega to set a new lap record in Saturday qualifying, the supersoft SCX rear also took centre stage in the Superpole Race, won by the Italian Ducati rider, who also set the new fastest race lap of 1’32.357 on the second lap, improving by 1.2 seconds on the previous time he set last year (1’33.581). For the 10-lap race, almost all riders opted for the SC1 soft front and supersoft SCX rear, except Alberto Surra (Ducati) and Bahattin Sofuoğlu (Yamaha), who preferred the soft SC0 rear.

·  SC0 the preferred choice in WorldSSP. Race2, red-flagged after 13 laps due to a crash, was won by German rider Phillip Oettl (Ducati). Compared to Race 1, much lower temperatures and damp tarmac led almost all riders (30 out of 34) to choose the soft SC0 rear, which is better protected against cold-related wear than the supersoft SCX. The SC1 soft front was confirmed, as in Race1. The second WorldSPB race went to Dutch rider Ferre Fleerackers (Suzuki), while in WorldWCR Beatriz Neila claimed her first win.

·  Sunday was the coldest day. Today’s races were held in around 11 degrees Celsius air temperature and 16 °C on the tarmac, making it the coldest day of the Dutch weekend.

Further confirmation from the new range soft rear tyres

“As already seen at the previous Portimão round, even in variable conditions and with the cooler temperatures recorded at Assen, the new rear tyres in the Pirelli DIABLO Superbike range – the supersoft SCX and the soft SC0, known up to last season as development specifications E0126 and E0125 – once again proved to be among the highlights of the weekend.
With the SCX, Nicolò Bulega set the new outright lap record and the new fastest race lap in the Superpole Race, while the SC0 showed excellent consistency in the long races, contributing to a noticeable improvement in overall race times compared to last season.
In both cases these are range tyres, available for purchase by any rider or motorcyclist through the usual sales channels and suitable for competitions at any level as well as track days. This result reflects the ongoing development work that Pirelli has been carrying out for years in this and other championships, with direct benefits for products intended for all motorcyclists.
On track, the tyres are exactly the same as those used in the World Championship, while for road use the products can benefit from the many technological innovations introduced in motorsport. Finally, congratulations to Nicolò Bulega for the outstanding results achieved in this start to the Championship: after just three rounds he has already shown that he is the man to beat”.
